  1. I've not seen that before. I'm not one for superlatives, but that is just amazing. Simply stunning!
  2. I've found the easiest thing to do is put the PF stuff in the tender. It's normally just about the right height, and is usually a big box anyway, so then you can concentrate on the detail of the loco. Oh yes I realise that, which is why I now have 4 rechargable battery boxes. Should I decide to run a third loop at shows, I'll get another two, but for now I'm happy running two loops. :) 3rd? I only know of two - the v1 and v2. What's the third?
  3. Oh I see. Not found that, but I don't think I've tried to do it yet. Only ever pressed straights down onto baseplates, which has a similar effect, but I think that's mainly down to baseplates being a tiny fraction too small.
  4. ... I never have enough motors, battery boxes and receivers for all my trains. Currently, I think I need an extra 2 motors, 1 battery box (rechargeable) and 3 IR receivers. If I wanted to change all my AAA battery boxes to rechargeable, well, I'd be a lot poorer!
  5. As it's just being unveiled, rather than released, I would strongly imagine that it will be the Detective Agency that is unveiled. After all, Parisian Restaurant was released 1 Jan this year, and unveiled at the start of October last year.
  6. Sorry, I'm not sure what you're meaning? What's the problem exactly?
  7. 1 Jan 2015. I didn't ask if there would be a VIP release earlier.
  8. ^ Oooh, they look like they'll fit around the Big Ben Bricks medium driver wheels! Does anyone know if they actually will before I commit?
  9. I'd be hugely surprised if PF stuff was on their list of LUG support stuff.
  10. I only run PF, having got back into Lego long after they stopped 9V. I see the above problem as a challenge more than anything - I like that challenge of 'how do I package this?' On the flip side, because with 9V you have to use the train motor, it makes it much more difficult to run a train such as the Emerald Night - where the power comes from a L or XL motor. There's more freedom in how you actually power a PF train. Personally, I only run trains at shows (not got the space at home). I just set it to go fast enough to get around the bends and leave it running at that. I do use the rechargable battery box though, rather than actual batteries.
  11. Very nice! I am curious though, why each line has two platforms?
  12. I was told earlier in the year that both the Horizon Express and the Maersk Triple-E Ship will retire at the end of this year.
  13. As I posted on Brickset this morning, I have been reliably informed that the next modular will be a Detective Agency. £132.99, available 1st Jan 2015.
  14. I've used Duracell batteries in my Motorised Constitution at Lego shows, and it will quite happily pull 6 MOC'd wagons for nearly 4 hours before the batteries need changing. TBH I've started using the rechargable battery boxes now. Yes they're more expensive, but they don't eat batteries, and I get about the same life from them before they need recharging. Regarding the wheelspin, it definitely shouldn't do that.
  15. Why do people still use Brickshelf? Just use flickr. Anyway, from what I can see they look very good! I'll be particularly interested to see close ups.
  16. Looking very good! A couple of thoughts strike me: First, I'd use this piece (http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=41239) in black as a connecting rod for the wheels (although I accept it's a bit bulky). Secondly, do you have one of the tender axles 'floating'? If not, it ain't gonna go around curves without de-railing! EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure your tender is too close to the engine to go around curves anyway.
  17. I can confirm that BBB medium driver wheels are completely useless at pulling pretty much anything. I even get wheelspin when there's nothing attached to the train...
  18. Were they the new style or old style horses?
  19. Post offices in the UK do a lot more than provide postal services. They do banking, insurance and sell stationary, as well as provide services such as car tax, pensions, travel money. Some of the smaller village post offices can be in corner shops, in churches and even in pubs.
  20. There's a modular where they're put on 'upside down'. *goes to check* yup, it's the Town Hall.
  21. Agreed. Use BBB's small driver wheels, with the middle axle being non-driven. You'll solve the problem of it going around corners, but you'll add two more problems - They're useless for grip, and they're not powered. If you can get past that, I'd personally build it basically as a square box, with flexible hoses on top, connected together via use of some technic pieces and clips.
  22. I too thought that the PC wasn't that great looking, but I bought it anyway because I am a bit of a completist with the modulars (except CC). I actually really enjoyed the build; a lot more than I thought I would. I can't quite put my finger on why exactly, but I like it a lot more now than I did when it was still in the box.
  23. I honestly can't see a carnval set being part of the modulars line. They're modulars, not fairground rides! I think it's more likely to be that it's another 'fairground ride' to go with the Grand Carousel. I think someone has got their wires crossed, and it's possible that whoever was telling them said that it'd go well with the modular range.
