  1. Maybe the pool table is upstairs? Maybe the top floor is a snooker club or something similar. Pure conjecture...
  2. Yes that's curious. Especially as the servo motor states 'Temporarily out of stock'...I don't think it means they're killing PF. They've just brought out two new trains that use it (and the battery box). I hope it means they're replacing it with a smaller box...
  3. User Diggydoes on Brickset has provided more info about #10246 Detective Agency: It's basically two buildings, the Agency and a Barbershop. The main colours for the Agency are light yellow (looks like it at least) and dark orange (masonry bricks!!!),the colours for the Barbershop are dark blue and medium blue! Apparently the (32x32) baseplate is Brown, although he's not sure if it's reddish brown or dark brown. Not sure how a pool table fits in with the above, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.
  4. I'd almost laugh if it didn't get approval now that you've announced it. Anyway, whilst I'd love to buy such a set (generally - will have to see it fully first), I really think you're doomed from the start. Why would they approve a 'winter village' ideas set? They'd only be able to sell it for about 3 months each year, and in those three months it would cannibalise sales from their normal yearly winter village release. Business case: Failed. I'm afraid it's as simple as that. I applaud you for doing the work to put it together, and for what looks like a great set, but unfortunately I don't share your optimism that it'll get through the Ideas process.
  5. In 20 years time I will have saved enough money (by not buying batteries) to enable me to buy 40 new rechargeable battery boxes should I need to ;)
  6. I use the rechargable battery box for the trains I run at shows. I have two loops, with four trains. I have two trains charging while two run, then swap them after about 3.5 hours when the batteries die. I like the rechargable box simply because I don't have to take the train apart to get the batteries out! All I have to do is ensure I can get the charger into the top of it, which means I can really integrate the battery box into the train build - especially with steam trains.
  7. Whilst it looks tight, it doesn't look any tighter than normal switches or curve track. I always test any mocs over a switch with a couple of curve tracks after it, as that's the most extreme it can get. If it'll get through that section, it'll get through any track layout.
  8. UK stores have apparently been told to limit TH to one per customer, as they will not be getting re-stocked. At least 3 stores have already sold out.
  9. Very nice! It's very busy for a rural bus stop though, and I've never ever seen a bus stop with a toilet! (at least, not here in the UK). Nice one though!
  10. Wow, that is something else! Nice one!
  11. Yes, I was told that earlier this year (and also that the Town Hall was retiring, but I dismissed that as them confusing it with the GE - looks like they were right after all).
  12. Can you get that in red? It looks good, but the only thing I'd say is that the windows look too small for a high speed train. They need to be wider, like the Horizon Express.
  13. I did notice in the Christmas 2014 catalogue, that the PS, PC and PR were all featured, but the TH wasn't, which I thought a bit odd.
  14. ^ have you tried electric fence?
  15. My latest steam train (7 wide), I'm using jumper plates to move the arches back half a plate so they're over the wheel, and using the 'telephone' 1x4 bow as the arch. It's quite delicate, but it works well.
  16. I also use jumper plates, but that's because I mostly use PF train motors for building steam trains, neither of which is conducive to building 7-wide from the ground up.
  17. ^ Yes, the platforms and steps are basically a carbon copy of the Maersk, as I didn't feel I could improve on it.
  18. Nice! This reminds me that I modified mine a few weeks back, as I felt it was too stubby and short. I extended it by 6 studs to make it the same length as the Maersk train.
  19. I love these, especially the front! My only slight gripe is that the windows look a touch too small and high, but I suspect nothing can really be done about that.
  20. The leaked info about 2015 sets was (I believe) from a retailer/retailer catalogue. D2C (exclusive) sets are just that - exclusive to LEGO stores, so won't have appeared in retailer catalogues yet.
  21. I found two almost-new Emerald Nights in a charity shop for £40 each. Oh wait, that was a dream...
  22. 1st Jan 2015. £132.99 in the UK, so the same price as the Parisian Restaurant.
  23. Ah but what if the train you were MOCing didn't have boogies? How would you motorise, say, an 0-6-0 Diesel shunter? Or an 0-6-2 Steam engine (or similar)? You couldn't. With PF, you can, because you're not limited to using the train motor. Sure, you have to accommodate two other large bits, but that's not insurmountable.
  24. The width of a stud is 0.8cm. Therefore 32 studs (the size of a baseplate) is 25.6cm
