Small Fast Chassis
shadowhearth replied to Hopey's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
hmmm, this looks like right my alley. This RC buggy motor can be used with normal AAA box, IR receiver and normal controller? or you can only use the RC buggy controller? -
Sariel, fair play to you m8. Cheers for going through all the effort of putting up the instructions. I am not going to build this one, but it is going to my archives!

8043 vs 8294 vs 42006
shadowhearth replied to mobi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Isn't 8043 like on another completely higher level? The size alone? OP, if you got money to splash i would go for 8043. -
Just food for though: maybe we experience with lego same thing that property market in the world? A nice big buble, which is bursting now? Prices on some older sets are just out of lialia land. No one who is saine mind and who works for his money will buy it. Maybe we can expect prices dropping to a bit normal price range?

When there is anything in shops in Ireland when it comes to new tech or stuff like that! I was in Cork Smiths shop and their lego technic selection was legendary. 3 sets, all same helicopters!!! Even our local world of wonder had helicopter, pick up tow truck and lots of smaller technic sets! Our best bet is to order online m8.

I have to admit. its weird. Some older sets, which should be valuable are not that really expensive. Some older smaller sets in perfect condition are very cheap. I guess, technic sets dont have minifigs... In a way its a good news for anyone who likes lego and use it more then just for shelving. I tried to look in to a few old Lego system/space sets for myself. replace the lego i had in childhood and lost. Prices are quite mad compared to technic! Good point mentioned here already - Studless vs studded. When i was a child it was all about studded parts, now i see it became 95% studless. It is more functional, smarter, gives for better angles and forms, but it really can leave some huge gaps and look to "skeletony" for my liking. I do understand that younger generation who started off with studless and this is the way lego goes. so older studded technic sets do not have that popularity. Nothing wrong in that. anyway, i am hoping to pick up that lovely 8880 even cheaper so!

I dont want to sound like a dick though, but i will say it: the front looks a bit wrong, those panels are bit too steep for Thumbler. You managed to catch its rear and body quite well i have to admit, but the whole thing is ruined by that front. -

Best Dump Truck?
shadowhearth replied to sapo117's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Bricksonwheels, that truck is just plain awesome. Reminds me of Model team stuff from back in the day. I loved those :( -
A think you missing the point of the thread m8. ;) We are talking about sets who got a nice selection of parts and most important some sets drop in price quite nicely making them a great part bundles. I might be more of an old fashion lego worm, but I like to have a selection of parts and then just see what works, what doesn't in real time. So when buying a set you get some of the parts you never knew you could use, but them those turn out extremely handy. I think we got a bit spoiled at this lego golden age. We can get almost any part or srt we need online, just click and here you go. Back when we were children most of us had p work with hat we have. That's how some awesome constructions and ideas came to life!

I dont know if you had such thread here before, but in my opinion it would be a handy thread. Which sets are good buy for parts. The model it self ignored? It should be live thread too as some sets after price drop are great bundles of parts, even if you dont care much about model it self. So i might start the discussion on few sets i noticed myself. 8070 - i noticed it can be picked up for 74eu from german amazon. I own one already, but for that price it looks like a nice bundle of parts for car mocs. Independable suspension, good wheels, a lot of panels. Good selection of black and red beams too. I love that set,but power function is bad. It would benefit more for not having it, but saying this you still get that m motor and a lot of mechanical bits. 9395 - a tow truck. 900+ parts for about 50eu? looks good. red/black parts, V4, handy wheels. Did i say it was 900+ parts for 50eu? ;) Would want to hear your opinion on few sets. Logging truck? I sow it on amazon.de for 78eu. Good buy? What about 8880? I like the set and looks like some great suspension, plus lots of studded parts. opinions?

from what i noticed so far: if you want lego for not playing, collecting dust and resale - go for starwars ;) well i dont really think that vw camper will be that much special. look at model teak stuff, fantastic sets, but even that old they still dont go for fhag much.

Well I only came back to lego this Xmas. I am technic head and started off with 8070, 9398, 9395. I started from scratch as all my childhood lego is lost to me :(. I have a busy 2013 year now! Happy days! Plans are: Need to get a lot of random technic parts. On priority list at the moment are 3x XL motors, IR receiver and one more remote. 42000 set is lovely. It's a shame we got to wait till march :(. I want to get my hands on a few older sets. On priority list at the moment is 8880. Great set! I want to start a collection of non technic lego on the side. I just can't decide what to go for! Lotr, Star Wars, monster hunters. :(

trust me, i am a huge petrol head. you need a TRUCK load of salt when we are talking about top gear! they are great entertainment show, but not the best place to look for facts when it comes to motoring
