I bought Kingdom's Joust for me just before Christmas. I was on a Hobbit buying hold until now in case anyone wanted to give me one of those sets. They did not but some relatives make it for the holidays due to bad weather. I did get the business card holder with dozens of printed pieces for letters and numbers and the Christmas magnet. It might be time for me to buy a Hobbit set today. Either Bagend or Warg Attack.

I had not heard of any retailer selling them except for TRU. I was fortunate enough to find it there for BOGO 50% so I paid an average of $3.70 for each. They disappeared from my area already though.

Yooha, In addition to liking all the clever little builds, this would be an excellent way to get some little pieces. Have you considered doing a CUUSCOO for this?

ShaydDeGrai, you found yourself a special wife. My wife and I have an unspoken understanding. I do not mention how much I spend and she does not ask. Still I wish she would show interest in my MOCs. Sigolf Brimabane, I recommend that you build it. I build all of my sets once. Then I decide whether to scrap them for parts. Once you built it, you can decide if you want to change the color. Then it is just a trip to Bricklink to order the same size bricks in whatever color you want. But you might find that the model grows on you. I have never been to Europe but I have been to Solvang, CA where they have a recreation of a Danish village. This set is a perfect representation of that era.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
Blakstone replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
As an AFOL i appreciate the beauty of MWT just as much as large modular town, but I have intention of ever buying either. The CUUSCOO sets approved so far are rather small. It will be a real challenge for the large sandcrawler to pass review based on its size but there is a large fan base in place for it. The BttF set is one that I would buy, but if they did a huge town hall with a clock tower to go with the DeLeoran, I would likely pass. I lack the display space to stray too far from my main interests. -
Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
Blakstone replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sadly only Back to the Future was picked up this time. I thought the modular Western town was excellent but it is not my style. I would have bought the Shaun of the Dead one if that was not rejected due to the R rating of the movie. I think TLG would be able to improve the DeLoren. The flying cars in the new Spiderman set show what is possible. Still it took the CUUSCO project to show the demand for it. -

Lego Mirkwood Elf Guardian Polybag @ Toys R us
Blakstone replied to sgtbernalcl25's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I pulled this from the link earlier in the thread: 17328336. Best of luck to you on getting these. -
I bought it for the parts but after building it, I could not bear to scrap it. The only LEGO sets I leave out on display is Helm's Deep and the Medieval Market Village. Maybe I will buy another set for all those medieval windows and tree parts. My only complaint was that this set did not have numbered bags so I had to go through tons of bricks looking for a single brick. At times, I wanted to go to my own collection to find the piece I needed.

I agree. It is way too early in these lines to get a pirate ship from a very short scene. If they really did it, I likely would skip getting it. As long as they continue to use separate logos for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, they can release the two waves at the same time and for all extensive purposes it is the same wave.

I suspect that LEGO had these sets designed before Peter Jackson split the film into three movies. The fact that some of these sets takes place after the current movie indicates that. I would have had different sets included if I designed it, but the only set I won't scrap for MOC is Bagend. For me, this wave is mostly about wargs and minifigs.

Excellent work Yooha. I would be interested in this set if LEGO ever made it.

It is now common for Marvel action figures to sell a portion of a megafigure in five different action figures. Once you buy all five you can build a giant Galactus as well. What if TLG made a series of Pelennor Fields sets such as Eowyn vs Witch-king, Rohirrim vs Orcs, Mumakil, and Grong vs The Gate? Each battle pack has a different section of the lower city and with a little MOCing this could be used for higher sections as well. It is great that you can continue to add to Helm's Deep with that same wall segment; however, for Minas Tirith is a much more varied wall with city behind it.

The issue with molding the fell beast is that it would have to go in a bigger LEGO set. Remember, TLG has the construction toy license. If they sell just a few minifigs and a molded fell beast, there would have to be quite a bit of scenery to build OR they could do some minifigs and have you build the fell beast yourself. No matter what direction they go, I am excited to see what they do with it.

While they are all very good, my favorite was "Back in home, Back in troubles". That tree design looks unique to me and the stacked stone wall is perfect.

The Wizard Battle sounds promising to me as a cheap way of getting Sauramon but the Council of Elrond would have to have new minifigs for me. If it was part of an expanding sets of Rivendell that would be great. But we already have the Fellowship. If there were new prints on their minifigs, awesome. Right now, I am worried it would only have Elrond as a new minifig. The Black Gate and Pirate Ship have been discussed here for a bit. I am still excited about the Black Gate but would have to see what minifigs are included before deciding on the Pirate Ship.

This sounds like a perfect chase minifig. LEGO could give this one out for free with purchase of $100 of LotR or Hobbit LEGOs during a promotion.

This is a pinned 2013 post for The Lone Ranger 2013 under Licensed already.

I hope that all the minifigs in the next wave have different printing. Otherwise, it is a lot more difficult to justify buying them. The video game cut scenes did a great job of showing possible variations.

70402 The Gatehouse Raid is the one that most intrigues me. Instead of being a castle, it sounds like a gate to a walled city. Perhaps it is something that can be added to me Bree area.

Of the rumored sets, I like the Battle of the Black Gate the best. I agree with wesker that the Eowyn Vs Witch-King is my dream set. I would like it to include two horses with the Rohan bridle printing from the video game, Théoden with custom hair and his regular helmet, Eowyn and Merry with a new Rohan helmet, and the Witch-King with his fell beast. I am a big Rohan fan though so the more options for them the better.

Yooha, I really enjoy this advent calendar. I check it daily. Keep up the great work.

I got the Mill Village Raid as new in box from eBay yesterday. Tonight I only built the mill. This will spread the enjoyment, and hence the fix from new LEGO sets, longer. It was great with all the functioning parts. I am taking it to work as my first LEGO building desk décor. Both MVR and the MMV promised to be excellent part sets for any historic or LotR civilian sets; however, the builds are some enjoyable I cannot bear to scrap them for pieces. I am seriously considering buying at least a second MMV for that.

REVIEW: 71000 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 9
Blakstone replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Excellent review. I will be collecting so many of these. Before this review, i think I might skip the Cyclops but now I want one of those. I do not like the distribution ratio but why do we think that a single case would represent the distribution of every case? Even in WhiteFang's review, it mentioned that later cases in another series showed differently. Perhaps every case would have a different distribution. That is the way it works for collectible card games. I understand that others would want lots of both space characters and the police officer for their collection but my collection is focused on historic and mythology so I do not need any of those. I want lots of the fortune tellers and forest maidens. I have no issue if I get quite a few Heroic Knights and Cylops. I want at least one judge and Caesar. If the printing on Caesar was different I might want more of them.- 171 replies
