I know the feeling. I am waiting until after Christmas for the Hobbit sets as well. But that did not stop me from hunting down the Mirkwood Elf Guard polybags.

I did Castle LEGO as a preteen up until I went to college. I was still doing LEGO during that brief time when I was working at fast food before I had bills to pay. After a decade of being out of LEGO, I gave away all my old sets. The LotR franchise sets drew me back to LEGO but I have bought quite a lot of the current Castle sets (I have the Mill raid coming from eBay as we write). I think LotR has been a success for LEGO. But they had projected before. Hopefully Darth Caedus is right that the Hobbit movies will energize younger fans. But this francise has lifted quite a few boats. I have also bought a PotC set, a Harry Potter set, a couple super hereos sets that I never would have if LotR was not around. Hopefully there will be incredible Castle sets next year. I am amazed out how much I love the Medieval Market Village. I wanted it for spare parts but I cannot bear to dismantle it. I especially like full civilian buildings.

Lego Mirkwood Elf Guardian Polybag @ Toys R us

I did 6 Mirkwood elves today at the south OKC TRU. It is in an older neighborhood than the north OKC location. I also got the BOGO. -

I ordered mine as In Store Pickup yesterday when they showed back on the TRU website briefly. -

Toys R Us just cancelled my Mirkwood Elf Guard order claiming missing info. Is there any change of getting my order reinstated? I have been in call center limbo for 10 minutes so far. -
Do you think Lego will make a LOTR Chess Set?
Blakstone replied to sgtbernalcl25's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I doubt such a set will be built, but if they do, I think Aragorn would be the Free Peoples King and Arwen the queen. Gandalf and Boromir would be a Bishop, Merry and Pippen would be Knights, Frodo and Sam would be Rooks. The pawns would alternate between Gondor and Rohan soldiers. Sarumon or the Mouth of Sauron would be the King for the Forces of Evil. Wormtongue would be a Bishop and Golum a Knight. The pawns would alternate between Uruk Hai and Orcs. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion

That is an interesting idea. I am not sure how much attention TLG gives various LEGO fan sites since there are so very many. But those images spread from EB to quite a few of them. I doubt that TLG had time to make those promo images but they could have moved up their release in response to all the spoilers on sets 10 and 11. -
Do you think Lego will make a LOTR Chess Set?
Blakstone replied to sgtbernalcl25's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I bought the Viking Chess Set off of eBay last month. I have not heard of a licensed chess set and I believe that is due to the license. LEGO has the construction toy license, not the action figure or chess set license. There has to be a substantial amount of building to go with the sets to justify the license. Hence, all the polybags and the Star Wars advent calendar have stuff to build. -
I think that both Eowyn and Arwen have to have legs so they can mount horses like they did in the movies. Galadriel may not have to since in LotR she is never riding a horse. However, Galadriel is likely in a combat role for The Hobbit, So let's have legs on all three please.

Lego Mirkwood Elf Guardian Polybag @ Toys R us
Blakstone replied to sgtbernalcl25's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I hear you. What I did was to buy it online with the In Store pick up. This way I just have to go to Toys R Us once it is ready. If they don't have it in your store, you can still do the ship to store. -
Lego Mirkwood Elf Guardian Polybag @ Toys R us

I just bought the 5 polybags with the pick up in store option. Due to the BOGO I added a Series 7 Minifigure for $1.59. This ends my haunting Toys R Us during lunch like I have done for the last couple of weeks. -

Toys R Us has this set back online again. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=17328336 -
As long as the polybag could be used as an army builder, I would love anything. But I will continue to pass on polybags of unique Lord of the Rings characters. I plan on buy every set anyway. I think the Frodo and Gandalf polybags are designed as an entry point for those still in the Dark Ages. Tempt them with a $5 LotR character and perhaps they will buy more. I dd buy the Thor polybag but that was because I have no plans on buying any of the giant sets he is in. My ideal Army Builder set would be Hama and an unnamed Rohan soldier (not archer) versus two goblins with one brown warg.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
Blakstone replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Muscleman, thanks for the link and the photos. This makes me excited about the fortune teller as she is holding two tarot cards. The judge does have a powdered wig and the mermaid has the better tail (earlier CMF instead of PotC). -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
Blakstone replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Brickoftheweek, I would image that such as theme will run through the CMF line. That is a great way for TLG to get different types of collectors buying the same sets. I am really interested in the Roman officer and Cesear myself.- 1,076 replies

I bought MMV last week and a third Uruk Hai Army this week. MMW was a very long but fun build. Too bad it did not have the numbered bags I have been used to since coming back to LEGO this year. For the Uruk Hai Army, I did not do that build this time. I just sorted the pieces into my collection. I also bought a Guggenheim and two LEGO Friends sets as Christmas gifts.

I just love the Roman officer, medusa, nerd girl, and historic female warrior. Why would we have such good images of pieces of Series 10 before our first ones of Series 9? I know that we have some sketchs of Series 9. Also now that the Series 10 minifigs outnumber a regular set, could some of them be in the unconfirmed Series 9?

I checked yesterday and today in OKC. Nothing yet. I would likely buy 5 if I can find them.

I liked all the characters in the video. Being a very strong Rohan fan, I really liked the different printings of characters such as Eowyn and Theoden. I even liked the bridle printing for their horses. I wonder if we could ever get a LEGO sword specific for Theoden. I might be partial as I have a life size prop replicate of that sword hanging on my living room wall. There was only two other Rohan minifigs in that video. One for Háma, Theoden's doorward and the elderly archer in Helms Deep. I would have rather had that archer in the Helm's Deep set and have Haldir come in some elf battle pack. There was also a variant of Frodo and Sam and things get more desperate for them.

Thank you for the very through review. The photos pretty much captured all the views. I will definitely get at least one sets for the wargs. At this cost, and with only one gray warg, I do not think I would buy a second set at regular price. One it goes on sale, I would be interested in multiples. I would love to see some sort of battle pack in the future with another gray warg.

Found Dr. Splitz on Brickipedia. http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Dr._Splitz -
I bought mine at lunch today from the local LEGO. The manager had to get it out of the back as they were no longer on display. She said that they are allowed to sell them until they are gone. She was glad they did not have to ship them back.

Deskp, that makes sense. Thanks!
