  1. Thanks guys! Book II is going to be fun with most of us staying in the Great Guild of the North!
  2. Get some 'daylight' color CFLs and 2-4 desktop or clip lamps to stick them in. Avoid the 'bright white' variety--they're pretty yellow for some reason... LEDs are probably better, but the price tag for those suckers has scared me off so far.
  3. I really like the angularity of this fighter. And the functional canopy is awesome!
  4. Thanks all! This one certainly expanded my comfort zone.
  5. Thanks SK! I can't claim the hull design, but I also can't remember where to point the credit to...
  6. Cool, I did manage to learn something new today, thanks!
  7. Thanks guys! The sea serpent and I have a love/hate relationship, it was really fun to figure out how to build but a royal pain to pose (and keep it in one spot). You get a real lesson in physics with the weight of the beast trying its hardest to break the friction forces and submit to gravity....
  8. Winner, winner, chicken dinner; this is beautiful Gideon! The little tree on the backside is a great little addition of color, and your attention to detail throughout is magnificent. Well played. Is this a real-life thing? Do we have any civil/architectural engineers and/or medieval castle experts around?
  9. Lots of great entries for the MAC contest from the guild, good luck to all of you! I didn't make the MAC contest, but I was able to get pics taken and posted of my first MOC since CCC (it's been that long? ). "Mitgardian Fishing Trip" Topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85366
  10. Two Norsemen introduce a couple Mitgardians to the clans' traditional summer Ice Haddock fishing activities off the Isles of Solitude. Ice Haddock serves as a protein staple in most Mitgardians' diets--fresh in the summer and salted or cold smoked in the winter--and as a major trade item with Avalonian and Kaliphlinite merchants. The Norsemen did not, however share that Ice Haddock makes excellent bait for luring in Western Sea Serpents... I've had this idea since CCCX and the MOC has been in work in some stage or another since probably April, but I finally was able to knock it out over the past few weeks. This is my first try a multi-level build, brick-built boat and a big honkin' monster. Let me know what you guys think, C&C appreciated! 11. Great stuff! This feels nice and cold--exactly like a Mitgardian MOC should! Filling the holes with wooden structure is something unexpected, nice idea.
  12. I like how clean this is. Using a whole bunch of 1x1s for water is fun, but sometimes becomes the MOC. IMHO you've shown here just how nice plain blue SNOT water can look.
  13. Very, very nice. All the round tiles create a pretty cool effect, and the sculpture is pretty sweet too.
  14. I really like it when LEGO completely fills the frame in dios. This is no exception! Using different levels to deal with the angles coming of the hinged wall was a good call here. I'll have to remember that one.
  15. Digging the stowed sails, never seen that before. The 1x1s in the tower are great too, and look really good with tan.
  16. I would LOVE to live 45 minutes way from Mall of America, that's a walk in the park for many American adults with work commutes and such. Also, check out BrickLink if you can for buying up bulk LEGO.
  17. Yeah, SK, you've certainly been able to arrive at your own building style, and that is pretty awesome. For me, your windows here are a great takeaway - I like how you've added the bars as they seem more realistic than a whole bunch of big holes in the castle walls. I was to make one suggestion, it would be that the Mitgardian colors ought to be flying from the high tower not half hidden in the location they're at now.
  18. I saw this in the background of your ship post the other day and was hoping someone would post something. Love how the roof slopes up at the ends, certainly gives a nice effect of a sagging beam in the middle. I guess I'm in the minority with the cannons. NPU? Yep, however for me they look more like something from the late 19th century rather than the middle ages/fantasy era.
  19. Ditto on the roof! Though I have one question about it - did you intend there to be more curvature in the center section? I'm wondering what the purpose of the 1x2s w/ bar & clips are either side of the peak.
  20. The flowers remind me of Hansel and Gretel for some reason, strange... Is that trans-red piece LEGO or from one of the custom shops? I know I've seen white somewhere before too.
  21. Hey all, I've been gone for a while... took me a couple days to catch up! As near as I can tell, I missed a blizzard, a baby, some excellent smack-talk, that Flickr mess ( what were they thinking?), some great MOCs, and I'm sure some other things... I've got an MOC that's been in progress since April that I'll hopefully finish up soon and I really want to enter the MAC challenge. Hopefully I'll be kind of active for the time being.
  22. Definitely one of the better 'crumbling' structures I've seen and I like the dark grey arches with the hinges too. Great work!
  23. It might be the engineer in me, but the sideways wall looks really strange with the brick pieces in there. If you could have kept those bricks non-SNOT, I think this would have looked better. Still, excellent work here, you were really able to MOC a wonderful decaying castle scene. "Apocastle" sounds and looks fun!
  24. Now that is a treehouse! The angled tree is beautiful too.
