Thank you! I removed the horns. I updated the video, it now has photo instructions. -
[MOC] 1963 Corvette C2 Stingray

All done. This version is much simpler than the originals. I will make photo instructions soon. IMG_0934[1] by James Tillson, on Flickr- 63 replies

[MOC] 1963 Corvette C2 Stingray
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have all the bricks, if I can have access to the instructions I will build it. The RC Grand Sport is almost done. I wanted it to be simpler and lighter, the pop up lights, suspension, roof, opening doors and interior are gone. I'm using my favorite PF combo (LiPo, V2, Buggy motor and servo) the performance was amazing but is dropping off now the exterior details are being added.- 63 replies

[MOC] 1963 Corvette C2 Stingray
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I had a look at the render (WOW, great work BTW), I think the door is right, the problem is with the roof, it doesn't slope up at the front so it runs through the top of the windscreen. Maybe the lower pivot on the roof structure is one stud too far back?- 63 replies

I'm here and I'm working on a RC version right now. RC 63 Corvette Grand Sport Roadster by James Tillson, on Flickr legolijntje is the best person to ask. He had access to the video on google drive last year and almost completed a set of instructions for the car. There must have been an error somewhere and we couldn't work out why the roof wound fit in LDRAW.- 63 replies

[WIP] UNIC URW-706 Spider Crane
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The gear rack and new worm gear is stronger and has a greater range than a large LA (and its red which help with this model). I'm not going to modify any parts but I have thought of a couple of other ways to connect the boom extension to the motor and have drive with steering. Hopefully I can put it all together this weekend. -
I had been having a break from lego but when the new worm gear from 42061 came out I wanted to have another go at a spider crane. I want V2 to have the following improvements: 3 services through the turntable 8 way gearbox so boom extension and drive can be connected to the motor Large LA for the out riggers as the small LA just aren't strong enough The easiest way to get the 3 services through the turntable with in the scale height is by drilling out the centres of two 32498 and using this set up: UNIC-706 by James Tillson, on Flickr I'm not sure I want to MOC with modified parts so V2 may not happen.

[MOC] Hamster Wheel
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, no lego for 6 months then 5 MOCs in 3 weeks. Played for! there is a rubber band that pulls the rodent clockwise. I hope so, I will change it to "gerbil wheel" if I'm stepping on any toes. The "trick" with this one (if anybody is wondering) is that the wheel makes the rodents head and legs move while gravity and a rubber band hold the hamster in place. -
You mean undead! I was thinking of Frank from the movie Hellraiser and I wanted it to be as gory as possible without making people sick. A grey version with red LED eyes could make a good T-800. The arm doesn't pull, there is a ratchet hidden inside that only engages drive while the arm is moving backwards (like most of my builds, its a trick).

I had a day at home last week and before I knew what was happening I had built a rowing boat and a skull... Lego Technic Skull by James Tillson, on Flickr I put the skull in the rowing boat and it reminded me of a crawling zombie. Version 1 was too "meaty" (its amazing how much new red technic looks like wet blood). Lego Technic Zombie 04 by James Tillson, on Flickr I put a T-shirt on the final version. He reaches out, pulls himself forward, bites and looks way creepier in the "flesh" than I can show in a youtube clip.

Its OK to defend yourself but you're not going to win any support by attaking another builder. -
[TC10] FlightSim
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have a plane but it is probably too big. It is only 200g and I think there is enough room inside to make all the control surfaces move. I may have to build a stronger platform. FlightSim PM1 by James Tillson, on Flickr The Grinnall I made was like building a plane but this was more like building a fish. -

GTO is very similar to a corvette; Corvette in black. GTO in white corvette GTO overlay by James Tillson, on Flickr You could copy my corvette and tweek the proportions a bit. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=134385 -
[TC10] FlightSim
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It all works! I could not have done this with PF. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjVVoTLGqUE In the video I'm using the regulator as a throttle to help gain altitude but I am considering a second (lower pressure) compressor for the main controls in order to save the high pressure one for just the altitude. I like the idea of a viable throttle but it would be nice to have finer control of the attitude plane. I'm using a combination of stiff new switches and old easier to move switches to get the best feel on the joystick. -

Joystick with twist for yaw control. The switch for altitude will only open a fraction on descent for better control. FlightSim joystick by James Tillson, on Flickr -

Great model, I can see you have some complex mechanism moving the elevators in step with the movements of the plane; my joystick won't need to worry about any of that. I built a few things before I started this and abandoned them because they were better with PF. This project "won" because altitude change is much easier with pneumatics than LAs; I mean it is easier to run services with pipes than gears because the platform moves. -

I got the elevators, rudder and ailerons all working together; its going to look better when the cylinders are moving the plane intead of my hand. flightSim M3 by James Tillson, on Flickr I could do a joystick with "foot" controls for the rudder but then I'd have to use two hands to fly it. I think the joystick should twist to adjust the yaw. -

I'm finally having fun with pneumatics. Pitch and altitue are in sync. The change in height is 14 studs. FlightSim M2 by James Tillson, on Flickr I think I could make a filght simulator as a C model for 42053. -
My TC10 will be flight simulator. I got the basics working; compressor with regulator, platform with pitch, yaw and roll, altitude is controlled by the pitch. I just need to cobble it all together and build a plane and a joystick, etc FlightSim by James Tillson, on Flickr I would like the plane to make appropriate rudder and flap movements and have automatic landing gear when it returns to the platform.
-
I've build a nice compressor (with a regulator) but I'm struggling to make anything with pneumatic cylinders that wouldn't be better with LA's (or servos). I just build 42053, with the PF upgrade it takes 4 seconds to raise the boom and about 0.4 seconds to drop it.

[MOC] Grinnall Scorpion III
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you all. Glad you like it. I uploaded the LXF to rebrickable. Anybody want to build it with an SBick so it can stretch its legs? I am still a terrible RC driver but I'm getting better at editing video. It is more like a plane than a car. I love the front but the blue panels on the back are all a bit lumpy. With a bit of tweeking it may look better with the newer style panel in orange. Cheers, I like the idea that I have my own recognizable style, or is it just the number of blue panels that give it away?- 18 replies
