42093 Corvette ZR-1
JamesJT replied to letsbuild's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like the little corvette. Looks like 15 studs wide so not quite the same scale as my small corvettes. I hope those new small arches come in other colours soon. IMG_7502 by James Tillson, on Flickr -
[MOC] 1960s Corvettes
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Agreed, it is cute and it all scales nicely with these wheels. Thank you. All of the 1:10 cars have free instructions on youtube, The links are in the first post. Thanks. Everything looks better with chrome parts but I don't have any. I've added some detail to the 1:13 C1. I will be fitting an orange mini V8 when the parts arrive. 57 C1 1 by James Tillson, on Flickr 57 C1 3 by James Tillson, on Flickr -
[MOC] 1960s Corvettes

I have started another C1 but this time I made it smaller (1:13 scale) and had a go at the 1957 rear. So far the chassis only has steering and I haven't decided if it will be RC yet. [WIP] Baby Bugatti
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks. Yes, raising that would make it look more bugatti and less boxster. Thanks. It was only the colour combo that made me think "bugatti". Thanks. I just hang a curved panel on #3 connectors then fill in the gaps!. All the blue flexi disappeared off bricklink (I think it was for a crowkillers model) I learned to live without them. All blue and with the snout deleted it doesn't look like a bugatti at all so I guess this thread is done. IMG_7326 by James Tillson, on Flickr IMG_7325 by James Tillson, on Flickr -
[WIP] Baby Bugatti
JamesJT posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was working on a car for my seamless transmission, I built the back end in both black and blue, put them both on the chassis and this was "born". It wasn't supposed to be a "Bugatti" but it does have the right colours. I don't know if this will be the final model yet. Thanks. There are bits of C and D type in there, I also thought it looked a bit mid/rear engine like a porsche RS-61. I need to make a modern car with this gearbox, it would be nice to have a visual clue (such as a pop up spoiler) to show which gear is being used. The car does reach full speed quicker when using both gears. I have not yet tested it against a version of the car with the high gearing and all gearbox parts removed.
-
I had to change from buggy motor to 2x L-motor because the buwizz kept shutting down. The "seamless change" gearbox works perfectly and I will make instructions for the module. The car is almost done but I still need to tidy the cockpit and the wire for the steering servo. The aim of this build is to make an RC car with a "useful" gearbox. I hope it will reach full speed faster by using both gears. So far I have a gearbox in the 1:10 chassis. It has dual clutch working on the 2 outputs from the buggy motor. Full "throttle" shifts are (almost) instant especially from 1st to 2nd. The gear change servo is operated by the buwizz "light button". On is 1st, off is second. I gearbox works perfectly while driving, there is no pause between gears, but the car is light enough to set off in 2nd. If this car becomes too heavy I have a smaller car in reserve.

I think you (Roni) have to stick to your own rules and let the vote stand. There are 4 fast cars that jump in the (bottom half of the) top 10 and they include (IMO) the 2 best entries anyway. The entries at the top (with more votes than views) can't really be expecting to win a prize, can they? Its a shame for Anto as he missed out but it would have better to hear his opinion on the strange voting patterns before he got taken out by them.
-
There rules were fine except they were not generally observed or enforced. The voting system does need some work. How is that some entries have more votes than views?
-
There are 3 top 10 entries that perform a jump (go up before they go down), Anto manages a fantastic jump with just L-motors.
-
Agreed, thought this does happen with lego competitions (see the Porsche competition or eurobricks TC7). There are several entries in the top 10 that aren't fast and perform a small drop rather than a jump, and there's also tank. I also voted for myself twice to see if it was possible - it is!

This is built on a variation of my Le Mans Racer chassis. The chassis is very versatile and I will probably get a few more models out of it. It looks a lot more like a TR 250 but not on the same chassis. There is a servo in the front but no motor or power for now. -

I tried lots of cars on the same chassis. I eventually settled on a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa but its more like a AC Cobra... IMG_6444[1] by James Tillson, on Flickr -

Wow, thank you for ALL the great replies, this may be my most popular model yet! I made instructions but haven't filmed a demo yet. It only took about 15 minutes to build again after I took all the photos. I made one more chassis to see if I can do a GT40, Zonda, P1 or another car on the same chassis. I will also try full size wheels on the front and laying the servo on its side. IMG_6443[1] by James Tillson, on Flickr -

I made a second car with a stronger chassis. Turns out I only have black and blue parts so no "Gulf" version. IMG_6240 by James Tillson, on Flickr IMG_6254 by James Tillson, on Flickr L-motor is transverse. IMG_6242 by James Tillson, on Flickr I think changing colours in LDD may be almost as much fun as driving it. IMG_6250 by James Tillson, on Flickr IMG_6252 by James Tillson, on Flickr It has the look of a modern hypercar without the rear spoiler. This started as a mini GT40 but decided it wanted to be something else... It has a buwizz and a L-motor geared up 1:3. I'm going to make one more with a changed livery and then maybe try the GT40 again.
