[TC21] Rocket SUV
weavil replied to weavil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I got 2 of them for an idea, but other projects came up first. Well it looks like a jet intake fins and I may have tweaked the scale a little to make it fit. -

Dear lord it felt like a pain in the butt! Sliding the jet back when the doors opened was too hard to fit in the cramped area, so I left it out. -
42128 - Heavy-Duty Tow Truck

For the MSRP of the set, the pneumatics and newer parts, it was being snapped up like cray by builders and parts sellers. On top of ongoing global supply issues. -
[TC21] Rocket SUV
weavil replied to weavil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Now that I had a week free, I've been busy working on this. I forgot to add to the height when I widened it a couple of studs. As a result, it will now be the Rocket SUV. Work was slow-ish and challenging. But I got it done. (I hope!) The rear door linkage: The drive for the wheels, main flaps, and the black gear for the jet engine. Also the drives to raise move the rear wings.: The motor and actuators for the wings. The drive motor is directly under: With the jet: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/weavil/2021/tc21 -

One of the lost pictures: But I remade the whole chassis, steering and how the jet sits. I was not able to make the jet slide back, but won't hurt. The "jet engine" The mechanism for the flaps. And linkage for the tailfin flaps. Steering. Used the rubber connectors to allow for steering when the tailfins are down. The layout. How it looks now. The tailfin. (crap picture of it) -

I ordered some for the contest too and they are amazing. I thought I seen new flip-flop beams in the new sets, I could be wrong.- 5,418 replies

Great work! I was scared for a second when the back was getting closer to the water. -
I thought a jet powered mini van would be cool. Haven't been feeling good so making post felt exhausting. But feel better so here we go. I trying to have: Fold out wings Popup tail fins Opening rear doors The jet to slide back some Moving flaps on the main wings Moving flaps on the tail wings. Started a few days after the announcement and just now posting :( I first tried multi-point hinge and had a nice setup, but almost no way to do working flaps with it. I tried different hinge designs, with all pointless with no working flaps. I ended up keeping it simple and will deal with holes in the body work for the wing movement. The red and black wing it the design I'm using. With it open. I have more pictures somewhere, but had my camera poop out on me so they are on smart devices here and there.

Three Wheeled Loader Idea
weavil replied to weavil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Didn't catch that. It's cause I didn't add a cross brace were the cylinder for the bucket connects on the arm and it catches on the cab. It would look better if there was a bucket that was a little smaller and the "bumper" looking part in the back would be a counter weight. It would be used on more level areas.- 14 replies

I present to you the "3" wheeled loader. The back wheels act as one, It was an idea spawned from a mix of the Bell 3 wheeled sugarcane loader and BM-VOLVO LM loader, so a three wheeled loader. Took me a little longer to build then I care to admit, because of the lift arms and the not having the hoses kink or bind. It's nothing special as far as build goes. It might look better if I had a little smaller bucket. The truck used for the demonstration is a slightly modified version of grego18's on Rebrickable. More pictures HERE.

Looking at it, it appears to 3 pivot axles. Closer inspection looks like new shocks on the back axles. -
Technic General Discussion

The number is fine to me too. However, I think that they are getting carried away with the 18+ display sets. I under stand a licence adds to the price, but it's like they slap 18+ on there to jack up the price. Yes I know 18+ sets are trending, every set over $150 does not need to be pushed as a display set. I wanted the BMW bike to build and for the parts till I seen it was $229. Seems a bit over priced for me.
