  1. When it comes to supercars, is it fair to say then that: Orange is the new Red?
  2. It must have been a rerun, cuz the tribbles are from 40+ years before the new pf switch came up.
  3. Just for the record: DrJB is a fully grown 'he' (male) ... lol That said, And thanks to my 2 girls, I have many pink/purple/fushia/lavender parts in my collection.
  4. I'm sure you could say the same about 8450 The Mission. It is not Technic, yet it is the #1 sought after set by Technic MOCers
  5. I call that era, when we had slizers and the early bionicle, the 're-birth' of the Technic theme. In fact, some people (TRUs sales) called bionicle the 'next technic'. During those years, it appears the technic line went itself through dark ages.
  6. Here we go again. There is no such thing as different profile.
  7. Very nicely done. While I definitely admire the lego adaptation, i must say I'm thinking primarily of the math behind the transformation. If I understand correctly, the transformation is purely reversible, correct? Also, and with a simple Matlab code, one can take an image, put the origin of a reference frame in the middle, use polar coordinates, and the circles in such frame become your bars in the print. Thus, this transformation is not limited to black and white only but any color image can be transformed (conformal mapping). I'm thinking a simple iPad app where one can experiment with various images and transformations ... but I must stop as I'm getting way off topic. Again, very nice contraption.
  8. Nicely done. For sure the kinematics are not trivial and it must have taken some serious time/tinkering to get it right. This reminds me of a recent trivia question: which planet has its year shorter than its day? Also, with the various 'planets' available from the StarWars sets, I wonder if one can possibly build a larger version with more 'precise' kinematics.
  9. I was searching for 'off-the-beaten-track' ideas to replicate in Lego and stumbled upon the article below http://www.bbc.com/a...rcar-that-wasnt It talks about a car Mercedes built 40+ years ago, that used a 3-rotor Wankel engine. You can read more on the article and wikipedia, but the question is: ANyone aware of Wankel and other engines made by Lego MOCers? Granted, one may not have all the triangular (and internal gears) parts to replicate a Wankel but, I've been surprized many times by members on this forum.
  10. i see all these ideas/ discussions about gear tooth profile and I wonder. Most gear do have a 20 degrees angle and they all havethe same pitch/ module. Thus, I am not sure I understand/agree with those saying that the profile has changed. If you leave all conical/ tapered gears aside, all gears made by TLG should mesh with one another, provided the distance is correct. Anyone cares to shed more light?
  11. Really neat. Is this the same vehicle you used for the metal grudge?
  12. Wherever you were, welcome back! Your MOCs have for sure a unique character to them. I like the red CUV a lot. All the Very Best.
  13. Most vehicles lego released had pinion and rack, but not all. The telehandler 8295 had a set of linkages. Though the links did steer the front tires, it was far from a good steering geometry.
  14. I've got a feeling of deja vu ... as if you've answered the question already and I replied
  15. My son and I are having issues to get the NXT motors to work with the EV3 brick. We're having many 'random' errors and, primarily, the EV3 remote simply does not operate the NXT motors. Anyone aware of what the issue is? and if there is a fix?
  16. Whenever I see a contraption I like, built the old fashioned studded way, I wonder if it can be made into a studless construction. While that step seems obvious, going the other way (studless to studded) is rarely possible. Now, the question is this: Have you come across of or can you think of a studded construction that CANNOT be made into studless? I am thinking naturally of a technic contraption with gears, axles, and the like.
  17. This for sure is refreshing. One gets quickly tired of the track links based GBCs. Kudos!
  18. The cars in the top left corner (yellow, white, black) I do not recognize. Can you provide some more details? OSU = Ohio State University?
  19. You've done a lot of work and that in itself is commendable. I must ask though, wouldn't a 3D printed part be a 'viable' alternative? I'm sure efferman can cook up one with as many bushings as you need.
  20. There is a way to do this on rebrickable. You just upload the list from the EDU version, then try to build the Home version, and it'll show you the parts you're missing. You can then export that list to BSX, load into Bricklink, and voila!
  21. Gotta love the color-matched blue engine pistons. That's what I call paying attention to EVERY detail!
  22. Looking closely, he used both old and new panels, from the rare/blue Williams F1 Team Racer from 2002.
