  1. Came across these two marvels and was wondering if anyone brave enough to attempt a lego re-endition, especially now that we have all the panels in white and other fancy parts.
  2. I've got few of those and over the span of 2 years (at most), these do not look as clean/polished as when I bought them. Anyone else experienced this and knows how to clean them? I keep mine individually in a ziplock bag.
  3. Someone jump in and correct me if I'm wrong but ... typically studded chassis have even-widths, whereas studless have 'odd' widths. You looking for a 14 stud wide means you're after a studded design?
  4. Beautiful! ... I just learned something new today: Yes, there is no tail rotor, but there is an air jet coming laterally from the tail, to counter the rotation of the main rotor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NOTAR
  5. Last I checked, that part is not available yet on Bricklink. Also, this discussion reminds me of the portal axles for the Unimog. Back then, many thought those would be used only once, but somehow TLG managed to include them in subsequent set(s). It seems like a part of a very limited use, but then again, it may have the same fate as the bulldozer's cylinder bracket.
  6. I asked a similar question a while back, and the situation is that, you cannot control the NXT directly with an iOS device. You have to thank Apple for this 'inconvenience'. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106308
  7. Does this happen with only one RCX or all 10 of them? Depending on the answer, you'd have few 'diagnostic' options. If none of them works, I'd focus on the IR tower and the computer.
  8. I thought the basic program came on the CD. If not, search for it on the lego mindstorms page.
  9. This car was discussed a while back on EB, but to my knowledge, no instructions are available (if that's what you're asking for)
  10. Smart, but there was no mention in the site policies against 'number' of threads ... unless that's an unspoken rule
  11. Thanks, that's exactly the thread I was inquiring about. How do you find out who closed it? I was not aware such info is available.
  12. This thread is NOT about challenging the establishment, it is more to UNDERSTAND why some topics get closed for no 'apparent' reason. I've had few (2/3) topics closed that still had some 'healthy' discussion. The topics in there may not have been relevant or interesting to everyone, but there was some healthy discussion, and no offensive statements made. I did review the contents of the thread against site policies, and did not find anything in conflict. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks.
  13. That is indeed very sad, but not sure one can do much about it.
  14. It might help if the OP is 'redirected' to the LDD and digital tools subforums. He'll have many answers there (to questions he may not have even thought of). http://www.eurobrick...p?showforum=128
  15. Agreed, that's exactly my point. Relative to the total NA population, the numbers might not be large, but overall, I'm sure they're up there alongside Denmark and Germany.
  16. Very nicely executed. I like how you added the additional smooth parts (opposite gears) to keep the principal axes of inertia aligned with the axes of rotation. Also, in the above design, the rotations of the two inner gimbal rings are 'linked' to each other. I wonder if one can make the 3 rotations totally independent, so as to spin each of the axes independently of each other (with a remote).
  17. Fascinating, I just learned something new this morning. Thank you for Sharing!
  18. Not sure what the logic is here. In the US, children go back to school mid august, and that is NOT the time to be buying toys. Maybe the marketing guys need to 'understand' this. Might as well wait until December when everyone is looking for gift ideas. As for the comment 'Technic is not that big in the US', is this for real? Do we have sales figures to prove this?
  19. True, but it's good to get a feel as to what other people think, isn't it?
  20. Very interesting story. I've been eyeing a large set of trans-clear large plates on eBay few weeks ago, and did not win it due to fierce bidding during the last few minutes :(
  21. 'Sad', but very true. Similar confusing concept: If you take a very heavy box, move it 1 floor up, then bring it one floor down, you've done zero net work. Most people would answer: What? But you do get tired! Can't be that you've done zero work.
  22. I've been waiting to get this but it's still not available in the US. Anyone knows the reason and if we'll ever see it? Or is TLG planning a Nascar version for North America?
  23. So what we're saying then is, TLG started with almost gray across the board for all technic parts, then slowly 'evolved' to distinguish them and group them by 'sub-families' r.g., friction vs. frictionless, odd vs even ... etc.
  24. Just in case you missed it, Post #12 (in this thread) might be relevant here.
  25. There should be law setting a max limit as to how many parts one can legally own ...
