  1. Magnificient!!! Isn't this the same person who did a black Lamborghini Aventador a while back? (can't find the topic) Edit: Lipko already answered this question. +1 Likewise here, I prefer the 'open' look first introduced in the 8448 as opposed to plenty of panels to build a 'shell'.
  2. Can you possibly post a video (in slow motion) ? I spent a great deal of time during my graduate years studying gyroscopes, and I always find them fascinating. I am curious if it is possible to reproduce true gyroscopic effects with such contraption.
  3. Likewise, and that is why many of the new parts are often rather pricey on BrickLink, as it seems they is always a high demand for them when they're first introduced. I had forgotten about that thread. Though, when I started this one, I was thinking solely about 'redundant' parts. I added the second part just to gather more opinions. So, since when you joined the duplicate thread police?
  4. It is just mind boggling how you get your LDD to work like that. Mine, if I have many parts, it does not behave as expected. Are you using a 'special version LDD or whatever is available from TLG?
  5. Original Lego balls are rather pricey ($1 each). SOme people have used bead/balls from China of similar size. DO a search on this forum for China GBC and you might find them.
  6. Were you able to use this (and its sister) for other than holding rubber bands?
  7. You should compare against the gearbox of 8258, that was fully 3-dimensional.
  8. Definitely Stunning! Are you using the 8880 wheels?
  9. Agreed, that is why I said 'seemingly'. By this I meant it would not be that big of a hassle if one is discontinued.
  10. Just to clarify: The reason I suggested the subaru (not a car I like) is simply because besides the Porsche, it is the only one (I know of) that uses a boxer engine. That said, I'd go for either the RED GT3 or R8 shown above.
  11. We've all 'wished' at one time or another, for the need of special parts. Yet today, there seems to be some redundancy across all those parts available to us. In addition to those below, can you think of other parts you could do 'without' ? vs. vs. vs. 2× vs. vs. vs. vs. On the other hand, what parts do you have in your collection that you have very little use for? And thus, could gladly do without as well.
  12. I was in Berlin last June (2014) and took the pictures below. I somehow had forgotten about them. Yes, it's a very large Technic 42009 Mobile Crane that is built entirely with System only bricks. Enjoy! Pictures are a bit large, even though I scaled them down by a factor of 3.
  13. This is indeed VERY promising. Few questions that immediately come to mind: 1. Will it work with iOS? 2. Planned launch date 3. Target price?
  14. Here is a slightly improved version, I reduced the offset by one M. In the pic below you'll see the original design on the right and the reduced offset on the left. This is starting to sound like a monologue
  15. I bought some of those (bionicle part) but have yet to find a good use for them. To me, they seem 'too' specialized, but I'm curious to see how you've used them.
  16. Here is my attempt at using those parts and a 'special' spindle. As you can see, even with a tilted kingpin, the axis intersects the ground way outside the tire's footprint. Of course this is due to my construction having a large lateral offset, but it's the best I could come up with for now. Anyone with ideas for a better spindle? The red sculpture in the back started as a multi-link suspension then evolved into some random/triangular/spiral shape. kingpin.lxf
  17. While I see your point and 'understand' what you're trying to achieve, I wonder how difficult it will be to replicate with Lego (not saying it's impossible). The challenge is finding/building a wheel spindle that goes from the inclined angle you're showing, to a horizontal axle to hold the tire. The 'real' solid axle you're showing too requires some 'special/tilted' spindles. But then again, I've been rather pleasantly surprised many times at the very ingenious contraptions people have come up with on here (my favorite is the offset hypoid gear). So, definitely awaiting for your solution
  18. There is already an LXF/LDD file of the zigzag lift ... check Doktor-Brick
  19. Very nice. How do you plan on actuating the gear shifting in real life? remote levers to push/pull on the black long axles? As for it not being a Porshe, and I think you're referring to the Boxer engine, well, could always be a Subaru :)
  20. I can do an LXF with enough pictures/details ... yes, i'm volunteering. That's exactly what happened to me. I was searching for the MOC while all along I was thinking the first large picture was the real thing. Superb rendition of a very modern vehicle.
  21. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I thought a bit more about the 'tape' and really, to display whole characters at once would be way more involved than I first thought, as the tape would need to move and pause regularly to display ALL pixels. What I find very 'deceptive' and not very fair in these contraptions is that the final product is often the result of several iterations/prototypes. And the final product rarely reflects all the effort that has gone into realizing such mechanism. I've always 'voiced' that the work of enginners is always more 'demanding' than that of other better paid professions (not naming them) but, that is a whole other discussion. Cheers.
  22. my second guess would have been No Pun Unintended. ;)
  23. Not quite sure what you mean. But try and search google for GBC Doktor Brick. Few active members on that forum have made LDD instructions of some of Akiyuki's machines. If you want to read the comments in english (they are in German), you can ask google/chrome to translate such web-page. http://www.doktor-br...hread/?pageNo=7 Make sure you scroll to the first page, and start from there. Does this answer your question or I missed the point? PS. I hope it's ok to post a link to an outside (similar) forum.
