  1. Eh, I'm not sick of humans v something else in Space, I just want a more varied group of aliens, like an alien empire (or empires) with a few species in their own gear, not just naked bug-people. Or something like a return of Blacktron or a Space Pirates group with a varied membership of humans and non-humans! But yes, here, definitely a bit tired of humans v humans... 'swhy I love that Shadowmere exists in GoH, using the 2013 Dragon faction gear with orcs, vampires, and all sorts of other types of Nocturnus denizens.
  2. Indeed... the set's called "Death Star Troopers", so it really should've had a pair of the big-helmet guys (in tunicked DST or jump-suited "ROTJ console jockey" variety, or both!). Instead, those guys are exclusive to the last TIE fighter and the current Star Destroyer...hardly ideal. But many of us already complained for days about the Royal Guards being part of that pack last year...
  3. "Where are my tights?" is great... and Fishwhiskers is a Shakespeare-collar & black-spiky-hair away from being a scaly Lew Zealand! The Mountain Barbarian's also fantastic. Nice series!
  4. I love the Goblin! And the Orc Vet, the Ogre Shaman, the Mitgardian Ranger, the Drow Necromancer, the Demon, the Garra Captain...
  5. I really like the Gorilla Mariner and the Scribe! Nice series!
  6. Here's my entry, hope you enjoy! Avalonia Cartographer The Cartographer enjoys nothing more than traveling the land, finding hidden wonders missed by previous mapmakers. She particularly enjoys charting the Mystic Isles, but is often called upon to update borders for the many fiefdoms of Avalonia. "I can't wait to see what's around the bend!" Tavern Keeper A staple across Historica, taverns and inns offer respite for the weary and a chance for locals to see strange visitors from afar without leaving their cozy hamlets. This Avalonian Tavern Keeper will gladly fill your belly with good food and drink, if you've the coin to pay! "Always happy to serve a paying customer!" Halfling Cutpurse The Halfling Cutpurse plies his trade among the cities of Avalonia, where the predominance of Big Folk allow him to slip easily through crowds, often mistaken for a street urchin. The Big Folk also are handy in that their wallets and purses are within easy reach of the halfling's quick fingers and trusty blades! "A penny in hand is worth two in the purse; a whole purse in hand is even better!" Mitgardia Dwarf Lord The Dwarf Lord rules over one of the many underground cities of the dwarves in the north, using his heavy scepter and warhammer to protect his realm--not to mention the precious gems and metals his people mine from the depths! "Gold, gold, gold, I sure do love me gold...and my people, of course." Ice Warrior The Ice Men of the north were once considered nothing more than a legend, until a clan hunting party lost their way in a blizzard. This Ice Warrior uses his enchanted axe and shield to defend his territory...and scare off wayward hunters! "Ice to meet you!" Forge Guard It's no secret that dwarven women aren't something non-dwarves see every day, but of course they exist! One place you'll often find them is among the prestigious Forge Guards in most dwarven cities, protecting the Great Forges from outsiders and the occasional dwarf under the spell of goldlust. With mighty mallentû hammers in hand, they stand their watch over the beating hearts of the cities. "You didn't believe that rumor about the beards, did you?" Orcish Goatheard Residents of Nocturnus have long accepted that not all orcs are warlike savages, but that knowledge has been slow to catch on elsewhere--often with good reason! The village of this Goatherd in the Orcish Marches of western Mitgardia wants little more than to be left in peace, but often finds itself caught up in neighboring conflicts. The goatherd defends her flock, spear in hand, from all threats, be it wild predators, rival orc tribes, or battle-hungry men and dwarves. "I love my kids! See what I did there?" Kaliphlin Sellsword Soldiers-for-hire are common throughout Historica, but not often well-received. Selling loyalty doesn't feel right to many, but for the right price--and the right cause--this skilled Sellsword's blades can be yours! "Swordplay is like a dance; shall we?" Philosopher This Philosopher attended the famed University of Petraea for years--and never left! When he's not auditing (and interrupting) classes, he can be found roaming the grounds, dispensing "wisdom" and debating anyone he can about his theory of the cyclical nature of existence. "Ah, but what is tuition, anyway?" Ruadh Perfumer Ruadh is home to a wide variety of artisans and craftsmen, including this little halfling plying her aromatic wares. From subtle to cloying, repellant to magnetic, she's got a scent to suit you--even some that are claimed to be magical! "would you like a free spritz?" Nocturnus Shadowmere Captain The Shadowmere Captain is an orc you don't mess with. He takes his duties as seriously as maintaining his mohawk, and brooks no laziness from the troops under his command with the threats of the Black Spire and the Drow always looming. "Step lively, you mangy warthogs!" Redcap Goblin Redcap Goblins have spread across Historica, but they're particularly common in Nocturnus where the rumored practice of dying their caps in the blood of their enemies isn't seen as quite so unusual. Pike in hand, this little creature is no one to be trifled with! "Ankle-biter? Come down here and say that to my face!" Miscellaneous Valyrion Fox The Valyrion Fox is a famed figure in his native land. A bandit to some, hero of the masses to others, he battles corruption among the nobles in certain parts of Valyrio. Some have suggested he's secretly a noble himself! "I fight for the people!" Red Mage Nobody knows where the Red Mage truly hails from, but he's claimed a tower near Cedrica as his own and often wanders the whole of Historica with his mighty wizard staff and wide array of spells at his command. Word has spread that he seeks an apprentice to learn his vast knowledge, but as yet none have been chosen. Pretenders abound, however. Many wonder, with such power at his fingertips, why can't he magick himself a new leg? "The power to change the world lies in which hand?" Drow Warleader The crafty Drow have long plotted the downfall of the surface-dwellers. Warleaders clad in traditional black and silver chitinous armor, wielding wicked curved blades, take point in most Drow raids across Historica, thought they are not the true authority behind the soldiers. "The Dark is rising!" Gnome Paladin The Gnome Paladin is a bit of an oddity. He claims no allegiance to any one guild, swearing fealty to his deity above all else. None are quite sure where he's from, only that his Order of the Broken Cog sounds more like a tavern than a group of paladins. He may be a bit of a zealot, but his trusty mace, shield, and helmet serve him well in his defense of innocents and pursuit of righteous causes. "Have at thee, foul villains!" I tried to keep mine as authentic as I could as far as techniques used by TLG went for minifigure accessories. And who wouldn't love a goat in a CMF bag?
  7. I'd love a return to Fantasy... and Artifex's list is also wonderful. If a new Castle theme encompassed both, I'd be thrilled! More Troll Warriors with new face prints showing some other expressions, a proper Elf faction, more civilians (of any & all factions), etc... and in villager/farmer-type sets, more animals!
  8. Around 2000, TRU had two Hasbro AT-ATs on deep discount. They were both pretty beat-up, but seemed sealed. I bought one, but didn't open it for a few days... when I finally did, I found someone had stolen the AT-AT Commander & AT-AT Driver figures and the side-cannons for the cockpit (or had bought the item, removed them, taped up the box & returned it). Of course the other one was gone when I went back, and since I knew I wouldn't be able to exchange it I just kept the thing the way it was. Better most of an AT-AT than none at all (and the figures were eventually replaced by better versions years later). For Lego, tho, I only had one missing piece, in the Ninjago Golden Dragon set. The red round 2x2 tile was missing; a 1x2 trans-black tile was in its place. An odd error, but no big deal, and the set was on sale besides. Also had a technic half-pin totally SMASHED in one Castle set recently, but there are always extras of those... no errors of note in my SW sets, luckily.
  9. Lego just needs a light-light-gray color Of course, getting all the helmets in that color would take another decade or two. The white helmets were nice, but not many really reflected the grungy look of most of the films' helmets.. the generic blue-insignia ones were perfect for some of the pilots we saw in the hangar in ANH, donning pristine white helmets, but that's about it.
  10. From the first post: Ended on May 1st, 2014.
  11. That's my only real problem with any of these themed series, is that they take the place of a regular CMF series. TLM wasn't quite so bad since there was a variety... couple robots, Old West, City, goofy suit, couple main characters, some historical characters, fantasy... not quite the normal mix you'd see in regular CMF, but close. The Monster Series, so far, seems okay. Lots of zombies for variety and some interesting pieces & prints... I'd rather see a Castle/Fantasy themed wave, but who knows, maybe that'll happen later on. A Space wave would also rock... Blacktron, M-Tron, Space Police, a new Classic Space color, Galaxy Squad, etc. But having the regular mixed-up series is nice, since there's usually something for everyone. Monsters may not quite hit that mark, but there may be something for nearly everyone.
  12. The Monster Fighters' Ghost Train had a few with legs, there was a Castle ghost with legs (and yellow hands) once, and a Fright Knights ghost along with a couple Time Cruisers ghosts who also had legs.
  13. There is so much talk about them because they're both "more accurate to the movie ones", because there are two types: the tunic ones and the jumpsuit ones. 2012 is the tunic type seen as guards and, in ROTJ, as the 'primary' console-jockey; 2014 is the jumpsuit type mostly seen in ROTJ working consoles in the background, and standing next to a DSG on the platform next to the DS main laser tunnel. The alternate goggle face is simply the result of reusing the AT-ST Driver head in all its chinstrapped glory. Edit: Ninja'd! 'swhat I get for tabbing out to look up photo ref while typing...
  14. The 2014 one in the 75055 Star Destroyer is not what you're talking about, then... those are the jumpsuit-wearing INTs, wearing DST helmets, and generally work consoles and assist in Death Star gunnery I think... they need a better name. 'Proper' Imperial Navy Troopers/Death Star Troopers wear the big black helmets as well, but black tunics & trousers, much like Black Tunicked Imperial Officers (like Commander Praji or Lt Childsen in ANH, only with gloves, perhaps different belt-box arrangements, and no badges or code cylinders). There are also those wearing the helmets with gray uniforms, commonly called (thanks to the old Kenner action figure) Death Squad Commanders... this is a silly title for them, as they're only shown in ANH standing in the console-nests in the Death Star observation room (where Tarkin forces Leia to watch Alderaan's destruction, and where Tarkin watches the progress of the orbit of Yavin). Certain pictures reveal they wear shoes (or boots UNDER trousers) like certain other uniformed functionaries on the Death Star, and no gloves common to DSTs or later movies' officers. The 2012 TIE fighter Imperial Navy Trooper/Death Star Trooper is the best version of that figure to date... but the only alternative was the Death Star/Endor Bunker version with the AT-ST Driver/AT-AT Commander helmet. The 2014 Imperial Navy Trooper is the best version of the DST-helmeted jumpsuit-wearing console-jockeys who don't really have a proper name of their own. The 2014 Microfighter SD pilot is the best version of the black-jumpsuit crewmen visible in the lineup when Vader is walking & talking with Jerjerrod at the beginning of ROTJ and in the Star Destroyer pit crews The Crewman in the Star Destroyer is the best version light-gray jumpsuit SD Pit Crew so far... throw a black hat on them and a non-headset head, they become Scanning Crew from ANH as well
  15. While that might be a nice way to go, they do have legs... the one on the left has one leg lifted up in the picture, you can tell because the light's reflecting off it. You can also sorta make out the plane changes in the feet on both.
  16. I agree, a bit lackluster in the minifigs, but at least we get new costumes for Endor Han & Final Duel Luke (previous ROTJ Lukes have all been in the vest he wore until leaving the Ewok village, or in the Endor poncho; the Ewok Village set is the first ROTJ Luke in his vest-less attire, but with the post-lightning flap down). The Royal Guards seem wildly redundant when you can grab 'em and some gunners for $13 right now; a couple Dignitaries would've been preferable, or even a Moff Jerjerrod or other Imperial officer. The Endor Rebels seem drab, but maybe this time around we'll get Nik Sant and one of the guys with mustaches; Orrimaarko would've been so much nicer in there. The N-1 fighter set seems an easy pass since I have the last one, but I guess I understand why it keeps turning up; it's the only non-clone, non-droid, non-Jedi fighter in the PT. The Flash Speeder looks good, but is another of those "feels overpriced" sets. I have little doubt the part-count will seem to support the price, but...still.
  17. Yeah, I'm guessing it's just this, adding more colors to the mix, much like the 2x1 & 2x2 curved slopes that exploded with Mixels, Legend Beasts, and elsewhere last year. Digging the sets so far. Lots of stickers is a downer, but I still like 'em. Great new hair pieces, fun villains (why not the classic Knight helmet for the Mystery Mansion's knight? The vertical slits would better match the cartoon knight, unless the greathelm was chosen to better hide a villain identity or something)
  18. What printed cape? If you meant Han's trench coat, I think The Kid meant "printed on the body & legs" like on various Lone Ranger & LOTR figures, and Star Lord in the smallest GOTG set. Which is about what I expected. Reading the description for the N-1 fighter... belch! $55 for 3 minifigs? At least the last N-1 had another pilot included, and battle droids. Flash Speeder sounds underwhelming for the price... funny to see the Imperial Assault Cruiser, which a couple people swore up & down was NOT part of the Rebels sets, is actually from Rebels...which most of us figured made the most sense to begin with. At least the alternate Kallus and Sabine are both included in it, rather than split up among even more sets... wonder if Kallus' hair will be new, or if folks with the AT-DP can easily recreate it without the cruiser set? It's also possible (tho not likely) that either or both could come with hair AND helmet. The shuttle is a little disappointing... hopefully the Rebel soldiers have something new to them, I was also hoping for Orrimaarko (a hooded figure is seen boarding the shuttle, which many took to be Orrimaarko given the hooded cloaks he & his fellow Dresselians wore in the briefing), and an updated Endor Luke. I gave my old one a flesh hand & a Luke head, plus a metallic silver hilt to replace the chrome one, but his torso's still the outdated Old Dark Gray. But glad to see Han, finally, and to get a modern Chewie in an OT set. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go geek out over the Scooby News and the big Batman/Teen Titans set.
  19. In the EU the Falcon also got repainted black at least twice (once in the abysmal Crystal Star, the other during NJO I think). The first time, at least, also featured 3PO getting a purple paint job--and either Luke or Han or both wore beards, the whole idea being they were 'in disguise' because they were so famous... an off-white dingey YT-1300 would have many wondering "Falcon?" but coupled with two dudes resembling Han & Luke and a shiny golden protocol droids, the fangirls would've been all over them. It was immensely silly. Tweaks to the deco might have worked, but it's kinda refreshing that all that seems 'different' is the radar dish. For 'familiar yet updated' we've got all those nice new X-wings, including the sweet black & orange deco.
  20. Fair enough. There aren't stormtroopers "again", there are stormtroopers "still"... and many people seemed to have a huge problem with the skin color of Finn the stormie in the teaser, some ignorant of the lack of clones, some ignorant in other ways. So he's Force-sensitive, so what? We don't even know that for sure, there's concept art of him lighting up a saber but Han lit up a saber in ESB... if he's Force-sensitive, it's despite being a stormtrooper, not that all stormies use the Force... Luke dressed as a stormtrooper, and he was Force-sensitive... ...the teaser is just a teaser, it doesn't show or tell us the whole story--or even much of the story at all... we know there's a desert world, we know the Empire is still around in some capacity and in a position to fire upon the Falcon, we know there are new X-wings with pilots sporting the Alliance crest on their gear, we know there's a stormtrooper panicked and on the run, that a group of stormtroopers landed to invade someplace, and that there's both a little rolling droid (who is practical! Cast & guests got to drive the droid around by remote!) and some young lady on a speeder also on the desert world, and some guy dressed in black in a forest of what looks like a chilly world with a strange red saber. And we also know the names of most of the characters in the teaser: Finn, BB-8, Rey, Poe Dameron, and Kylo Ren. That is still very little compared to the entire film!
  21. The stormtroopers look chaotic? How so? It's a bunch of troopers lined up on a landing craft. And "Mace Windu as a stormtrooper" sounds ignorant. Stormtroopers are just recruits. It's pretty much always been that way, except for a brief period in the early 2000s when George seemed to want to indicate that they were all Jango Fetts... yet he didn't have Morrison re-dub all the trooper lines in the OT the same way he re-dubbed Boba Fett, and they could've done all of that in the same recording session easily. But canon is very clear now that stormies are not clones, especially not Jango clones... however the cloning process worked, the Kaminoans were already unable to clone Jangos for much longer as of TCW Season 2, letting Shaak Ti know the Jedi would soon have to choose a new template (which never happened, obviously). Clones take a decade to grow and 'program', which is a costly enterprise in both time & money, and it's far cheaper to recruit from among the billions & billions of loyal Imperial citizens, especially the youth, who can be trained up in only a couple years. The war was over, and the Jedi Order shattered. The clones--supersoldiers--had completed their mission (be a 'faceless' army to match the droid army on the other side of Palpatine's puppet-war to, and a secret weapon against the Jedi). You don't need supersoldiers to merely keep the peace and put down the odd little uprising in what is known by the Jedi as "the dark times" but known by most of the galaxy as "peacetime", and the Rebel Alliance wasn't around in a great enough capacity nearly long enough for a new batch of supersoldiers to be required, let alone fully grown, by the time the OT ended. There's no reason whatsoever for stormtroopers to not be any ethnicity... and we also already know gender isn't a barrier, either. The actual fan made trailers that were released before the official teaser were far more 'fan made'-looking than the real deal, with obvious video-game footage, footage from fan films, audio pulled from non-Star Wars projects (one line was actually Ford in Anchorman 2), etc. Someone mentioned if we knew the names of the Summer sets weren't for Microfighters... we have numbers & prices associated with them, but also--so far--Microfighters are a winter-wave thing (disappointing as that is, as it'll probably be years before we have both a Flash Speeder Microfighter & an Imperial Shuttle Microfighter, not to mention all the other fun ones they can do like A-wings, Y-wings, B-wings, Hound's Tooth, Moldy Crow, Ebon Hawk, Slave II, Z-95, Sith Infiltrator, Rogue Shadow, etc)
  22. Fans may have rioted if the Falcon was suddenly purple or yellow or had red racing stripes or was even black.
  23. Elan Sleazebaggano still trumps all. Willrow is an actual background character in ESB... I think the story went that there was a poll or something on a fan site or in the Insider about what's the least likely character for Hasbro to produce--Porkins was chosen. Then Hasbro made a figure of him in the Power of the Jedi line, so fans needed a new one and latched onto "Ice Cream Maker guy", who was eventually given a name & backstory (as, of course, a Rebel spy... which was one of the worst aspects of the anthology EU books, since everyone seemed to be a Rebel or Imperial spy, sympathizer, bounty hunter, etc), which is why when Hasbro finally made him a few years back, his ice cream maker has a Rebel insignia on the bottom--it's a container storing classified intel. Regarding the "tri-fighter", which I saw also referred to as the "guppy fighter", I kinda like it aside from the "guppy" tail...and wondering how it lands, if it lands at all.
