I really like the lines and curves on this one as well as the color. I'm not a HUGE fan of the car itself, but Lego makes it all the better. A hundred dollars? I'll most likely be picking this one up right away.

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion
AncientDayz replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the picture. That sealed the deal for me. I don't care about the $25 - I ordered them, and I can't wait! My car is coming Thursday. Do you (or anyone) know how long the arms would take (shipping to East Coast of the United States)? Thanks. Can't wait! -
My second Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! Two Ghostbusters sets The free balloon cart ...I cannot wait for the Ghostbusters shipment - hurry!

Review Review: 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!
AncientDayz replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I completely agree. Set 928 was great for the time, and I absolutely loved it back in the day - many fond memories. However, a re-issue or a very close to the original set would not fly with me. It's never going to be the original, and anything but the original has the potential to upset the hardcore fans. Also, I don't think many kids today would settle for 928; they would rather have a set like this IMO. It's not classic space, but I like it - in fact, enough to pick up a second one.- 228 replies

Review Review: 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!
AncientDayz replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I have over 100+ sets, and I have to say this is one of my favorites right now. It's probably some of the nostalgia talking right now, but still, I really like it. Can it be improved? Sure. But, as a post above states, it does a great job capturing a classic feel with some modernization.- 228 replies

5,320 ...and I only buy about a third of my sets from LEGO - don't let my wife see that number! ...gulp! Those with more: I'm jealous, and how do you get away with it?! Lol!
-
Well, apparently my wife doesn't know the difference between a plane and a helicopter ...ugh! Lol! In her defense, she doesn't collect Lego, and she had a crying two-month old child with her. She knew I wanted a plane and didn't know there was a helicopter so I guess she just assumed in the chaos that the box was it. Oh well! Looks like I will still be looking for those pictures and the box like all the others - sorry!

Unless the wife made a big mistake, the TRU here in Virginia has all of the artic sets except for the ship (including the plane). If she's right (she was there in person this morning), I will be picking up the ship, portable lab, and base tonight ....can't wait for the ship to make its appearance!

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion

They did! You just can't see it ...it's a ghost! :-/ Despite my bad attempt at humor, I am still super excited about this set! Definitely a day one purchase! -
Do you build with LEGO while using the bathroom?
AncientDayz replied to legoman19892's topic in Community
I never thought about this possibility ...thanks for ruining the idea of buying used bricks ever again! Lol ...yuck! -
I have all but MS with a few doubles (GE x2, PC x2, PS x2.5). I could never get myself to get MS. It looks so inferior to the others, in my opinion.

How do you store your instructions?
AncientDayz replied to ResIpsaLoquitur's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I used to do this exact same thing, but I started getting sick of all the binders. I finally just decided to store them in plastic sheets and lay them flat in a large plastic container with a lid. This way all the instructions are in one case (in I ever want to move them all), and they are still protected by the lid, by the sheet, and by laying flat. -
I want to just toss them, but on the advice of the wife, I carefully flatten them and store them in one of those space saver vacuum seal bags for protection. I don't really care for them, but I think the wife hopes that I will one day sell my massively growing collection. She knows that I could probably get more money with the box. I'm not selling my sets! But, I'll satisfy her by just storing them under the bed. She can dream. Haha.

I don't care for the movies at all, but I definitely liked some of the sets for pieces. For instance, I bought two Helm's Deep for the techniques and pieces. I bought a few other smaller LOTR sets as well. I have no idea what to do with all the minifigures because I have never sold LEGO before so they are just sitting in a box right now.

How do you display your modular building collection?
AncientDayz replied to yanathin's topic in LEGO Town
I lost my sports / LEGO room to my unborn daughter (i.e. the nursery) so I have temporary taken over my walk-in closet with some of my collectibles. Here is a picture of my modulars. I still have a second Grand Emporium to add (and customize) and the Parisian Restaurant to add yet. I am also going to add a park in the corner. So, pictured so far is... 1 Cafe Corner 1 Green Grocer 1 Fire Brigade 2 1/2 Pet Shops 1 Grand Emporium 2 Palace Cinemas 1 Town Hall 1 Haunted House (obviously not a modular) 1 MOC: Stone Bridge By the way, I apologize for the panoramic shot, but that was the only way to take it right now because of the close quarters in the closet. image by illinoisbum, on Flickr -
Thanks for the post. I was going to follow your advice, but my wife actually made my decision for me (she rocks). I came home from work, and she already picked up the house for me - she said that I/we couldn't pass up the set or the price, AND she told me to go ahead with a Parisian restaurant and second GE still at the end of the year. Sweet!
-
I usually get modulars, city, and the winter sets (with the occasional architecture, castle, etc. purchase), but my eye caught the price of the Robie House at TRU today. They wanted US $185 ($15 less than S@H), and my wife has a 20% off coupon. However, with the Parisian Restaurant coming soon, $148 is still a hefty price. Yet, having studied architecture (and living near the house), the build still holds my attention. I know this is a lot about preference, but for those of you who have built or seen the set in person, is it worth it? I'm afraid the build would be too repetitive; the price still too high, and the parts-out not that great if I ever combine it with my "MOC" pieces. Any suggestions / opinions that could help me with my decision? Thanks.

First class creation. First class creator. First class fan(s). That's why I like this hobby, company, and site.

I have all the modulars except MS - doubles of many. I love them. But, this brings it to a whole new level. I was skeptical of the PC and TH before release - not this one. I cannot wait to get at least two. The details and printed elements are great. I'm a little hesitant about the look of it in line with the rest of the street because of the gap at the second floor (notice how they put it on the other side of a corner - but that could have been to show off the side details), but all the details will surely make up for it. I'm usually annoyed when people say this, but I will for the first time: TLG - shut-up and take my money!

This model almost angers me. If not for the stickers, this would be a definite day 1 buy. However, all those stickers are keeping my wallet stuck shut. I HATE stickers, let alone STAMPs. Ugh! What a waste of a great design!
-
That's exactly what I did. I highly recommend two of these ...of course, if price isn't a total issue.
-
First, I would buy a few Ecto-1's in a heartbeat. I really, really hope LEGO approves it and can secure the license. I was excited for BTTF; this surpasses that for me without question. Second, I would LOVE if they released the firehouse as well, but given the size, the fact that its CUUSOO, and the fact that the Fire Brigade is still around, I highly doubt they move forward a firehouse.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
AncientDayz replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I had the same issues on the ordering page, but I decided to go through with it anyway (the note on my page said that any promotions will still be applied if you qualified when ordering). Anyway, despite the technical problems, I just (finally) received my confirmation email, and the hot dog stand and free shipping were included (by the way, thanks LEGO for releasing the BTTF set 30 minutes early so I could grap the hot dog stand before the July 31 deadline)! Anyway, all that to say that despite the problems on the page, my order went through. Your call if you want to wait or not, but it seems like its working - just with a few hiccups. -
I would definitely be interested! I do one every year with my siblings and extended family (we even have a large trophy that the winner gets their name engraved on and gets to keep for the year - sort of like the Stanley Cup - I know that's hockey, but I liked the idea when I set up the league). Anyway, back on topic: I'm always up for a second league!
