  1. I would have picked up the Statue of Liberty if it came with a base like this, even with a much steeper price. Very nice indeed.
  2. I loved dinasours as a kid, and I am still fascinated by them; however, I just don't think they translate well into Lego for some reason. If you can think of a way to do it, I'll jump aboard and get some sets if Lego would run with a great, creative plan, but I am skeptical. Who knows? Maybe you will change my mind as you provide more ideas.
  3. My nieces would love this. I am sending a link to my brother now. He is always looking for "cute," small builds to do with them as they are still quite young but are already addicted to Lego (they go to Legoland 3-4 times a month). Nice build. Thanks! This is perfect for them (and the pink only helps).
  4. Did you find it extremely difficult to convert the blueprints into Lego once you decided on a scale, especially with such a large ship? I mean, obviously thus was a large, time-consuming and creative build, but was it really, really difficult? I was curious because I would love to use some of the old blueprints of WWII aircraft carriers that I have in order to make the USS Yorktown CV-10 Aircraft Carrier (my grandfather served on it), but I am intimidated by the size of the project and the blueprints (so they have just been sitting there since I acquired them). This is extremely impressive - GREAT build!
  5. I am in the mid-Atlantic states of the US in a semi-rural area right now (school). It surprises me because the employees at TRU say that these things sell great, but a few of the boxes have been sitting there for weeks (trust me - I check often). I can only guess that living in small town USA (I am originally from the big cities), the employees just don't realize how these things can really sell (or just don't pay attention to Lego). As to your other questions, I was thinking the same thing. The TRU has not discounted them yet, and I don't want to pay full price (even for selling or trading). However, if they ever do, I will definitely grab some to trade for series 8.
  6. is hoping that work and classes won't slow down any builds this fall.

  7. I am definitely jealous of all of you. I currently am not close to any Lego stores, and my TRU still has series 5, 6, and 7 on the shelves. I have a feeling that they will not be one of those stores to get any sets early (or soon). For some reason, they just don't sell that great in this area. In fact, some of the big box stores in the area limited their series 7 shipments because they still have 5 and 6 on the shelves as well.
  8. I usually don't comment on older threads in forums, but since somebody already bumped this thread today (and since this line is what pulled me out of the Dark Ages)... I really wouldn't mind a restaurant, bowling ally, school/library (to lesser extents), or a theater (although the theatre would probably bump the MOC I am currently designing) - preferably something that can contrast with the boxiness of the Fire Brigade and Town Hall. Others in my family would love to see a hospital (I could go either way). Although they are popular requests, I just really don't want to see a police station, bank, etc. While Lego has obviously never done a modular of those, at times, I still feel like those ideas/themes seem overused. Hopefully we will start getting some hints later this fall.
  9. That's definitely a nice little build you have on your hands. I enjoy seeing some good military builds now and again. MacK brings up a good question about the sandbags; it would be great if those are on there without glue (I tend to be a "purest," but that's just me). Either way - nicely done!
  10. These bring my back to my days as an architecture student. Great little builds. Good luck with your studies.
  11. While I am no longer into the space stuff now that I came out of the Dark Ages, I definitely remember looking at my friend's Space Police 1 sets with a little jealousy (for some reason my parents got me a ton of Lego - just never any space stuff). Given the time frame, we probably experienced a lot of the same sets and Dark Ages. At least you found a few of your old figures - all of mine are sadly gone. Anyway, from one new member to another, welcome aboard.
  12. I think you hit a really great balance between a historical WWII feel and a fantasy/futuristic feel (or, as someone else stated, a pre-mechwarrior feel). The coloring and style are great. It even feels like it has the right weight as you described. A previous post questioned the use of such a weapon during WWII, and while the post is probably (from a technical and realistic perspective) right, I still think this really works especially if you think of it as the early designs of / precursors to future weaponry (as in mechwarriors and Star Wars). By the way, I also love the decals; the two playing cards on the side were a really nice touch. Thanks for sharing!
  13. Nicely done. I was starting to question the power, but - as if you read my mind - you quieted that thought by having it go up the incline.
  14. I have been slowly putting together a band set myself, especially since the release of the minifigures. This will only help. I will definitely pick up one of these.
  15. Now I really am upset that I missed BW. I was in Chicago but had previous commitments ...ugh! This is truly impressive. While I like the theme and waterfall, I absolutely love the details of the building on the inside and out - even something as simple as the color of bricks used on the first floor (a perfect transition from nature/rock to man's obviously created habitat expressed through the popping colors of the second floor). Nicely done. I will be sure to plan future commitments around such events to avoid missing creations like this.
  16. I really like this MOC. It has just the right touch of realism (rocks and foliage) and charm (cave and "horned" sculpture). I also really like the two "cut-outs" to see inside the cave. I know the two aren't the same, but for some reason I think about the ending of the movie Popeye when I look at this. I like that; it brings me back to my childhood.
  17. This bike is amazing! If Lego came out with that today, I would be picking up five - at least. I have a bunch of family members that are bikers and appreciate a good Lego set. I already cant wait to show this to them. I will definitely support - superb!
  18. Hello! I am Andrew. I have been sneaking around Eurobricks for the past year since coming out of my Dark Ages, and I finally decided that I should just fully embrace my new habit and join. Being a math/science guy that grew up playing with Legos, the modular sets really caught my attention and drove me back to the Lego world. In the past year, I have acquired (sometimes with my wife eyeing me strangely) all of the modular sets (except Market Street), and I absolutely love designing a street scene (currently working on a road and a theatre to go with the modulars). I also enjoy collecting the architecture themes, winter sets, and minifigures, but I am looking forward most to doing some MOCS (however, work and more schooling may be slowing me up a bit soon). I am also teased by the older castle sets, but I have yet to pull the trigger for any. Anyway, I just thought I would say "hey" after a year of reading all of your posts. This is one of the best sites to relax for a few minutes between responsibilities (or builds) - so, hello and THANKS!
  19. I have a few boxes (mostly from my modular sets and some exclusives) that I have flattened and wrapped in plastic so they don't get ruined. I don't plan on selling them ever, but you never know what may come up in the future - if they help bring in another buck if REALLY needed (or to support my new habit), then great! Otherwise, I keep my instructions in plastic sleeves and toss the boxes.
  20. I have recently come out of the Dark Ages and started a street plan of my own. You have definitely raised the bar that I had originally set for myself. The tram is great, and I really like the layout of the street. The little aspects like the piano hanging make the details realistic and enjoyable - even playful. I will definitely have fun looking at these pictures in more detail - thanks!
