Lego Technic 2013 sets & info
D3K replied to captainmib's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It may seem like the green trailer has a side tipping function, via one small LA..? Also, I like the fact the 42009 has three, rather than one b models. But if ever there was a set ideal for a construction themed c model, the 42009 has got to be it! Probably has parts to build a pretty decent articulated hauler, or a 8 or 10 wheel dump truck, or a bigger scale recovery truck! With all those wheels, panels, LAs and probably a whole lot of gears, I would say it is a pretty good starters set for people wanting to get a good pile of parts for building wheeled (yellow) MOCs:-) -
Agreed as well, but my grey rims are still on the multi MOC, but will be on the car when it's finished:-)
-
Some progress in the bodywork area.. Front needs to be redesigned, as I had to move the hood up more than originally intended I am thinking the finished car will be a two seater cabriolet, with a fairly long hood (even though it now only houses a V6

I feel GBC is something that should be made by the individual, not a mass produced set. Although, seeing as it is a very popular and interesting form of MOC, maybe a "GBC Starter Set" would be nice, including a lot of balls, a motor, various gears, and instructions for 4 or 5 different, simple setups just to get one started?

I think it looks great! Especially like the doors! Would you care to elaborate some more on how the rear brakes work? Also; is a video in the making? -

It is a pretty unique and good looking model, very much resembling the real thing, with all the wires (or in this case string) and stuff.. That might have something to do with it being popular amongst collectors and thus demanding a high price? -
Two XL motors, each with a 36 tooth gear, going onto a single axle with a 12 tooth gear. this axle has a 20 tooth gear that goes onto the 28 tooth differential:-)

Have several projects going at once now, amongst others this one: Opted for a design without suspension, to make it simple and fast. Some fine tuning to do, and then build a body for it, maybe a better version of my last (failed) attempt at a "car":

Seeing as some of you are not quite happy with my choice of wheels, I present you with the following options. Please feel free to share your thoughts as to which are the better fit First off are the suggested UniMog wheels. While undeniably awesome looking, the car is at a standstill, as neither drive nor steering works Next up are one size bigger balloon tires, on the same rims as I originally used (Technic Racing Small) They don't look half bad, but suspension travel and steering are severly affected. Next are the standard wheels used on efferman's chassis I feel they look a bit too small on this body,,, And then we have the low profile racing tyres, which are the top choice for this vehicle when used for illegal street racing in Iraq and Yemen and the likes And lastly we have the Pimp Daddy supreme setup, which together with air suspension is the favourite amongst gangsta rappers all over USA

You can download an .lxf of the sniper rifle here ... The other guns have several parts I couldn't find in LDD, so I will try to make a model in MLcad later on

Thank you all for the praise! Was honestly expecting some more critisism, as I'm not fully satisfied with parts of the bodywork.. Maybe you were all "overwhelmed" by the small things! Wouldn't have built it if you hadn't made the chassis So thank you Then I would have had to make the car as big as Sheepo's Land Rover Defender My first plan for making this, was actually just that, but I am glad I didn't.. Here is a picture from an early stage of the build, with the original wheels from effermans chassis: Shouldn't be a problem! Give me a couple of days!

So here is my contribution to the ever growing Mercedes Geländewagen MOC car park that's been popping up here lately! I've been wanting to build this ever since I got back into Technic about half a year ago, and Effermans brilliant small AWD chassis was pretty perfect, and finally made me realize the plan. This is my first MOC to prioritize form over function If memory serves me correctly, the "Multi Light" was originally a modified and chopped version of the already modified "Ultra Light" used by the Norwegian Army. The roof is gone, and an all around roll cage has been fitted instead. I think it was ordered by the Special Forces, to fit inside American Chinook helicopters. In addition, a more heavy duty ring mount was placed on top to accomodate heavier weapons (typically a .50 cal M2 machine gun or a 40mm Mk.19 or GMG), and it was stripped further down to reduce weight and increase performance. In essence, it is a platform to bring as much firepower in a small package as possible quickly around in rugged terrain. The particular model I've based my MOC on, was further developed and improved by Arctic Trucks of Iceland. They fitted a turbo, far better suspension and brakes as well as bigger wheels and various other improvements. Here is a promotional picture of the original vehicle: And here is my Lego interpretation of it: It is a truly great car, except when it's raining, as it doesn't have a roof nor windshield, and when people are shooting at you, as it doesn't really provide much protection. In the above picture you can see the reason for the roll cage being attached to the centre, rather than the right hand side: it allows the commander of the car to have a wider field of fire with his mounted LMG. The seats are not full due to the motors and transmission layout, but that doesn't really matter. I fit a working steering wheel, and the red 2L axles are supposed to be the firing buttons for the smoke grenade launchers. The winch is also very much form over function, but it does "work" A lot of old style connectors were used for the roll cage, as I didn't have enough of the newer fixed angle ones Oh yeah; neither battery box nor IR receiver were mounted when I shot the pictures. For the main weapon I opted for a 40mm automatic grenade launcher, loosely based on the Mk.19 and HK GMG. And no; the ring doesn't actually turn. I also made a sniper rifle in roughly the same scale as the car, (very loosely) based on the M82 anti material rifle I want to thank Efferman a whole lot for making the brilliant chassis and sharing it with us all!

Custom parts

I was actually just thinking about glueing a couple of the old (flat bottomed) pneumatic cylinders together! I only have a tube of Loctite superglue at hand, will that work? Says it glues plastic... -

One of my favourite cars, and in a great colour too! -
No, it wasn't in Lego, real life.. I will find a picture, and you will immediately know what I meant by it being "really special":-D
-
Like most of my mocs, it's not based on any particular real life machine, at least nor yet.. But maybe I will? Would be a nice challenge;) saw a really special one online some time ago, but couldn't find it when I googled for it earlier today...:-(

I remember I saw this on YouTube a month ago or something! While I was blown away by it's functions and complexity, I had absolutely NO IDEA what it actually was! But it looks fantastic, and is truly unique! Great work! EDIT: Not to mention THE SIZE!! EDIT 2: Sorry, I thought this one was yours : Everything I said above still applies though! Can't wait to see a video of yours in action!

As I wait for parts for my MB 290 G project (you might have seen it in efferman's Unofficial Bodybuilding topic), I have spent a couple of hours working in LDD on a new thing. The turntable is a dead giveaway.. yes, it's going to be an excavator And yes, it's going to be motorized. The plan is to have one batt box and four motors in both the chassis for drive, steer, blade and rear outriggers. And then a separated system of PF elements in the superstructure for the usual excavating stuff. While designing this, I made an ackerman steering solution, that allows the wheels to pivot inside the rims! It wa pretty simple, so it has probably been done before, but I can't remember having seen it anywhere,, Picture:

unoffical Body building challenge
D3K replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks! none of them are final though, Experimenting with a few different designs.. Was going for an MG3 for the smaller ones, but they look more like something completely different! Will do some more experimenting after the weekend! Also; can't decide whether to have a .50 cal or a 40mm AGL on top! I'm happy with the front of the car (current winch is only a substitute for one I've ordered), but the hood, among other things, need a lot of work! -

Is this the same truck as the FAUN heavy transporter/hauler of the Bundeswehr? The one they use to transport tanks and such? -

I'm still doing this This is what it looks like so far: Had to replace the original wheels, as they looked a bit puny for this car. Also, the wheelbase of the chassis is a bit longer than the original vehicle I think, so I had to "widen" things up a bit! Waiting for a bricklink order to make more details and stuff... When I eventually finish this, I will make a separate topic, to explain some things about the origin of this vehicle, and (if I can manage to boot up my old PC) show some pictures of the real thing
