  1. Very few problems with this thing. Just the usual missing bits. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5550 - Custom Rally Van [Model A] - theme: Model Team Errors: Some important parts for the rack and pinion steering system (4261, 4442) are not available in LDD - replaced with a really ugly brick and plate solution No stickers LXF (LDD 4.3.6) 5550 - Custom Rally Van [Model B] - theme: Model Team Errors: Some important parts for the rack and pinion steering system (4261, 4442) are not available in LDD - replaced with a really ugly brick and plate solution No stickers LXF (LDD 4.3.6)
  2. I am very impressed with these little things! If the price is right, I might get it just to have them.
  3. That makes more sense than my "cold flow" theory. Heh, I'm following ADHO15's lead, in a way. A good description makes it easier for you to tell me the cause, and if the techniques are actually legal, as with the above. I learn a couple of new things about the design process each time I take on a large or classic build.
  4. Aw snap, it's been about 20 years since I watched a drag race, and I now remember seeing those things burst out. Cheers!
  5. Unfortunately, these parts are very loose in reality - they're typically used to connect all such as trailers to vehicles, and need to be able to move freely.
  6. I just managed to slide a technic bush over the edge of a steering wheel (2819). This is also highly noticeable with a half bush, but just about anything with a technic hole seems to intersect like this. Weird! LXF example
  7. I got this thing finished now that I can attach those rucksacks to the back of it. Why are they even there? WHAT DO THEY DO?! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5533 - Red Fury [Model A] - theme: Model Team Errors: Illegal build technique / possible LDD bug (page 11, step 15): The knobs on a 1x3 plate can't be inserted into the technic holes on part 6451 (Technic Brick 1x1). I thought the issue normally arises with trying this on a larger technic brick across multiple holes, so I dunno if this should happen. I spoofed it with three 1x1 plates. Part 4859 (Wedge, Plate 3 x 4 without Stud Notches) not available in LDD, replaced with 48183 Part 2994 (Wheel 30.4 x 14 VR) not available in LDD, replaced with 30285 (it still attaches to the axle pin, although it wouldn't do that for reals) Part 6578 (Tire 30.4 x 14 VR) not available in LDD, replaced with 58090 Part 2998 (Wheel 81.6 x 34 Six Spoke) not available in LDD, replaced with 44772 Part 2997 (Tire 81.6 x 34 ZR Technic Straight Tread) not available in LDD, replaced with 92912 No elastic bands No stickers LXF (LDD 4.3.6) 5533 - Red Fury [Model B] - theme: Model Team Errors: Illegal build technique (page 44, step 10) The axle pins won't properly insert into the steering assembly - I assume that this is because the steering rack would cause "cold flow" on the pins. The pins have been incorrectly inserted, but they still make a connection. Illegal build technique / possible LDD bug (page 70, step 13 / substep 5): The knobs on a 1x4 plate can't be inserted into the technic holes on part 6451 (Technic Brick 1x1). This time I got around it with 1x1 plates and a 1x2. Part 4859 (Wedge, Plate 3 x 4 without Stud Notches) not available in LDD, replaced with 48183 Part 2994 (Wheel 30.4 x 14 VR) not available in LDD, replaced with 30285 Part 6578 (Tire 30.4 x 14 VR) not available in LDD, replaced with 58090 Part 2998 (Wheel 81.6 x 34 Six Spoke) not available in LDD, replaced with 44772 Part 2997 (Tire 81.6 x 34 ZR Technic Straight Tread) not available in LDD, replaced with 92912 Because of the incorrect wheel hub replacements, the grey bushes normally used to secure them have been placed further inwards on the axles. No elastic bands No stickers LXF (LDD 4.3.6)
  8. This is more a of a curio, since I doubt it can be used like the real part would. 47674, 47675 & 47676 - X-POD Container LXF (LDD 4.3.6) (I don't want to make the trailer!)
  9. I got in the spirit of building some old Legoland sets, and I needed a couple of these. 5032-1 / 4629c01 - Jack LXF (LDD 4.3.6) I'm going to try and make this next, and I am absolutely dreading it, because I already know that it won't look good.
  10. Oh my. I've just noticed in Superkalle's LXF... that little hinged sunroof from days of yore. There is hope for the old bits yet!
  11. Set 40026 has been updated to LDD 4.3.6, Brick Version 1128, to take advantage of a bugfix.
  12. Aww SWEET. Now I can properly place the "flame" for 40026 - Statue of Liberty without LXFML hax!
  13. Part 11477 is there! BOOGIE TIME
  14. Your work on this is much appreciated. I only recently found out about the LDraw export feature in LDD, and I was all ready to make some nice renders in POV-Ray with C3POwen's parts pack, but I gave up after having it export a load of models with missing parts. It turns out that LDD installs a VERY out of date XML file.
  15. I don't know if this is something that was changed in 4.3.6, or if it is something earlier which I have only just noticed by accident, but I really appreciate being able to "re-use" an open LDD window to load new files from Windows Explorer. I remember that LDD used to show an error message if it was already open. Now I can even drag a file into it! Wouldn't it be great to have a dialogue box pop up to ask if the file should be opened as a new scene, or added to the currently open scene, like a shortcut for the "File > Import model" option? Imagine the workflow!
  16. Here's another mini Christmas Tree. I have nearly enough of such things to stack them on top of each other and give the impression of a single, much taller tree. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40024 - Christmas Tree [Polybag] - theme: Seasonal LXF (LDD 4.3.6)
  17. Just wait until you have to deal with multi-coloured parts and mould variations too - transposing things for Bricklink is a nightmare. I gave up doing exactly the same thing you are doing, because it's not worth the time spent when Superkalle is much further along than I'll ever get.
  18. I thought these were already in the index, but it seems not! I've been sitting on them for a while now, hence why they are so warm (and also made with LDD 4.2.5). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 30180 - Twin Prop [Promo] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.2.5) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 30181 - Helicopter [Promo] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.2.5)
  19. Check POV-Ray's "Render" menu for the "Render Priority" and "Duty Cycle" Options. By default, POV-Ray sets "Render Priority" to normal, and "Duty Cycle" to 80%. Some lower settings for these might be what you want. EDIT: There is also an option directly below these, to limit the amount of threads used for processing, but this cannot be changed once POV-Ray is performing a render. I recommend starting up POV-Ray first.
  20. Yeah, I wasn't happy about relying on jQuery, but my own solution ran into the same problem. I've uploaded it here, for curiosity's sake. It can't hurt to take a look, maybe we've tackled the same problem from different angles.
  21. It looks like I missed your example while my mobile internet was crapping itself, but those ideas are actually things I intended to do for my own abandoned project, so the work was halfway done already. The challenge was finding a lightbox script compact enough to keep everything in one file. I cheated by having an external link to Google's hosted jQuery library, because everything requires jQuery these days. DAMN THAT JQUERY AND ITS WHOLE EVERYTHING.
  22. Just popping in to mention that the "unhide" behaviour mentioned above is fantastically useful when working with large models that have grouped assemblies. I often progressively hide entire groups when error checking or making changes, and the requirement to unhide everything and repeat the process of step-by-step hiding was frustrating. Even if a group is already hidden, you may select it again with the hide tool, then click on "undo" to reveal it. I don't know if this is an intended feature, or merely a side-effect from the user putting another step into the program's undo buffer, but it's still super-useful!
  23. Nice! I went and digitised the thing. DOUBLE-NICE.
  24. Here we have half a dozen disappointingly small polybags, which were given away with Suntory soft drinks in 2005. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7271 - Apple [Promo] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7272 - Pear [Promo] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7274 - Orange [Promo] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7275 - Cherry [Promo] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7276 - Mango [Promo] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7278 - Melon [Promo] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And here are another half a dozen, which were given away with Capespan fruit portions in 2007. There is a 7th polybag in the series (7178 "Chef"), but it's a minifig, and I'm sure there's a thing about not posting minifig-only sets here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7172 - Apple [Promo] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7173 - Pear [Promo] - theme: Creator Note: Seems to be identical to 7272-1. Lay-zee. LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7174 - Banana [Promo] - theme: Creator Note: Oh nice. LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7175 - Grapes [Promo] - theme: Creator Note: Nicer. LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7176 - Watermelon [Promo] - theme: Creator Note: NICEST. LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7177 - Orange [Promo] - theme: Creator Note: Seems to be identical to 7274-1. Booooo! LXF (LDD 4.3.6)
