  1. Interesting find! Is the item ID the same? I agree with L@go that this part can be difficult to attach and detach, and it can result in too much friction, depending on its usage. I used 4 of them in a sports car MOC to make a hinged rear window, and it was so stiff that I had to reduce it to just two. I wince every time I have to clip these onto something, since I have already cracked three of them.
  2. An .LXF file is basically a renamed .ZIP file. You can rename the file extension to allow the "IMAGE100.lxfml" to be extracted, or open the .LXFs directly with something like WinRAR or 7zip.
  3. It's almost that time of year! ...When little monsters come knocking on your door. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40020 - Halloween Set - theme: Seasonal LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40021 - Spiders Set - theme: Seasonal LXF (LDD 4.3.6)
  4. So apparently one of the seasonal sets for this festive season is a Christmas Tree. Who better to build this than me, Mister Smiff, the builder of christmas trees? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40058 - Decorating the Tree - theme: Seasonal Errors / Notes: HOW GREAT IS THAT TOY TRAIN LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40059 - Santa's Sleigh - theme: Seasonal Errors / Notes: Print for element ID 4540429 not available in LDD, replaced with equivalent Some things in the back of the sleigh have been positioned to look as close to the preview pic as possible, which means that they aren't attached to anything. I actually gave up messing with scaffoldings when trying to position the yellow present, so the Elf is holding it intead. LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Minifig prints... sigh. One day.
  5. Wao, this is like one of those Easter Egg things! I don't think I could have found out about this even by accident. Updated the file for all you lovely people.
  6. This is a stab in the dark, but there's a chance that the file appended with "_000" is another part of the file that wouldn't fit in just one cluster on the disk. You could try opening a command prompt and doing a binary join to see if it produces a complete file:
  7. I've been hoarding something for this very purpose! LXF (LDD 4.3.8) EDIT 20131115: Updated the LXF to include some examples of wheel covers. EDIT 20140311: Added "4288 BALLOON TYRE", "44292 RIM Ø 30.4 X 30", moved some stuff about
  8. Good job, too. Imagine the havoc I could wreak if he didn't keep me in check!
  9. Here are the two Creator exclusives for Christmas which I will probably never get to have, because I've already bought everything I want this year. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40082 - Christmas Tree Market - theme: Creator / Seasonal Errors: Print for element ID 4540429 not available in LDD, replaced with equivalent LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40083 - Christmas Tree Delivery Truck - theme: Creator / Seasonal Errors: Print for element ID 4586453 not available in LDD, replaced with equivalent Print for element ID 6032107 not available in LDD, replaced with equivalent LXF (LDD 4.3.6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Huzzah for leakings!
  10. [anticipation intensifies]
  11. You can get one by ordering through the "Request a LEGO Catalog" link near the bottom of the official website. A few days after my requested catalogue arrived, I got another (voucherless) one all wrapped in cellophane. Turns out I was already on their mailing list.
  12. Yeah, it would be weird if they give not one, but THREE of those sought-after things for such a low price. The picture on the voucher (see above) got the theory-loving part of my brainial gland all excited. Oh well.
  13. It might have something to do with the voucher on the back of the Autumn 2013 Catalogue. The caption reads: EDIT: Have a pictuar: The conditions also state that it's not available online. Have any members in Mainland Europe spotted this on their catalogues?
  14. This would be a brilliant thing, and it needs to happen.
  15. You have a semicolon (;) in front of the Library_Path line. That essentially turns the line into a comment, which makes POV-Ray ignore it.
  16. Here is a second for the Index. I am interested in these things for the unusual parts selection, honest! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5873 - Fairy Land Promo [Polybag] - theme: Belville Errors: Part 6186 (Teddy Bear - Arms Up) not available in LDD, replaced with 98382, solid coloured. Part 4150px26 (Yellow Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Orange Dots (Flower Center) and Red Ladybug Pattern) not available in LDD, left blank. The transparent frog and the magenta flower are once again using the Power of WAGH! to float, maybe this will be available in LDD 5. LXF (LDD 4.3.6)
  17. WE BELVILLE NOW. Is this a first for the Index? I think it is. This set seems a little bit creepy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5872 - Golden Land Promo [Polybag] - theme: Belville Errors: Part 4088 (Brick, Modified 1 x 4 x 2 Center Stud Top) doesn't seem to be in LDD, though I'm sure I saw it, once. Replaced with brick-built solution for now. Part 6186 (Teddy Bear - Arms Up) not available in LDD, replaced with 98382, solid coloured. Part 3068bpb056 (White Tile 2 x 2 with Bird, Fish, Flowers in Quatrefoil Magenta/Gold/Medium Orange Pattern) not available in LDD, left blank. Magic sparkles under the levitating 2x2 tile not available in LDD. Magic sparkles or levitating tile not possible in real life. LXF (LDD 4.3.6)
  18. I should have made myself a bit more clear. The graphic design of the booklet doesn't seem to fit with what we are accustomed to.
  19. For those who have LDD up and running, some digital models of the recently leaked instructions have been reproduced here. These should not be taken as representative of the final things, but they may answer some questions: The part count for the Monkey and Toucan set puts it past the £10 level; more like £15. Disappointed about not getting 11458 in black, but set 31017 at least offers a decent selection of 11477, in black, white, and orange. You won't be putting minifigs in the alternate models for 31017, unless you like things looking all wrong (or to prove a point, visually). EDIT: New question: what is up with that preview of 31019? It's not consistent with the CREATOR style.
  20. The reservations that were in this post have been done, and you can find them in the Official Thread. GO AND SEE!
  21. Look at the 31017 Racing Car, on the side fairings just behind the orange cheese slope... it might just be a trick of the light, but could that be part 11458 in black? The instances on the front of the truck (holding the trans-black bionicle eyes) look like current dark bley. The roof of the truck hints at some trans-black 1x1 round plates, but again, that could be a lighting thing, and just some trans-red. EDIT: yeah, it's trans-red. Regardless, both this and the 31019 Monkey & Toucan look like nice little £10 sets with some parts and colours that I am lacking, so of course I MUST HAVE THEM.
  22. It is also possible to change the brick palette at any time during building, by going to the menu and choosing "View > New Themes", then choosing from "LDD", "LEGO Mindstorms", or "LDD Extended". This choice will be saved along with the file, so even something that has been saved in one mode, may be overwritten in another. Extended mode is much more flexible for replacing colours, with it's facility to do so simply by using the colour select tool, then choosing a new colour while those parts are selected. Leewan's advice is solid gold, though, especially if you are in the mood to experiment with liveries.

  24. Sometimes intersections can be good - especially if you are on a highway and you want to get off somewhere - otherwise you would need to keep on driving until you end up in the wrong place. Sometimes intersections can simply be wrong. Halfway through making 13 more things with which to bother Calabar, I stumbled on this mad intersection bug, which seems to affect several "click hinge" parts when placed in system above or between knobs (I believe people like to call 'em "studs"). The LXF example includes a selection of click hinge "forks", with and without ½ knob offsets, in brick and plate form, plus a couple of other parts that I was able to place simply. I also noticed that the "stubs" for the other part of the click hinges can also cause intersection issues. Mercifully, this only seems to affect modified plates such as 44301 and 44567. Hopefully this is only an issue with the geometry and behaviour of these specific hinge shapes, and not a greater problem which would be a line-by-line code nightmare to fix. LXF exAAAAAAAAAmple
