  1. It's easy to forget the little things at this busy time of year... So here are some little things that may have been forgotten. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40025 - New York Taxi [Promo] - theme: LEGO Brand Store / SHOPatHOME LXF (LDD 4.3) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40026 - Statue of Liberty [Promo] - theme: LEGO Brand Store / SHOPatHOME LXF (LDD 4.3) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40049 - Mini Sopwith Camel [Promo] - theme: LEGO Brand Store / SHOPatHOME LXF (LDD 4.3)
  2. This is quite a nice boxed set, considering it barely tops 120 pieces. The themes for all three models (Formula Racing Car, Go-kart, Quad-Bike) have been explored previously, but it's nice to have all three in the same box, and it appears to be a great value set which will complement the collection of any Creator fan. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 31002 - Super Racers [Model A] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.3) 31002 - Super Racers [Model B] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.3) 31002 - Super Racers [Model C] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.3)
  3. I thought I was almost done with all these Mechas... then the Creator theme goes and brings a couple more. What a pain in the bot! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 31007 - Power Mech [Model A] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.3) 31007 - Power Mech [Model B] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.3) 31007 - Power Mech [Model C] - theme: Creator LXF (LDD 4.3)
  4. I just ripped the list now, and I was about to convert it to XML until I noticed that the list only contains the 7-digit Part IDs. I could get the Design and Colour IDs, but that would involve sending over 1,600 automated requests to Brickset just to get the info, and I don't think they'll appreciate that.

  7. I support this topic, despite my fear of ennui from recreating some of the Designer Sets. As much as I enjoy the Creator theme lately, TLG really went that extra mile with the instruction booklets for some of the Designer Sets. Even in sets which featured instructions for a dozen builds, there were many interstitial pages, full of concept drawings and ideas. If only I could afford the cash to buy all those sets, or even to reverse-engineer them... I see great potential here for discovery and collaboration.
  8. [EXCLAIMATION MARK] Agh, I can't believe I overlooked that. Still, we learn, and that's what makes skullmeat better than all the other juicy bits inside our macrofig selves. These quirks and changes have most likely been covered in other threads, but forum search engines are famous for being cack, and I can't remember if my own tinkering - or information from other members - led to the discovery. Although it may seem as though there is a a deluge of information, it really is worth swimming through the indexes for methods 'n' epiphanies.
  9. *raises hand* Mister Luders! I'm confused by your steps! They seem to describe the process for LDD 4.2.5 (and possibly prior to that), but some changes were made for 4.3.5. I notice that step 1 involves choosing a replacement colour BEFORE selecting the parts to be replaced; this is a quirk which has frustrated me many times, and I became so used to it, that I needed time to adapt to the new method. LDD 4.3.5.'s process for recolouring multiple selected parts is less prone to error: In the tool palette, click the "pointer" icon, then choose the "color selection tool", and click on a part with the colour you would like to replace. Again, in the tool palette, click the "paint bucket" icon, then make sure that the "paint tool" icon is highlighted in orange, and click the icon to the right of it to open the colour palette. This is the big change: even if the colour you desire is already selected, you must still open the palette and click on it to replace the colour. Apologies if I seem pedantic; some LDD users may still be running an old version of LDD by choice or circumstance. If not, updating to 4.3.5 is worth it. DOOOOO ITTT.
  10. It appears that North America already has these 2013 sets for sale in SHOPatHOME. 11. It appears that part 30602 (coloured trans-orange) and part 30603 (coloured black) can overlap in ways that may not be physically possible. (LXF example)
  12. Apologies, I should have clarified this (friday night shenanigans). The confusion is caused by 18 instances of 6141 (medium bluish grey) and 4 instances of 6141 (silver?). I've tried to use common sense by placing the 1x1 round silver parts in what I consider to be purely cosmetic positions. Hoo, interesting thing. While building set 4508, I managed to slide this part over a tube (75535) and nearly thought I had a new bug for you. However, I DID discover a legitimate collision bug while building this set. It's not as awesome as being able to shove large things into small holes, but expect an update in the bug-o-matic soon!
  13. Lots of great ideas going on here! I especially like the ammo clip for the chaingun, and the poseable hands for both mechs.
  14. I'm running out of Designer Sets to digitise! I'm about to hit Rock ROBOTtom! I am also running out of robot puns already. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4508 - Titan XP [Model A] - theme: Designer Error: 32187 (Middle Ring) cannot be connected to the technic bricks on the robot's back by using friction pegs, so they have been connected with the two spare 6562 (Connector Peg with Cross Axle) instead. These parts don't seem to accept any sort of technic snap, whether from pegs, modified plates or modified bricks. At a glance, the part appears to have only half a snap's depth available for the peg to snap into, so could this be an illegal building technique? LXF (LDD 4.3) 4508 - Titan XP [Model B] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3) 4508 - Titan XP [Model C] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3) 4508 - Titan XP [Model D] - theme: Designer Error: The minifig legs used for the Titan's "fingers" seem unable to be inserted into many things, besides a minifig torso. This also means that they cannot be inserted into the back of a headlight brick, as per the official instructions. I have left the minifig legs in front of the Titan's feet, and created some new hands for it. LXF (LDD 4.3) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things I'm not sure about: Cripes it is hard to discern between medium bluish grey and metallic things in those instruction PDFs

  17. I recently got a big parcel in the post - it was this thing: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6753 - Highway Transport [Model A] - theme: Creator Errors: The trailer cannot be connected (it doesn't make a connection in the real model anyway), but it has been positioned so that it looks correct The sports cars, while positioned on the trailer as accurately as possible, do not make connections with it, so consider this when moving anything. LXF (LDD 4.3) This is a duplicate, but the other one seems to be incomplete. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALSO! A bonus LXF, with 6743 - Street Speeder placed on the trailer (See a preview on my Brickshelf)

  20. That is one heck of an accolade. Did you build the display stands too? :B

I came here expecting to see a recreation of some stilton! Instead I got the beginnings of another mindblowing Sci-fi creation from Shine. ...I hate stilton.
  22. Creator set 5867 (Super Speedster) is such a great set, isn't it? All three models are really detailed, inspiring, and fun to build. If you are like me, and you have a weakness for Vintage Roadsters, The Lego Club bonus model instructions make the set even better. I rebuilt that model one afternoon, and pondered one aspect of its design - it makes use of some of the spare black and light bluish grey pieces from the kit to give the impression of a lowered soft-top roof. What would this model look like, if the roof was raised? I had a few spare bits that could be put to good use, so I decided to create a raised roof within the limits of my tiny bit bucket (and similarly-sized brainial gland). Here is the result! Now one doesn't need to consider British Precipitation when debating whether to take part in this year's London to Brighton Run. Huzzah! I'm quite pleased with the overall look, considering the limits of my available pieces, and the constraints on the geometry. The roof assembly actually tilts forward by a few degrees to allow the hinge plates at the back enough clearance. I love it when a plan comes together! The roof's tilt really complements the look of this mod - but it was a "happy accident". The windscreen's connection allowed it to be moved back, which created a gap below the black plates used for the top of the roof. The forward tilt for the whole roof assembly was now possible by using the spare red hinge bricks (and plates) from the main Super Speedster model. Just to make sure that what I was making didn't violate building conventions, I recreated it in LDD. The only thing I couldn't place was the black 1x4 tile below the rear windows. Download the LXF for yourself, you dastardly bounder.
  23. I found a couple of weird things! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm pretty sure gears do not work that way. This may have actually happened in a few official models' LXFs that I've built. (LXF example) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now this is just bizarre. If I have two technic bricks right next to each other with the holes lining up, I can insert part 41532 right through one of them to connect to the other. (LXF example)
  24. No pun today. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4403 - Air Blazers [Model A] - theme: Designer LXF (LDD 4.3) 4403 - Air Blazers [Model B] - theme: Designer Errors: The side windows, made by part 2362 (Wall element 1x2x3) should be tilted 14-15 degrees on the hinge bricks below them. This causes collision errors when building above them, so they have been placed upright. The front windows, made by part 46413 (Shell 4x8x2 with Forks) create a "hitbox" which interferes with part of the instrument panel. These parts have been left at the front of the model. None of the technic assemblies work, due to limitations with LDD. This includes the landing gear controls, and the intriguing method of making the rotor spin. Rubber Band 41752 not present in LDD LXF (LDD 4.3) 4403 - Air Blazers [Model C] - theme: Designer Errors: Part 4599 (Tap) cannot be attached to part 32000 (Brick 1x2 with 2 Holes) - the knobs on top of the taps should be inserted into the holes on the technic brick. The taps have been left underneath the model. Rubber Band x88 not present in LDD, replaced with part 2185 (Tyre for Wedge-Belt Wheel) LXF (LDD 4.3)
