  1. I'm not so sure about Simpsons 2 being the worst series ever. Even if people don't like the molded heads, there were some great parts in that series. Lots of dual molded arms in many shirt colours, some good torso prints for City fans (Homer, Moleman, Martin Prince, Patty, Selma, Edna, Willie, Smithers, Hibbert are all great for City folk). For me, the DFB series was probably the most boring ever. Every figure except the manager almost identical with the same accessory and the body parts almost unusable for anything else but the German football team. The only good thing there was the selection of hairstyles.
  2. Diver for me. We have had so many modern divers in City, Atlantis, etc and getting a vintage one was great. Although I agree Maleficient is great for parts, and I quite like the new butterfly girl.
  3. From what I can tell (mainly standing in the school playground while dropping off / picking up kids) ninjago did well with younger kids at least (5-11 year olds, the age at my kids' school). But then, they have also chatted about Chima, and now chat about NK quite a lot too. And this is without the influence of the cartoon series. My eldest son (now 9) loved Chima more than ninjago and NK. Whether that translates into sales is of course another matter. Chima was available at a discount in the UK for a while, but then the same is true of ninjago and NK (and City and SW and LOTR ...).
  4. Does the floor have to be at floor level? One thing you can do is place some spacers at the base and lift the floor up slightly to help when it comes to tiling. Although as with all curved interiors, square edged tiles will not tile perfectly to the edges.
  5. A large single span gothic one would be nice too.
  6. So if that is going to happen for the last part of the poll, but not the first part, then can voters go back and change votes in previous rounds? If I had known that second place was going to get promoted as well, then I would have voted differently in some rounds. Instead of voting or the figure that eventually won by a long way, I would have voted for a third place figure that in some cases would have probably beaten the second place character but not the first place one. This is why it is important to have rules at the start and have them fixed, not to change them part way through a game.
  7. Runners-up would have a better chance of getting through the next rounds than first placed group winners though, as they would only be up against other "losers". So some runners-up would probably get further than the group winners that already beat them.
  8. OK, I see what you mean. Anyway, I'd still vote to keep it as it is for now, as I would have voted differently in some of the rounds. I'm also not sure it would be so fair either (even if done from the start), as if there was already a clear winner in a round, then someone voting later on might not vote for the winner if they have already won, but use their vote for the second place position. If second place was going to count, I think you'd need to either have two votes for everyone in each round or (a better solution) not announce the current result until everyone has voted / a fixed time is up.
  9. Or plastic sheathed wire.
  10. Elves has fairly heavily featured dragons this time around.
  11. OK, I thought they were delayed entry until about round 20 as none of them appeared in the early rounds.
  12. Kids still like it + parents remember it with nostalgia = money.
  13. The reason for this is simple. The list of figures is from the then current line of sets, so only included figures in the last four sets.
  14. Leave it as it is, as that was the rule that was in place at the start. Or start the whole thing again. It was already changed to allow S17 in. Don't make more changes through the game.
  15. Tough call between roman senator and the gargoyle. I've gone for the gargoyle, just cause I tend to use more of him (without legs) on buildings whereas the senator is a bit too unique for using multiples, even replacing the head and hair. If only he had been wearing a white toga ...
  16. I also like the Rivendell bit. Is the dome just placed gently on top of those levers? The flooring inside is also very nice too.
  17. Nice figs, and well done for not having any torsos with yellow skin on! I wish they made more that could be used for both yellow / fleshie minifigures.
  18. Much as I love the Homer figure, The Simpsons have no hope. DFB going too. For me, it's the graduate, but it's a tough round with some very nice prints / parts.
  19. Some very good advice there. To add to that, if you do get superglue absorbed on a cape, it will go stiff. Often you don't want that, although it can be used to an advantage if you want a posed cape. And your skin is likely to become part of the minifigure design! I've done that a few times, holding a couple of parts while they dry only to realise they have bonded to my fingers.
  20. I can imagine two reasons: 1) copyright if it is movie accurate and 2) lack of likely sales for them. I imagine (2) is a bigger problem than (1). Who is going to buy 100, 50 or even 10 of a Witch King helmet? Many people will want 1. Brickforge / brickwarriors don't make money by selling one of something, they make money shifting bulk items to army builders. Plus now it is probably too late to attract the masses. Sure, 1000 people might want to buy one helmet. But is that worth the design, mold manufacturing, fabrication, etc?
  21. The fact that Minifig cannot stand up straight just makes it realistic for some of us, especially if it is packed and you need to stand by the doors!
  22. I think they are (if you include the ones that are getting the lego bought for them). But that is not at the expense of older kids / adults. I think lego has realised they can also sell lots to (parents of) younger kids and have filled that gap, but without having an effect on the older end of the market.
  23. I'd be tempted to put a reddish brown 1x1 rount plate under the icecream parts to make them look a bit more like trees. Otherwise, very nice as the complex in the last pic.
  24. Have you had this on display? Some of your LBG bricks seem to vary hugely in colour. Or is it just the light it is photographed in.
  25. I have a few buy-now trigger points: 20% off if it is an exclusive (the 20% may be through promos, extra sets I can sell on rather than direct discount). 33% off to buy one or two for me, for regular retail sets. And 50% for buy multiples for me as parts packs, or for resale. Although even then it depends on what is in the set. I thought the movies were not badly received here. I think the major retailers here didn't have good sales for Hobbit wave 2 sets, so wave 3 sets went on almost instant discount as soon as they came out. The crazy thing was that some of them only lasted a few days, showing there was massive demand for them at 50% off - there would probably have been high (but not as high) demand at 20% off. The Lonely Mountain for £50 was a no-brainer - selling Smaug and the minifigs it was easy to recoup that (and more) plus keep all the parts for free.
