Very nice builds and story, Capt Wolf, and I agree with Ayrlego, Thaddeus Calvo is such a cool minifig (and character )! I think my favorite build might be the first as well, the vegetation is great - and the posing - and the tapering off towards the front just makes it so much cooler than just another rectangular base Clever whip-ride on the second one too, and the ruins - not to mention the golden soldiers (hmm - was Calvo able to take those with him? ) - are excellent too! Very nice entry overall!

The Kraaken spotted again!!! King's Port Advertiser, Special Add-on New Terra’s most reliable source for news, shipping and otherwise. May 617. VOL 2, Special Add-on What is this we hear? As we, the staff of the renowned KPA, settled into our new office on the Isla de la Many Names, we could faintly perceive in the distance the Eslandolans' puny settlement. Of course, that was hardly of interest, but what was greatly so were the highly wonderful screams and yells of terror emanating from it, and the figures in green as they fled, waving their limbs about in utter confusion! The sea itself has turned on the invader, and its monsters seem somewhat partial to the color green! Despite the recent loss in some battles against these pesky neighbors of ours, the Mardierians are beginning to pluck up courage on the island, and all may come out well even yet! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rumor has it, however, that the Eslandolans are not to be cowed even by such evident signs of their upcoming defeat. And, unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that the ancient kraaken is not exactly the best at detecting different colors, and a few Mardierian ships have gone missing without the slightest warning... Nevertheless, here at the KPA we are certain that this is a clear omen against all those who dare pit themselves against the might of Mardier! Category C results: Winning Side: 1st Place: Mardier 2nd Place: Eslandola Faction Winners: 1st Place: Oleon 2nd Place: Sea Rats 3rd Place: Corrington Individual Winners: 1st Place: Tie Kolonialbeamter & MKJoshA (MAR) - Prize (Learn ahead of time the location of the Kraken (either to chase it or to run away!) for the first two MRCAs, and possibly cooperate somewhat with the gamemasters as well) Highest scoring non-leadership member (MAR) - Franco Clarke - Prize, Cooperate with with the gamemasters in moving the Kraken in the upcoming quest! Runner-up: Kai NRG (ESL) - Prize, Learn ahead of time the location of the Kraken (either to chase it or to run away!) for the first two MRCAs - and, as highest scoring build in the category, 70623 Destiny's Shadow --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks once again to all of you who entered, and congrats to the winners! Anyone else looking forward to a kraaken quest?? ...I thought not... RUN AWAY!!!!! Another great showing, folks! Looking forward to being able to publish the last two category results and final scores!

Wow - hard to tell which build I like best, all three are really excellent! Great job on capturing the tavern feel in the first build, Mpyro, and that wheel on the wall is a very nice touch The vegetation, trees, and pyramid on the second are excellent as well, and the face on the front is very well executed - and somewhat funny, somehow Very nice fort in the last too, Phred - as Kai said, that's a very impressive collection of dark red masonry bricks, but the corner towers and courtyard inside - and gallows, though I hate to say it - are awesome! Very nice posing in all the shots as well! And on top of that, a neat story to cap it all off (even if those greencoats are totally not Eslandolan!)

[ESL CH5E] A Belated Party - Jan Zwartbaard Collab Part 2
Garmadon replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice story and great job with the overgrown and blackened ruins, Maxim, glad to hear the Eslandolans made it out on top in the end! The water really looks very good here as well, and those Tenotclaxcans do look great! Glad you managed to get this in! -
What a great pity Oh, wait, what? I'm talking about the Morning Fog, obviously... Great micro renditions of those very clearly recognizable ship shapes, and, as a matter of fact, I think I may just like the Jade Piranha better in blue At any rate, I'm glad Eslandola managed to send at least a couple of those rascally Sea Rat vessels to the bottom of the sea, yarrr! Oh, and my deepest condolences... ...

Wow - a couple of excellent and massive ships there, Bodi, and here I was surprised at the size of the first! Very nice color-schemes on both, and loving the stern of the SoTL! The white feathers do a great job of showing her nationality as well, and the decks are very nicely polished off too! Dare I say? - keep it up!

[COR - ChVE - Part 2 and 3] The Lost City of Gold
Garmadon replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A couple more very nice build, Ayrlego - fantastic jungle scene (though of course I'll maintain that the Mardierians probably just bought that Eslandolan armor and left it their as a fraud ), and very neat step-temple as well! The zig-zagging of the sides and the colors there are the things that stand out to me most, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the story and more of this civilization!- 15 replies

New Ship Classes - The Transition
Garmadon replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes, I get that (but thanks for the explanation anyways! ) - I was just saying that I couldn't find anything in the About Ships thread (or here, for that matter) specifying that the "base upkeep" is, in fact, equal to 25% of the ship's licencing cost, which ought to be stated there -
[SR - Ch5E] Tomb of the Killer Rabbit
Garmadon replied to MKJoshA's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That first part of the story in particular is quite funny, MKJ, great work with that, and neat job on the builds as well! While the first one doesn't have too much to it, the dapper looking chap () is great, and I really like that lamp for some reason - and excellent photography. The second may well be my favorite - great call including the underwater section - and the third definitely looks to host far more gold than one rowboat could carry! Just to make sure, though, I take it that this build is not in support of Mardier?- 16 replies

New Ship Classes - The Transition
Garmadon replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wait, what? I didn't say that! Or maybe I just misunderstood your question Good point that there seems to be missing something about what the base upkeep is in the About Ships thread where it should be... If I recall correctly, however, it is 25% of the licence cost (will make sure and see to it that it's added if it is not already there, hidden somewhere or other ). My ships: Licenced: Fog–Breaker - here (Currently licences as a 3F) - (Class 3, R3, M3, 1F, 1Cr, 3Ca, 4H) Shooting Shuriken - here (Currently licenced as a 2F, free licence) - (Class 2, 3R, 4M, 0F, 1Cr, 2Ca, 2H) Unlicenced: The Henri - here (Class 7, 6R, 5M, 1F, 2Cr, 8Ca, H5) Disembodied Licences: Floating Eyepatch (Class 1WR, now simply a Class 1) Plunging Dagger (Class 4A, now simply a Class 4) -
Eslandola Colonial Council, First Cycle, 617, VOTING
Garmadon replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
As previously - 1 Aye, 1 Nay, 1 Abstention for the ETWC proposal (on which, by the way, you seem to have missed this section - and I'd prefer keeping the full original wording, containing specifics, timeframe, etc.) "Until such time as the first Royal Eslandolan property may be licenced, or for the next two months (whichever ends sooner), I would propose that we put in place, A 20% tax on build submittal income, And a 10% tax on town banks, as per the good Governor's proposal. After said time expires, the treasury could be scrutinized, and any need for further taxation considered." And as for Part 1 - I don't see a need to vote on this, given that both proposals have already been retracted (that and the previous post)?- 25 replies

The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-up and Discussion
Garmadon replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas

Eslandola Colonial Council, First Cycle, 617, IN SESSION
Garmadon replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
And, as a matter of fact, Captain Whiffo did end up going and doing it himself! Just to celebrate the passing of Captain Whiffo's first proposal in the Colonial Council - may it be the first of many! (Well, it might be better if he's not too busy that way )- 76 replies

"...As for Royal Properties, I suggest that we send out a letter signed by the members of the Colonial Council to every settlement of Eslandola, asking for voluntary aid for the construction of three Royal Properties for the faction... and the third between the first of December and the last of February of the year 618..." History, my dear folks, is in the making! Just a small build to celebrate Captain Whiffo's first proposal in the Colonial Council - which passed, naturally, and with flying colours - especially as it had to do with minimizing taxes... The Chandelier: Among others who voted for the proposal (from left to right, below) we find here Mr. Jerome Monezterrell, Captain Whiffo (though, actually, he didn't vote himself...), Myles Bowditch, Mr. Aaron van der Meede, Captain Philip Janszen, General Samu, and Colonel Oystridge, some of the leading members of Eslandola, and all delegates in the Colonial Council. One more overview: And lastly, a shot of the delegates by themselves - I was quite happy that I was able to get at least one from each delegation which voted for the proposal in, even with so little room! A couple of other things... The windows are based on Elostirion's excellent design for the Parliamentary seat in Montario (Lion Hall) with only minor changes (which would also be where this build takes place), and the hat rack was ruthlessly stolen borrowed straight from Ayrlego's design in his latest build Thanks for viewing, all, C&C are welcome!

Breaking News from the Isla de la Many Names!!! ...May, 617... In an epic series of attacks and through the courage - or recklessness - of its soldiers and generals, the Eslandolans have taken down Mardier's Royal Fortress on the island, and now the green and gold fly triumphantly from its peak! No news has come in from the second fort, but it is certified that the third has as of yet repulsed the green onslaught, and the battle on the island is not over yet! Eslandola has suffered some severe losses in the assaults, many of the leading members of the house of Brickwall going down with as many heroic bangs. Is this the end for Mardier on the island? Or is it only a temporary setback from which they will soon recover? Will the quest for the fabled city of gold yet turn the tide for the nation of yellow? One thing is sure - the Eslandolans' morale is high! Category B results: Winning Side: 1st Place: Eslandola 2nd Place: Mardier Faction Winners: 1st Place: Oleon 2nd Place: Sea Rats 3rd Place: Corrington Individual Winners: 1st Place: Garmadon (ESL) - Prize, 31063 Beachside Vacation Highest scoring non-leadership member (ESL) - Faladrin - Prize, 500 PIPs and a free medium fort (activated by a micro-build) to be placed anywhere Runner-up: Kolonialbeamter (MAR) - Prize, 300 PIPs and a free small fortress (activated, likewise, by a micro-build) Highest scoring non-leadership member (MAR) - Ayrlego - Prize, 300 PIPs and a free small fort (activated by a micro-build) to be placed anywhere Congrats to the winners and thanks to all who entered! Category C results should be getting published soon, and let's have a good show out for Category E, folks! Keep it up!

Eslandola Colonial Council, First Cycle, 617, IN SESSION
Garmadon replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
"Excellent, excellent," remarked Captain Whiffo. Agent Guelds only folded his arms and looked smugly out the window. "In the absence of the Admius Legistrad at the moment, I'll go ahead and make sure it gets a-noted in law books. The tax part, of course, will come into play at the beginning of next month. Sec!" continued the former. The secretary of the Parliament quickly jotted the whole matter down. "Oh," the Captain resumed, just before sitting down again, "and if anyone here could engage to show the signing of this letter to the world as we send it out, that would be splendid. In fact, if no one else volunteers, I may just do so myself."- 76 replies

Scenes from the Eslandolean Parliament
Garmadon replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nicely done, Captain B - it's excellent to see such a reunion of great Eslandolan minds (referring to the last picture, of course! ) That pizza box sitting on Guy's desk is hilarious as well! -
Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List (Vol 2, issue 3) MAY 617
Garmadon replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great job, Bregir, and all the other contributors - this edition's simply getting better and better each time I go over it! Absolutely hilarious write-up here! All I have to say besides that, is that the ETWC is happy with its profits (245 more DBs in the bag - woohoo! ), and that Captain Whiffo is still shaking his head over the whole five fleet battle thing and reminding everyone that they had completely ignored his advice
