  1. Very cool! Looking forward to seeing what you do with that briefing room.
  2. LOL, yeah if you want to get real technical Luke shouldn't have a lightsaber. But I doubt TLG will ever put Luke in a set and not give him a saber. Yeah, she did yell to Luke and she was in the scene, but I can see why TLG omitted her.
  3. This looks like an awesome set and I can't wait to pick it up. I really like the use of the plates; they give a much more accurate representation of the SC angles. The mini figure complement is spot on, too. Sure we could have had a Beru but she wasn't up there buying droids with Luke and Owen. The price is steep, but it's a big set. I think it will look great on display in my collection. I just don't get the fuss about a UCS label. Why does that label really matter so many AFOLs? Is it a completist thing?
  4. Very cool! If fits perfectly in the hangar and looks great. I like how you even were able to get the interior details in there.
  5. I stand corrected, the Sandcrawler really us $300 US. Well, I'd better start saving now. This looks like a really awesome set and I am determined to get it for Star Wars day.
  6. Wow, that is funky looking. I've never seen a misprint like that.
  7. Hey Bob, great MOC! Love the color scheme, makes it look like a used tramp-freighter. Great lines, made the ship look both aerodynamic, but boxy at the same time. Soooo, I have to ask, are you going to build it?
  8. Where is everyone getting $300 from? The Sandcrawler certainly doesn't look like it will cost that much. EDIT: Kraby posted as I was typing this. The link may be valid but I think there will be a price adjustment. I doubt that set will sell for $300 in the U.S. I really like the new design, especially how the plates more accurately depict the angles and the weathering. I'm also excited to see the new Visual Dictionary.
  9. FInally!! We are getting Imperial Officer caps that are true to shape instead of those backwards-slanted US Civil War type caps we've been seeing. Overall, I'm pleased with the new OT sets. Of course we could have more detail in the ISD and AT-AT, and the Cantina could be bigger. But I think I'll be spending some money on SW LEGO this year. I'm really very happy with the new minifigures!
  10. This was bound to happen. Every second of timeline after ROTJ has been taken up by EU so it is logical to assume that new canon would have to be created and the old EU would go out the window. (unless the movies took place a couple of hundred years ABY) I have mixed feelings about the elminiation of all current EU. The Thrawn trilogy brought be back into the SW fold in the early 90s and I've been stuck ever since. There have been some really horrible story lines and authors over the years, but some pretty creative ideas have come out. Zahn's naming of the capital planet Coruscant is one of the rare examples of EU becoming movie canon. As fans we will can still enjoy the current EU. Just because someone tells us a story arc isn't canon doesn't mean we can't immerse ourselves in that story and enjoy it. I'm optimistic that Disney will do a good job with the new trilogy. They certainly have the talent in the company. I just hope they go for a good storyline, don't overuse CGI (handmade models would rock!), and don't focus-group the new movies to death to maximize profits. Oh, and I REALLY hope we don't get lense flare all over the place.
  11. WOW!!! Bob you built it! The ship looks awesome, way better than I imagined when you posted your LDD MOC. You also got all of the parts and constructed it a lot quicker than I thought you would. DIG! I love the smooth flowing forms, and the intricate details. And I see the shuttle docking port, very cool. Now, what are you building next?
  12. I like this MOC, especially the way you did the greebling on the city-scape. In my humble opinion the tail is a bit long and high. I agree with Bob, though, that the pic posted isn't the best reference. It distorts the tail section.
  13. Really cool MOC. I especially like the detail in the control room. I also really dig the hangar section with the X and Y-Wings, notably the ceiling and your use of upside-down plates.
  14. Another great MOC, Nom. I like how it combines the best parts of the AT-ST from 7657 and 8038. I like how the head section looks like more tight and finished than the one from 8038. Nice work.
  15. I like it. You did well designing the organic nature of the craft, making it look irregular and lumpy.
  16. Just curious, but shouldn't this discussion be taking place in the "Future Star Wars Sets" thread? It's a thraed talking about what sets members want to see. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=70171
  17. Nice buy. I really love that set.
  18. nice work! I like the y-wing the best; excellent use of parts to make the details.
  19. Nice looking ISD. I actually like how the dark grey plates break up the monotony of the hull.
  20. I was in my 20s when TLG came out with their first SW sets and I was really excited. I grew up with SW had been MOCing SW ships and bases since I was a little kid. If they stopped making SW I would be disappointed, but I've amassed a nice collection that I am satisfied with what I have. Since coming out of my dark ages I see each new year's line-up and I say, "I'm only getting a couple of sets," only to buy most everything that isn't TCW. I guess you can say I'm hooked! I'm glad to see a new episode coming out and more sets. I just wish we had a decent Hoth Base. As for the over-merchandising of SW, in general, that's nothing new. SW was the first movie to be uber-merchanised. I remember when I was a kid my parents gave me the first box set of figures for Christmas, but it was just a card redeemable for them because Kenner couldn't produce enough for the holiday. SW was on everything, even C3POs cereal. Lucas made a great business decision to merchandise the heck out of SW; doing so made him a fortune. Even Mel Brooks poked fun at it in Spaceballs.... Spaceballs the flamethrower! (the kids love this one). I have no problem with SW on everything, I just pick and choose what I want to collect.
  21. To echo what Brickdoctor said, I also really like the big engines on the slim airframe. It looks like they could power that fighter to high speeds and it looks manueverable as well. Even with those big engines the ship looks nimble. Great job on the color scheme, too. And I like the use of angled slopes on the nose.
  22. I'll use 1-stud wide and your general dimensions. I'll play around with LDD and see what I can think of. I must admit my MOC skills are in their infancy but this sounds like a good challenge.
  23. Unbelievable! Fox Hound, that is one amazing LDD MOC. Like others have said, the detail is fantastic. I love the city-scape on the top, and how you painstakingly recreated it from the movie models. Really nice work! Now, don't throw anything at me, but I'm curious as to your choice of design of the bridge tower. I know it would be tough to get the right angles with the current scale, but did you try other bricks besides a couple of inverted slopes? I'm just curious.
  24. That makes sense, that model is probably from ESB. The other thing I remember reading from my ISD research is that the Destroyers from ANH were almost bone-white and the ones in subsequent films were grey, just like the model in your link.
  25. Nice review, you echo my own thoughts about the set. This was my first LEGO SW set back in 1999, and it makes me feel nostalgic seeing the ships. They aren't as refined and accurate as the more recent designs, but they are still fun to build and swoosh around.
