  1. Hello everyone, been busy with school but have still built many MOCs, some taken apart so fast after completion I never even took pictures but I have taken pictures/video of some, I'll start with this crawler I built recently. An xl motor on each axle geared down 1:3, Rok Lox 1.9 tires, 4 link suspension with LOTS of flex, low center of gravity, lightweight and long wheelbase all add up to an amazing machine  its so lightweight it cant get enough grip to climb steep angles, unless its a surface like fabric, hence the crawling capabilities shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOLJ_dENt8c&feature=youtu.be there is another video on my channel of the 'prototype' before my changes/improvements. Pics: Only half of the flex^ it can easily be 90 degrees Servo steering^ Took some links off for a new dragster idea with pneumatic suspension. Enjoy!
  2. Wow. Just wow. I've just made a xl motor per axle crawler that gets over just about anything, and a very small car with two buggy motors...will post when i get a new laptop... is that the new tan 4l axle from the 9398 in your portal axle? I've been using that technique to hold the 8t gear in place for a few weeks now...
  3. Really nice!! Too bad you need so many pieces for a really large track ;)
  4. Finally! New 8t gears! I'm tired of them breaking/bending on my crawlers. Pull back looks nice. Might just get this set :)
  5. agreed, there's something called constructive criticism and theres another thing called insulting. calling someone a noob or with no knowledge doesn't help them become better...I think it's small mistake on a very good car
  6. mine arrived yesterday, and i'll say, this is really great!! Thank you, because I finally understand complex transmissions and will build one in a model possibly...Interesting fact how red parts are slightly weaker...
  7. very good, I really like the back for some reason voted!
  8. congratulations! hope you get to(or already have ) build some great TLG models!
  9. UPDATE: buggy motors...didnt work out. They ground my 8t gears to a pulp, so I switched them out with 12/20, but then it didnt have enough low speed torque to climb steep angles, so I switched with two XL's, and they ground a 16t gear that had no room to slip..but it made it up a very steep incline, so I'm now almost done with completely new chassis-smaller wheelbase, but definitely a lot less weight. shock mounts figured out, new type of suspension...if it works out this will be my best truck yet wish me luck and pictures soon...
  10. Drawers really help if you dont want those many little containers standing out, and a big desk is great! Like mine:
  11. well it doesnt do that with just one motor, but i'm sure it will with 2, will try something like that! thanks for the tip!
  12. instead of 4-link? no way this is way more realistic and no negative caster, we'll see how strong it is...
  13. thats how I feel right now, when I realized a big but simple mistake... lately was noticing the driveshaft going into the rear axle was a bit wiggly, so today I took a closer look, and was shocked with what I saw and the smell of burnt plastic-heres what it looked like: ^friction completely melted this side of the hole ^Other side is fine ^Plastic melted and wove around the axle ^with some tugging with clamps I pulled it out of the u-joint... ^what it looks like - apparently something was pushing the driveshaft into the hole, causing large amounts of friction... ^but the front axle was fine except for a little dust... THE PROBLEM: one top link was a stud off, causing inequalities in the geometry, most likely causing the driveshaft to be pushed into the rear axle, and it was like this for a day or two...ruined part because of a simple mistake but I replaced the 5x7 frame and moved the link and there seems to be no more friction problems motor hopefully arrives tomorrow
  14. interesting- I think 2013's pretty cool, and the f1 b model reminds me of the silver champion b-model, another race truck with independent suspension I like the new hubs because they can be used with liftarms instead of wishbones(you can see them in the truck)
  15. I think it looks good and im trying to save weight, and any reason for double posts?
  16. Another update: no motor yet but tires arrived yesterday and today made some nice bodywork heres pics: ^shock braces to keep them from popping out ^on front axle ^liftarm above top links in chassis so they dont pop out easily ^hopefully will be able to climb this (60-65 degree) And now for bodywork! ^Looks awesome, doesn't it? ^looks pretty scale with these tires ^little bars/lights for detail ^doesn't look like a lot of ground clearance because of sheer size of crawler , but it's actually pretty decent! ^nice articulation ^ weight with everything and two batteries (only one motor) is 1,378 grams now just wait for motor to come...
  17. once my custom battery's open contacts pinched metal from a shock absorber in my drawer, and melted the shock absorber's plastic completely, good thing I noticed the smell before there was any more damage or fire but now we charge it through a plug and contacts are covered
  18. wow love how all sets look very thought-out and well-done. May buy multiple sets this time, f1 and motocross bike being top of the list, and maybe some of the small sets for the interesting panels and nice looks EDIT: is that a new blue tiny panel I see on the front of the pullback buggy? if so, im really loving the variety of panels and colors!
  19. thank you! well I hope i'll need less gearing, so it will be crazy fast! and heres an update for you, fixing some problems you mentioned ^battery cage and one motor i already have(guy with overpriced motor was slow with my order so might come Monday ) ^You mentioned weakness of steering? well this pretty much fixes that, replacing weak link with rack/pinion  ^bottom view(gears never slip in steering ) ^You mentioned possible separation of bottom link mount? Well, not anymore ^rear axle ^bottom view(missing link mount reinforcements because I thought of it between pictures ) good so far!
  20. thanks! yes, I realize the issue of the lower link mounts-its happened before so I will try to do something about it, caster angle-most likely will not implement it, servo is quite strong but you cant steer against an obstacle while moving-but you wouldnt want to do that anyway, and about ratio, are you implying gearing it down more? if so I might possibly do this but it would increase weight/complexity and I'm hoping its enough power using two motors. And you are right! it is fun, as I tested it (built the rear axle connections and hooked everything up) with one motor I have and it was decent but of course stalls easy with large size. I am thinking that with the doubled power without doubled weight will be sufficient power my goal is for the front axle to be able to lift itself up the wall without stalling. Was your crawler with 2 buggy motors able to do this?
  21. WIP pics from couple days ago, now theres more but dont feel like uploading btw have bought motor, wire, and tires, hopefully everything comes by Friday, so I can build and finish on weekend heres pics: ^long wheelbase as i said, and got nice leather/rubber type mat to put on table, great for building/pics  ^closeup-sorry for fuzziness, took them fast ^front axle, strong with offset servo for easy placement, and I have lengthened the axle 2 studs since this picture to give bit more room for those giant Rok Lox tires ^closeup of suspension-everything triangulated and thought out, so U-Joints never pop out looks realistic, huh? ^definitely room for big tires, although may rub a bit when suspension compressed to one side while turning... ^simple two level chassis(now three level with battery cage) ^from the top ^showing all linkages, and i've measured that with Rok Lox, it will have about 8 centimeters(little over 3 inches) of ground clearance in the middle of the chassis and 2 inches(5 cm) under the axles wish me luck!
  22. you forgot zblj? or excluded because of tracks?
  23. just a little sketch(i've done better )
  24. awesome hummer, im not sure model team style body is very robust though, is it?
