I'm about a million miles (not literally) from an official Lego store, it takes an hour to get to the nearest Toys'R'us, and any place that sells Lego usually has a £5-£10 mark up (Entertainer and WHS), with the exception of Argos (who are always out of stock) and any Supermarkets. The nearest Tesco and Sainsbury's usually have a terrible selection (A couple of sets at full price, mostly stuff I've got or I've got no interest in). However, there is a few redeeming factors in all this. My local area (5-10 miles ish) has about 40 Charity Shops, my local Comic book store carries a full selection of Licenced sets (Superheroes, Minecraft, TMNT, Star Wars, LOTR, Hobbit), Smyths opened a Mega store about 3 miles away a few years ago, Tesco did a similar thing with a Mega store a few miles away, and I'm about 5 miles away from a huge Asda super store. Most places stock CMF's, so I guess that's a plus. When I go on holiday however, there's a fantastic Lego outlet, officially licenced etc. I think there called "Bricks And Mortar" shops. That's where I get my parts, baseplates, and Minifigures from, at a good price as well.

Hi - New to the forum and a story with a somewhat sad ending.
Dr Leg O Brick replied to JP911's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Greetings! I don't collect trains, nor do I know much about them, however, I can tell you a few things. Firstly, to answer your question about colour, Lego changed the colours of grey and brown in 2004, I think. At the time, it was met with extreme hostility, and the colours are widely known as bley or rown. Nowadays, people are fine, more or less, with the colour change. What it sounds like, not to get your hopes up, is that you've got a gold mine, particularly the Santa fe. 9V is held in high regard among AFOLS (Adult Fans Of Lego), the new Power Functions is good, but a lot of people love 9V and, if I remember correctly, anything that has "9V" in the title adds a lot, and I mean a lot, of money to the original set. Here's Bricklink's price guide for the straight track, ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=2865&colorID=10), and the curved track, (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=2867&colorID=10). In addition, just the windows on the Santa Fe cost between $15 to $33, each, for the whole train, if its the limited edition, between $215+ according to bricklink. As for your sets, here's a link to all 9V sets on Brickset. (http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Trains&subtheme=9%20V), from there you can figure out what they're worth, they have loads of features to show what the going price is, instructions, lots for sale on eBay etc. Other than that, I'll leave it to the professionals, they know a lot more than I, I'm sure somebody I'll post some better info, however, I hope that helped. -

Maybe it has something to do with the "every think is awesome" song? Presidents Business and one of his robot henchmen profiles talk of using music as a weapon or something like that.- 2,626 replies

I've seen him cry a few times, and when She-Hulk ripped him to bits in the comics it looked, different. In Avengers 57 he's described as "...every inch a human being-except that all of his bodily organs are constructed of synthetic materials." He's frequently referred to as a synthezoid, a type of android. So Luna Lovegood is right. Hope that helps.

Great deal Hobbythom ! The price for the Schooner and BSB is ridiculous nowadays, particularly on eBay. They usually go for £200, each. A few hauls since 2008, some quite recent: 8420 Street Bike, Technic. £2 from a Charity Shop. 100% complete, box, instructions, spare parts, even the original bags. 4644 City Marina, on clearance in Asda a few years ago, sealed. £8 7900 Heavy Loader, opened, with box, spares, instructions, 100% complete. £1.50 5974 Galactic Enforcer, Space. I'd say 95% ish complete, Original Manuals etc. £22 7065 Alien Mothership, Space. On clearance at Asda, the box was absolutely smashed, but I took a risk, in the end it was complete. £15 6975 Alien Avenger, Space. £8, missing a couple of plates and a minifigure. 7948 Outpost attack and 7946 King's Castle. 100% Boxes, instructions etc. £45 7952 Kingdoms Advent calendar, sealed. £12 A vintage Quality Streets tin, full of parts and minifigs from Town, Space, Pirates and castle from the 80's/90's, including most of set 6396 International Jetport. £7 7171 Mos Espa Podrace, Star Wars, 99% complete with original box, most of the first wave Bionicle's, some Drome Racers, Lego Island for PC and some Space Police 1, M-Tron, Blacktron, and Futuron guys. £15 6597 Century Skyway, 4766 Graveyard Duel, 4768 The Durmstrang ship and some Town Jr and Jake Stone stuff. 99%-100% complete. £21

Looks like the back of Bart's legs are printed! At 2.36. I'm pretty sure that's a first. For some reason, it look's smaller. Nether the less, a good set.

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion

Agreed, much rather get 3 Benny's 919's than the Steampunk ship. I'm not a fan of Steampunk, but I was considering buying it. For £300? Forget about it. I can live with the Imperial Flagship.- 2,626 replies

80s-something Space Guy poster with Space Ship
Dr Leg O Brick replied to danth's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Good point, however the 928 came out in 1979, and the PR is a Modular. Lego tend to go the extra mile when you exceed £150 ish. As you say as long as the textured slopes are printed, I'm fine. I've got loads of sets that have the same sort of textured slope and the stickers practically slide of them. On a side note, how many people do you think you could cram into the cockpit? I haven't got that specific design, though I'm guessing if they squeeze up three, it all depends on if there's an interior. -
Have you ever completely dismissed a theme, thought it absolutely pointless and have no interest, even as a parts pack, and then suddenly realise that after all it wasn't so bad, and end up buying multiple sets from said theme? I thought Fabuland with knives, guns, and drugs, aka Chima, was something that was, no offence, more for kids and completely uninteresting to me, until I got Razar for free. It suddenly occurred that these talking Lions would kind of fit into what I'm buying. It's not so far fetched, talking animals, bipedal species, evolving on a planet and eventually fighting each other with organic tech for the planets natural resources. So, my question, anybody else find themselves in the same position, having a sudden interest in a theme that they didn't like before hand?

Slightly off topic, but I had something to add to Clone O'Patra's previous point, about it being sold in specialist shops such as DVD and Music vendors. I went down to my comic store in 2008, found a Indiana Jones set, bought it, and I've been a AFOL since, more or less. Same too, kind of, goes for all my Friends, so I can see it very much selling well, and getting new AFOL's into the hobby. I'm a casual watcher of Simpsons, I've got a few of the earlier seasons and a couple of the specials on Video, and I've got to say, it's rather impressive this house. Sure, it's not 100% accurate, a couple of the minifigures look high, but what the hell, Lego are trying to make money. You buy the house, then you notice the CMF's, buy a few of those, then you notice the Lego Movie CMF's, and buy a few of those. Then you see the Lego movie sets, and buy say the cheapest. And then the cycle starts. I can't afford it most likely, between City/Space/Agents/Marvel/Lego Movie etc, but it still looks fantastic. P.S A belated well done, just2good, for becoming famous! You'll never live this down.

80s-something Space Guy poster with Space Ship
Dr Leg O Brick replied to danth's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Makes sense about the registration number being stickered. The LL919 plate would only be able to be used in this set, it's too restricted to its use unlike the classic space slopes. Hence, it's cost ineffective too print a part that has no use outside of the desired set. I've got to say, I've never been so excited over a set, ever. -
That would be great, quite fitting to have one or more of them tinny robots from the classic sets in the back.

I was thinking about how that "80% of the film is animated", do you think that it'll have a similar ending to the opening of Toy Story 3? Where this multi-million brick sized world is just a few sets scattered over a kids bedroom floor, and it's all a kids imagination? I don't particularly want it to be, but it was just a thought.

Off topic, I know, but I 100% agree with you Moon_Knight, nothing beats Claremont, although I think Grant Morrison and Marc Silvestri did a pretty good run in the early 2000's. If you, Numbuh1Nerd, are having trouble with the prices with the graphic novels, or are unsure you want to invest a lot of money into a collection of comics you've never read, then I'd highly recommend buying (If they are available in your country) the Marvel Pocket Book series. Some of the best comics that have ever been published, they retail for between £4-£5, full colour, and although it varies, there are usually between 150-200+ pages. I've found loads at discount as well, so sometimes they can be cheaper. Back on topic, I'm pretty annoyed that we'll only get one X-Men set, that's pretty ridiculous. And the Blackbird better be as big as or bigger than the Quinjet. I'm thinking, based on what's popular X-Men wise and most known, I'm thinking they'll go with, in addition to Magneto and Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops, Professor X and Mystique due to there parts in the latest X-Men film. They're unlikely to do Rogue, as I'm pretty sure her part in DOFP has been cut, I don't think Colossus is too well known with such small parts in almost all X-Men media (90 Animated, Wolverine and the X-Men, X-Men 3 etc), however, they still made Deadpool... That leaves, in my mind, a few remaining contenders. Jean Grey, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Gambit, Angel, Bishop, and Beast. I'm also thinking, that there must be a limit at how many Minifigs can be included. The Quinjet had 5, Daily Bugle had 5, Malibu Mansion had 5, Batcave had 5, Two Face chase had 5, Battle for Smallville had 5, Joker's Steamroller has 5. You see the pattern. The only exception is Arkham, which was a D2C and has 8. So, in conclusion, if it's a regular set, I think It'll have 5. If it's a D2C, then It'll have 8.

That's fine, I just thought with you mentioning 2014 Space stuff, I'd put down the mech. Apparently, if I remember correctly from a post in The Lego Movie Topic, 919's nose cone detaches, the back acts as a sort of escape pod (I'll use it as a lab), and as you say Bob De Quatre, the far end wings look like they can detach, particularly if you look at the first pick, it looks like these small shuttles have foldable wings. With all this hype, and (Spoilers from the Lego Movie) the appearance of more Classic Space in the film (somehow), I'm hoping that we'll get a full blown come-back. Hopeless, I know, but I can still dream.

Don't forget about that Cuusoo Mech, Sci Fi based. I remember that it was passed to be made. Is Galaxy Squad going to continue? I was under the impression that it was canned, as no other info has surfaced about new set/s. As for the 919, Benny's Space ship, word's can not encapsulate how entirely spectacular it is. A day one purchase, I believe.

Yes, one of the factors was indeed price. Flight prices, ferry prices, its seems its cheaper to go home via cardboard box nowadays, although it has got slightly cheaper recently according to Google, it's just finding the time. I didn't realise there was a LUG, where I live in England Is pretty desolate, I didn't even know what a LUG was till I bought one of the many great fan books via Amazon (Brickaddiction). Anybody looking to film a post nuclear fallout film would be quite happy with the surroundings near my house. As you say, there are at least a few of us, and it seems we've all emigrated to England. I'll take a look at that LUG, sounds interesting...

I'd got some daft advert about Geek dating with a rather inappropriate picture, and something about getting life insurance, because you never no when you might die. Cheery stuff...

LEGO Ultra Agents 2014
Dr Leg O Brick replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
They bought back Johnny Thunder, twice, as mentioned and Lego included Brains from Power Miners in an Atlantis set. And Benny, I guess, could count from the latest Lego movie.
