Star Trek The Next Generation customs
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Dr Leg O Brick's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thank you! I am indeed working on a bridge, modelled after the Playmates playset, I have most of the parts, but at the moment it looks like it'll be the end of this month before I get started. After running a few "tests", and figuring the size I want it, It'll end up with one side exposed, while the other side will be fully enclosed. I'm thinking about adding a micro scale ship in the view screen (Romulan Warbird or Borg Cube at the moment) as well. I'll hopefully be adding my Marvel customs over this weekend as well as I know your a Marvel fan, I've got a huge back catalogue of stuff to post. -
But that doesn't stop us, or directors, adding sounds, as swooshing sounds much better than {silent space swooshing} . Zooming, splooshing, cling clanging, swooshing, and choo chooing, we'll be able to start a dictionary soon.

I started of as non-purist, but as my collection, and knowledge, has grown I've become more purist. I get my parts in two major ways: Charity shop castaways, sometimes you get nine figures, sometimes twenty nine, but in all cases you never know what you might get. I've found sometimes that can open my mind as well, a theme I might have just said "Meh, nothing useful" actually might have the very hair piece I might need. However, most of my spares are made out of CMFs. I don't particularly care that the figs come from China, as long as they can stand the test of being used and I don't glow in the dark after using, I'm fine mixing them. Some of the heads may look the same, but you never truly know weather that similar head may be exactly what your looking for. I don't tend to use Bricklink, and eBay can be a bit hit and miss. However, one amazing tip I can give you that I discovered with my Marvel customs is that nail clippers are great for snipping small parts if need be. Hand cuffs, staffs, I've found that they can take quite a beating and you get a fine result.

Hello again, and before I start, I'll add a few disclaimers. First of all, the torso stickers where not designed by me, I bought these of the internet premade, I have since changed most of the heads and hair styles, so credit goes to whoever made these stickers, if anyone has any info regarding that I would be most thankful. And again, when I try to upload photos on to EB it stops everything and you have to refresh the page to even move the mouse, so again, links, if somebody could give me help with that I would be most grateful. And finally, I bought the Bat'leth of eBay, not 100% sure again where they come from, so credit again goes to however made it. With that over, my TNG customs Captain Picard Commander Riker Counsellor Troi Lt Commander Data Lt Commander La Forge Lt Worf Chief Medical Officer Dr Crusher Ensign Crusher (Nooooo!! to quote Picard from Night Terrors. Well, as I'm on a roll, I thought I'd share pictures of my "Life On Mars" figures. For those who don't know, Life On Mars revolves around a man called Sam Tyler, who's hit by a car in 2006 and wakes up in 1973. Is he mad? Is he in a coma? Or has he really time travelled? I got my first Lego Movie set: 70801 Melting Room. I love it, and I'll be getting some of the others sets, after Bennies Spaceship's released.

Although I've read every image resizing topic I could find, I have absolutely no idea if this will work, it's kind of a test as I've got a lot of other customs to add to EB. Also the photos are a bit dodgy, I'm used to taking photos of 4.5 inch or 7 inch figures. With the disclaimer over, as you might know I'm a fan of Gerry Anderson's work. These are far from perfect, most will be decaled/painted at a later date. First, Spectrum agents, more to follow: <a href="http://www.flickr.co...03/12929284414/" title="1 by drlegobrick, on Flickr"><img src="https://c2.staticfli..._043e13cf39.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="1"></a> Captain Scarlet If those above don't work, go to my Flickr page, I've posted a few others there as well: http://www.flickr.co...th/12929009563/ EDIT: Pictures aren't working, so I'll add links: Captain Scarlet http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Captain Blue http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Captain Ochre http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Captain Magenta http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Captain Grey http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Captain Brown http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Lt Green http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Colonel White http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Dr Fawn http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Suggestions? Any Gerry Anderson fans here?
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Dr Leg O Brick's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I thought they where impressive too, stunning how big that TB3 is! As I have more time, I'll go into more detail about the books. To start, CF WeaZZel, they don't have schematics as such, but they do go into detail about each of the Thunderbird craft, between two to three paragraphs each on one page with colour photos (i.e. for TB2 it talks about the lift off, how it's concealed etc, and then it's reactor, speed, location of engines, how it lowers a pod, and the various rooms inside TB2 (living quarters and armaments) ). Both books follow a similar layout, both printed in 2001, written by Chris Bentley, 126 ish pages, and published by Carlton Books (I have no idea how available these books are nowadays), during that huge Captain Scarlet/Thunderbirds merchandise push. The Thunderbirds book, going from the contents, has a forward by Gerry Anderson, and an Introduction. The first chapter consists of the making of Thunderbirds, what came before, pre production, the voice artists (with some great stories from various interviews over the years, and info about the what other programs they've been in.), and production info on Series 1, 2, the first film, the second film. Chapter 2 then continues with the world of Thunderbirds, information about 2065, International Rescue, the vehicles, the characters (the Tracy Family, Lady Penelope, Parker, Brains, Kyrano, Tin-Tin, and the Hood), and all full of various pictures and information on them. Interesting that Parker was born on the 30th May, 2013, and Jeff was born on the 2nd January, 2009. Anyway, moving on, the next chapter has a page devoted to each episode of Thunderbirds, with plot info, various bits of info on production, original UK broadcast dates, episode number, regular cast list, guest cast list, major equipment and photos from that episode, and a quote (“There's more to come. I've got a case of nutomic charges on board “ for example) for all 32 episodes. Then a similar arrangement for the two films. Chapter 4 has information on the spin of adventures, the mini albums, the comics, and the novels, TV21 for example. The last chapter talks about it's legacy in some ways, about parodies or continuations (Thunderbirds 2086 and Thunderbirds FAB The Next Generation stage show for example) and the merciless recuts such as Turbo Charged Thunderbirds. And then ends on it's legacy, and about the 1992 toys for example. Obviously, I won't go into as much detail about the Captain Scarlet book, as it has an almost identical layout, same sort of chapter arrangement for example with obvious differences. There's more info on the toys in the Captain Scarlet book for example, and again, some fantastic stories from the voice actors. Both are great books, if there's any questions you'd like me to answer I'm happy to do so. Also, although I can't promise anything, I've made some custom figures and a MOD to an existing set based upon Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, and Space 1999, so look out for those soon, I hope. EDIT: Here is a link to my current customs, I should be adding more soon: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=93092 All are links to my Flickr page, as I'm not 100% sure why the pictures aren't loading. -
Any Gerry Anderson fans here?
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Dr Leg O Brick's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Sorry to bump the topic, but for those who haven't seen these I thought I'd post the link to drdavewatford's blog, about half way down are pictures from the 2012 Great Western Lego Show, as well as kaitain's Marineville, there are pictures of TB3, TB2, FAB1, an Angel Interceptor, UFO control room and the Elevator Cars. http://gimmelego.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/blown-away.html I finally bought Captain Scarlet on DVD, I had honestly forgot how enjoyable it is. I've found most commentary on TV episodes can be tiresome and perhaps boring, however, Gerry Anderson's commentary on "The Mysterons" was fantastic, truly stunning and creative how they got past some of the problems and limitations during filming (i.e. filming the Spectrum Helicopter scenes in the pilot upside down and then flipping them, as the blades would damage the wires I believe.). I'd highly recommend two books I've had for some years, the complete book of Thunderbirds and the complete of Captain Scarlet. I won't go into detail now, however, both provide complete guides to all episodes, pages on all types of merchandise, character info, and various bits of info and extracts of interviews from the voice actors. Although it's "Expanded Universe" stuff, some connections in the character bios are interesting, Lt Green and Gordon Tracey both attended WASP, Captain Black was in the WSP, World Space Patrol, etc, some interesting information. -
"You can't ask a question like that in here, you'll start a rumble!" I hadn't thought to look this topic up, I even thought of starting one myself, nice to see it's been "bumped". Anyway, my favourite set. It's a hard one, particularly when you collect anything and everything, however, I've answered elsewhere on other forums, so I'll add it here. After much deliberation, my favourite set has to be 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle, followed by 10210 Imperial Flagship, then 7946 King's Castle, and finally 6456 Mission Control. "Honourable mentions", the runners up, in no particular order, include 6285 Black Seas Barracuda, 5974 Galactic Enforcer, 6398 Central Precinct HQ, 7900 Heavy Loader, 6075 Wolfpack Tower and 6597 Century Skyway.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Futureâ„¢ Time Machine
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I wasn't sure where to put this, but I was thinking, the new Doc Ock head from the Marvel sets would be great, apart from the brown eyebrows, for a BTTF 2 Doc. And, excuse my ignorance, but when will the set be retired? I'm thinking on getting it, it's just that with so much out already, I'm not sure when to get it. Knowing when it retires would help a great deal. -
God I feel old listening to them theme tunes. "Captain America throws his mighty shield" and "Fantastic Four" ones in particular stick in my mind after all these years. If I'm not mistaken, your missing the X-Men and Spider-Man ones from the group. In a vain effort to stay on topic, Rocket sounds better than I imagined.

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Licensed
I know I've posted here before, but I just wanted to say a big thank you to WetWired and Cuusso for making this possible. One of my fondest memories from my childhood was dressing up as a Ghostbuster, my school doing one of them "dress up as your favourite person" kind of days. I went in a tan tracksuit with a huge belt, and a beer crate strapped to my back, covered in back paper with a garden hose hanging out the side for my power pack. I'm still in shock that were getting this at all, let alone so quick. And all printed pieces? Stand? Spot on mini figs? 6 wide? 100 per cent accurate to the film? Interior? For all its problems, I love Cuusso for letting me have the opportunity to own a Delorean and now Ecto 1. I eagerly await a review in June. -
Great pics! Again, first day buy. I liked it before. Now? I love it! Blackbird certainly has captured the essence of the 90s animated one. And I'm extremely impressed with the all the minifigures, particularly Storm, I'm glad they didn't chicken out over the cape. I sense a single pane funny coming on with that alternative Wolverine head...

I just had a reread of the Inferno one, really enjoyed it. A bit drastic in the end, but still fantastic. I'd never read House Of M till a few days ago, I wound up with the first few issues and after reading them I'm after the graphic novel. Surprising that I've never read it before as I really enjoyed Avengers: Disassembled and it ends up being pivotal in another favourite of mine, Exiles. Once finished, I'll have to look up the "What If?".

What Lego-related thing did you do today?
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Savage Oppress's topic in Community
Planning to re arrange the dinning room Lego Room. A 5 ft long city, Avengers base, 6 Castles, 4 Space Ships, couple of thousand mini figs, a Space bar, 4 sailing ships, Dr Doom's lair and my classic Space station "Moon Base Alpha" to move, plus 50,000 pieces, a couple of chairs, a big piece of plywood and a Video collection in the way. Tomorrow's going to be a long day... -
Classic Cyclops! Classic Storm! Brown costume Wolverine! Brilliant Blackbird! Sentinel! And Magneto. All in one set! Never would I have believed we would get a more or less Chris Claremont inspired set. And you can just about make out Rocket Racoon and Nebula in the Larva set in the background of one of the pics. Just make the rest of the second genesis X-Men team, the FF, Thanos and some classic Avengers and I'll die happy.

Oh, I'm not expert, so I can't say a thing on Wolverine. I loved Millar's work on the Ultimates and Ultimate X-Men, really refreshing and different though. What's been your favourite What If's? if you don't mind me asking? I'm still working my way through, but if I had to choose I've really enjoyed so far What If Phoenix had no died?, What if Cable had destroyed the X-Men?/What If Magneto took over the USA? two part, What if Iron Man had been trapped in the time of King Arthur?, and What if the Avengers Lost Operation: Galactic Storm two part? I've been flicking backwards and forwards through them, hence the jumbled order.

I'm currently making my way through Chris Claremont's run available through the Marvel pocketbook series, some What If's? and a couple of 2000AD series. Really loving Claremont's work, I forgot how enjoyable his run was. Thanks about Infinity, I normally steer clear of these huge multi parters, but from the sound of it I'll make an exception. I thought I was the only one who read while ill, I got through about 25 graphic novels when I was in hospital, and about a dozen more when at home afterward. I'm also looking into old man Logan, I love alternative reality stories, and it sounds interesting.

I'd forgot how good them comics are. Issue four's always been my favourite, the battle is possibly my favourite comic battle, ever. Extremely entertaining to see how he takes out each and ever one of the remaining heroes, and just when you think Thanos is finished, when the Surfer swoops in, he misses. Great, legendary, comic series. The Thanos quest before TIG is IMHO on par with the Gauntlet, Schemes And Dreams and Games And Prizes, the art, writing, and inking is fantastic, though it seems the price for them has gone through the roof. I found The Infinity War and Crusade good, but never as good as the originals. To stay on topic, is the latest series "Infinity" any good?
-
I had a read of A v X. I'll leave it brief, I found it very good but, I felt they dragged it out too much. I felt AoU suffered from lack of expansion, it seems Marvel messed that up, IMHO it should've been the other way round. On other news, off topic, while rereading The Thanos Quest and The Infinity Gauntlet, I happened upon something stunning in issue 4 of TIG, AKA Thanos v everybody and Thanos wins. When he disposes of Nova, he turns him into "Children's Toy blocks", something similar to Lego. He then stamps on them blocks, without screaming. So folks, you too can be cured of "Lego foot", you just need a golden size 18 boot and an Infinity Gauntlet....

How do you store your instructions?
Dr Leg O Brick replied to ResIpsaLoquitur's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I keep them in plastic wallets inside a regular folder. They keep them in OK condition, as long as they're stored flat. -
Single Pane LEGO Licensed Theme Funnies
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Gregorovich's topic in LEGO Licensed
Robin the boy hostage bites the dust in style. Very, very funny, it's just the look on his face as he gets crushed, just hilarious. I've been following this thread since day one, it's always a good laugh when you read a page here. I might even contribute, I have a few ideas... Very good batch, Oky, particularly the last one, Lois seems particularly evil in a strange way, that blank, passive grin gets creepy after awhile in that context. Keep them coming!
