Yes, but still I thought that if I excluded them (the union guys), some people might complain as they are after all in the banner for the Historical forum. As for mine, its really tough to choose between them, for me it'd be between the cowboys (you've got to love those broken teeth and huge moustaches) , the Black Falcons, the original Lion knights, and the Black Knights. After much deliberation, IMHO, the Black Falcons. They are the most distinctive, most unique faction out of Castle. You can immediately tell its a Black Falcon when you see either the minifigures or the crest. Unlike the Lion knights and particularly the Black knights, they have never lost their identity, never had the shield reused on another Castle faction or their colors, so they really stand out among the crowd so to speak.

Hello, I was shocked to see that, after a search of the Historic forums, that nothing like this existed. If I have missed the topic, could a MOD please merge/delete this existing one. Right, this is going to be a long list, any explanations as to why I've done what I've done will be under the factions name if needed, and I will post my opinions later on. Here are the options, with a link to respective Brickset pages, I've only listed Castle stuff, but for the sake of this being a Historic Forum I'll add the Ninjas, Wild West and Vikings groups at the end to please every one. I've missed LOTR as I'm not familiar with the factions, if a MOD wants to add them in I'm fine with that, If I've missed anyone out, please do say. So, without further ado, Yellow Castle era: There where, by my count, six or seven different factions from this era. As they don't have names, I've put them into one group, as calling them “the Purple Crown Guys” or “the red Triangle guys” will make it just a bit more confusing. If the MODs think I should separate them, I will. http://www.brickset....ubtheme=Classic The Lion Knights aka the Lion Crest http://www.brickset....e&subtheme=LionKnights The Black Falcons aka the Eagle crest aka Guardians of the Grey Castles http://www.brickset....e=Black Falcons The Forestmen http://www.brickset....theme=Forestmen The Black Knights http://www.brickset....e=Black Knights The Wolfpack http://www.brickset....btheme=Wolfpack The Dragon Knights aka The Dragon Masters http://www.brickset....=Dragon Knights The Royal Knights http://www.brickset....e=Royal Knights Dark Forest http://www.brickset....eme=Dark Forest The Fright Knights http://www.brickset....=Fright Knights King Leo's knights http://www.brickset....' I'm kind of biased as blue is favourite colour and I only have 5 Lion knights, it's not that I don't think their good, its just that for me a more blue/red colour scheme (i.e. the Original Lion knights/Crusaders) is much more easier than the full on "in your face" red the Kingdoms Knights use. Now the Dragon knights are a different story, green is my second favourite colour and Emerald green even more, and the brown/black/gold compliment each other nicely. And I do agree about the Dragon guys, dark red or a different colour all together would have been better, I don't mind but younger kids do get confused easy, especially when in some places Kingdoms (I think) are still being sold next to these.

Hi, just curious, is there any Gerry Anderson fans here? I grew up on Thunderbirds, and then moved on to Captain Scarlet, Space 1999, UFO, and Joe 90. Strangely though, I was never really into Stingray and I never actually seen any Fireball XL5 till it came out on DVD. Thunderbirds was half the reason I've strove to become a Engineer, Space 1999 taught me the dangers of Nuclear waste, and Captain Scarlet scared the c*** out of me when I was five. Its a fantastic show, but seriously, have you seen the violence in the show? Till this day, I'm nervous around car lifts, high voltage cables, high rise car parks, and cliffs. Anything after Space 1999 I found kind of meh, never liked terrahawks or the CGI Captain Scarlet, it was good, but it never lived up to what the original was to me. So, in conclusion, who here likes his, the great Gerry Anderson's, work?

I grew up loving (and I still do in some cases) other toys/programs, not Lego. I always liked Matchbox cars and build cities out of cardboard etc. when I was a kid and many, many years later after flicking through the channels I saw a Lego add for the 09 City Garage range or something like that. Then I found Lego.com, Brickset, then EB, and then I passed the hobby, in a way, to three of my friends and later my Girlfriend, then my cousins, and so forth. I've never actually got the Garage, but I've got a four foot city full of everything but a Garage, then I started on Space, then Pirates, then Castle, and then pretty much anything I liked, or I could get for a deal.

Just started to get into the new Castle stuff and I've got to say, why so serious about them? I love them, the blue guys are much easier on the eyes than the red and silver lion Knights, most of the sets have benefited from the last few years of new parts, we've finally got a 4 knight battle pack, the blue knights have the crownies insignia on there chests, the evil sorcerer is much more "evil" than the fantasy era one, the designs on the Minifigs are overall very good and that's just for starters. IMHO, and I know people will disagree with this, but I think the overall brilliantness and Historical Accuracy of Kingdoms and the detail in LOTR have somewhat spoilt my perception of the castle stuff, but as I missed Kingdoms I've been eager to get new stuff. However, they haven't really sold that well in my country or have been marketed well in England, and as a result the prices have rocketed down. I just got 70403 for £20.00, so to those looking to get them Amazon seems the best place. As for it continuing, IMHO, it hasn't got a chance...

"Grow up" "Get out of your basement and do something with your life" (Disclaimer: I live in a house and have a job (kind of) but because I talk Klingon, watch Sci-Fi, read comics, and build with Lego I'm naturally stereotyped) "Get a life" "Isn't Legos for kiddies?" "You need to get a new hobby" and various other things that I refuse to put here, due to the vulgar and rude nature of them, along with a number already mentioned. I'm lucky I guess because I have a number of friends and a particular other half who are FOL's, so at least some people can be grown up about it.

Darth Vader, not to get involved or whatnot, but the reason why I don't like vehicles is because, on average, they end up stupid. Does Spider-Man need a bike? No. Does he need a Helicopter? No. I'd prefer buildings, and fully understand your point, but IMHO, I've got nothing against Lego when they do vehicles like a Hydra tank or a SHEILD jeep or a speedboat, but its when TLG give me something that I 100% don't need or don't have a use for when I don't like vehicles. I know these are prototypes, and its not the sets that's not good, its the idea. What makes me mad is that there are plenty of other options Lego could do, I know its not in there hands, but having read comics all my life I can't help but feel it just screams "missed opportunity" when I see a red and blue bike for Spider-Man.

Fantastic! It's great to see more Trek MOCs here, the Detail is fantastic, from the Skull in Bones office, to the diagnostic monitors, to the orange bed sheets, to the fantastic execution of the monitors, the red colouring of the walls... just stunning. The custom minifigs are the icing on the cake, the Nurse Chapel figure in particular looks brilliant. Is that the slide out beds reused from the Botany Bay on the bottom left that featured from time to time in the Original series?

Thanks Spider-Man (Never thought I'd say that), must be going blind and senile in my old age, as already said however, I just wanted to make sure, and not let something through the net so to speak. I too hope for one with less large eyes, and boot printing, but with all these Spider-men I might as well paint them on one.

Hang on, I found the link in my favourites, I have bad eye sight and it seemed he was a darker blue, particurlay as the same seller has other 2014 stuff, sorry if I messed up, but still thought it was worth reporting : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-spiderman-and-venom-lot-figures-beautifull-/400580083598?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item5d446eff8e&nma=true&si=VDZWKVfnoo9EInKcKRr4E37EB%252FY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I've been hoping the Cap and Hulk set would be the redeeming factor, and it appears so. Falcon? New Thor? Possible New Hulk? Taskmaster? Red Skull? Hydra cannon fodder? Possible new Cap? Fantastic! It would of been better if there where more unique characters, and maybe one Hydra goon, but I'll take what we get. As for the Tank, sounds good, and the lab, well, parts fodder perhaps. I've been hoping for a better Super Villian Hideout since the Doc Ock one, I'll probably give it some more green and give it to Dr Doom. I've lost the link as the auction has ended, but one of the Mexico informants, 2011lilibetho10, had a Spider-man and a Venom. Venom was identical to this years, however Spideys costume was a much darker blue, i.e regular blue, not the light blue that Spidey's had for the last two years. Disappointed with no TTDW or CATWS stuff, but still for me at least I'd like Taskmaster or Falcon or Red Skull over a Winter Soldier, whom, as mentioned previously, is easily made purist style. As for the Spidey sets, well, apart from the Doc set, I think this quote from a Spider-man comic, made by Spidey himself, sums up my feelings: "This is bad. I mean, this is the kind of bad that's so bad you almost don't feel it. This is Trickle-Down Economics bad. This is sand-in-the-swimsuit bad. This is Detroit Tigers bad. Hell. This is Phantom Menace Bad."

Got to say that this looks great! I'd thought I'd hate them, but I look at them now and I think, with the exception of the Police Station and the Hideout, I'm going to buy them all, something I haven't said to myself for City in years. Why all the hate for the RV? I think its great to have campers and RV's, we've been complaining for years how all we get is Fire this and Police that, and when, with the exclusion of the Fire truck for an Airport, this years "Great vehicles" are Fire/Police free, we start complaining that we're getting two many rehashes? It may not seem it, but next year is 2014. The last full on Camper (ie not attached to a car ) was in 2009. That's 5-6 years, but alas, everyone's entitled to there own opinion. As for the cops, well, at least it looks interesting, the black and white colour scheme reminds me of the Classic town Police sets, and that jeep looks pretty good. The Helicopter reminds me in some way of one belonging to a world security organisation in an old 60s Kids/adults supermarionation show (a sophisticated puppet show) called Captain Scarlet, sans huge pylons and pontoons coming of the bottom. Overall however, for me at least, I had little to no expectations as I, in my mind, had written of this wave, but Lego has once again shocked me with some great stuff.

Future of the CMF as licensed characters
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Agreed. It would mean also that customizers like myself would have a better selection for making customs. And we all need Civilians for Spidey and Superman to rescue, perhaps it would also satisfy city fans because of the extra detail most likely contained on them, and great idea about Madrox, I'd buy ten. Talking of X Men I forgot about the Shi'ar, the other main alien race that I'd army build. What about Olympians or Asgardians? -
Future of the CMF as licensed characters
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
AIM, Hydra, Hellfire club, SHEILD, SWORD, Brood, Kree, Skrull, Badoon, HAMMER, Doombots, Moleoids, all large organizations/army's/creatures featured in Marvel that lend well to Army building that I could think of in a few minutes. As for DC, I'm not as familiar as with Marvel but henchmen, Darkseid's army, GCPD officers, maybe an army of Hawkmen? I'm sure someone will come up with a list but, as shown, there is certainty opportunity there for Superheroes both sides of the fence. -

I'd be more happy if they did Spidey with boot printing, as he already has a belt printed, and maybe a battle damaged Spidey with a ripped mask and costume. Disappointed about no Powerman yet, and I hate stupid childish made up vehicles. Where the hell is he going to park the thing? Aunt May's back yard? I know he is a member of SHEILD and all in the cartoon, but I much prefer a few cars or part of a building, or a full one, instead of a multi colored VTOL. It's like the Spider cars and Iron Man jets and the Superman rocket launchers that Hasbo regurgitate every once and a while, it stupid, and I excepted more from Lego. And why make it red and blue? Why not grey and black like a SHEILD vehicle? The only good thing I could use it for is my Hellfire club Guards. And I know its all ifs and buts, and I know Lego is for Kids, but still, I can't help feeling somewhat disappointed, even though all we have is a game shot and a description of a prototype....

Wasn't the Deadpool set similar? In the fact that it was a comic based set but was similar to a Scene in XMOW? And why so serious about Electro? Ultimates was great for revamping everything and the stories where good, but they've got nothing on the 616 costumes. I guess its the era of comics I grew up in, but I love old starfish head any day over the pitiful electrical current with demon eyes.

Yes, The last time a SHEILD flying car was last seen in the comics, to my knowledge, was in Age Of Ultron this year. It was a big thing back then in the 60's, and when I was a kid (not in 65, but a bit later) I loved them, a flying car belonging to a spy agency, not to mention the great Nick Fury. I actually would love either Coulson's flying car from MAOS or the comics Nick Fury's flying Ferrari.

Great ideas wesker! As I said before, and I will add a bit more here, about the battle packs. Here's my ideas: SHEILD, Brood, Kree, Skrull, Atlantian, Hydra, AIM, Hand, Mandroid, Doombot, Hellfire club, and Badoon battlepacks, with foot troopers, some sort of vehicle and some battlements (think Cap's Avenging cycle set) and parts to turn one of these foot troopers into a higher ranking officer. I addition to these packs, you could maybe have a £25 set, a base or hideout, like a SHEILD clean up crew with Hulk and a Hulkbuster Iron Man, or a Hydra Base with Baron Strucker, Madame Viper, and Cap, or a Kree lab with the Supreme Intelligence and Ronan The Accuser, or a Brood hatchery, or the inside of the Hellfire club. People will pay £100s for Clone Troopers, and I know people like army building, so why not exploit that?

As much as I am a Stark fan, I'd much prefer a Comics based FF/X Men/Avengers set/proper hall of Armour for Iron Man, or even better Castle Von Doom. Also, does anybody else hope we get some completely left field villain in the Spidey sets? I really didn't expect Dr Doom or Beetle so early in the licence, maybe Batroc the Leaper, Arcade or the Zodiac? Along with the compulsory Spider-Man villain, Kraven, Mysterio, and Electro would be my preferences.

Thanks. It was just with the somewhat indestructible skin, and the fact that the he was wiped from all government data bases, I thought he might come back later as Luke Cage. I really enjoyed it, I've got to say. I'd love to see the plane done as a £100 Lego set after the great job they done on the Quinjet.
-
Talking of agents of SHEILD, was the guy featured meant to be Luke Cage? And on the subject of Coulson, I think they're using that Chitari piece of tech from the opening to somehow project his mind from his dead body, in suspended animation of course, into the LMD to make him actually believe he is Coulson. Any which way, its going to make a good plot line in the future methinks...
