  1. Really great entries this year, all of them have merit and I wish I had ten points to give out at least. 7. ShaydDeGrai - 1 17. TooMuchCaffeine - 1 21. Kristel - 1 28. crayonboi - 1 37. Etzel - 1 Thanks! Joe
  2. Ok, thanks for the replies guys. We've been into Lego for a little over a year now, my son's just about three so I'm eager to get a train but I wasn't really happy with what was on offer. All three of the recent sets with PF looked very European to me and while I love the trains there, I just want something a little more American-looking (and diesel) for our layout so I've held off getting anything yet. I did score Maersk but it's not something you want to let a young child loose with, right? Joe
  3. It's really great! Thanks for sharing. Joe
  4. If it's not too much to ask; why is it apparent? I'm hoping to have some new trains, preferrably an American passenger one. Thanks, Joe
  5. I'm reasonably confident that Lego does focus groups on all of their products. These designs are certainly the ones that looked the coolist to the average eight year old boy. Any parents present probably deferred to the 'expert' (their child). We AFOLs can always MOC something, right? It's alot easier to just buy a set but we do have the option. Joe
  6. Really nice, you will surely have my vote. Wish Lego had combined Creator Log Cabin and Winter Village Cottage into something akin to this. Joe
  7. Same here and I used to devour comic books. My son and I would love some scans of both books if it's not too much trouble. Cheers, Joe
  8. Thanks for sharing. You were well taken care of in the Lego department. Joe
  9. I love almost everything about it! The color, interior, pump, car, you name it. One thing I'm not crazy about is the gap(s) at the corner of the building but it's a trifling matter. It's going to be tough to choose the winners this year. Joe
  10. I scored one during the recent 25% off sale at Amazon and can't wait to get it! It'll be my first castle set besides MMV and it really looks awesome. Scenes of 'Jabberwocky' are running through my head (anyone remember that movie?). It's 1575 pieces (including two horses with barding and some great minifigs) so US$ 90 works out to less than six cents a piece, a true bargain if there ever was one IMO. Wish I could've bought several.
  11. Amazon US recently had 10223 Kingdoms Joust on sale for 25% off, 1575 great Castle pieces, figs and horses for $90, great stuff. Wish I could've bought ten of 'em! Joe
  12. Those things are prone to breaking which obviously reduces the amount of pieces in circulation and drives sales (people replacing their broken ones). Joe
  13. I don't own any Technic stuff so I think the US price is reasonable and plan to buy it when my son is older. Joe
  14. LOTR and Hobbit sets aren't sold in stores here in China. An educated guess as to why would be that mainland Chinese, by-and-large, don't quite get the culture of it that you and I grew up with (wizards, elves, etc.). It's ok with me as I don't particularly care for the licensed stuff. Joe
  15. Oh, don't get me started on that, not to mention crayons and the like! Joe
  16. There are quite a lot of them in the US, take it from someone who has been to all forty-eight continental states and any railway museum or train station I could find along the way. Sometimes there's a station at the crossing which is really cool. My photos are in another country presently but if I can remember the names of some of them I'll try to post them. Oh, and thanks for the crossing trick, looks useful! Joe
  17. Ha ha, really great! Thanks for sharing. Joe
  18. Maybe 6193? Joe
  19. I'm very much against the idea of a rare minifig and have no intention in chasing it and may stop buying the CMFs altogether. Thanks, Joe
  20. I just saw this set at a ToysRUs in Beijing. It was RMB 299 which is approaching US $50. It's a nice looking set. Joe
  21. Is it possible for you to post it (or a condensed version) here? The site where it's posted is blocked here in China. Joe
  22. Really cool Cale. I hope to do something half-as-good someday. Thanks for sharing! Joe
  23. Wow, really great. I remember those cabooses (MoPac livery being my personal favorite) and you've really done them justice. Thanks, Joe
  24. Thanks for the review. I occasionally 'go to the dark side' and dabble in clone brands myself as they are quite cheap here in China. I think I've bought three Ban Bao sets and only one of them was very good; a fire engine. I can't complain though as the price was right.
  25. Yes, really very nice. I love the colors. It looks very restrained and refined and would fit in with the official sets quite handsomely. Joe
