Rally jeep "Storaq 2.0"
skppo replied to Sicil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Seems sturdy and well built. Nice job! Wish I had a servo. -
Peterbilt 379 & CAT C15
skppo replied to Sheepo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh good lord ! At first I didn't realise it had unimog wheels, but when I saw the picture with the supercars. Impressive functions as always. I feel that if you make trailer it needs to have a uncommon functionality to match the complexity of your truck. -
Brutal. Technic challenge entry.

Wow it looks like a proper truck with the bigger wheels. I love the last photo.- 17 replies

I like to think i'm good at mechanical puzzles. I've solved almost all puzzle things in our house. I taught myself to solve a 3x3 rubiks cube with a guide and after that i've nearly solved a 4x4 with my own algorithms. (I still need to figure out a way to switch edge pairs.) At least i like solving mechanical problems. When it comes to building i always have to choose form or function. I tend to be too ambitious with my goals and then get frustrated with my builds when i don't meet them. Creativity is a key component in building. No matter how good you are with problems you need to have a need for creating to get anything done.

Announcement: MocPlans.com
skppo replied to nychase's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It would help collecting the pieces if it worked with Rebrickable. The system it has is really helpful to see how much you need to buy. -
That is a great looking chassis mod. Maybe move the crane to between the cabin and bed? I think that woulde be cool.

My first attempt at a MOC
skppo replied to Samanen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Tervetuloa vaan tänne! Looking good so far for a first moc. The proportions look realistic. I always have a hard time getting them right. Prehaps you are using a bluprint to scale them? Would moving the pneumatics more to the rear hinder the strength too much? The angle would be steeper then. -
z3'sTechnic Garage
skppo replied to z3_2drive's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I really like the shape of the raptor mod. Not a lot of technic models have that sort of roundness. -
Now all it needs is a functional rocket powered mindstorms sky crane and a huge delay in the control link. That thing was the best part about the real thing. It was just insane how the landing worked. Big mindstorm projects like these are cool but things that are mostly automatic impress me more than just rc.

New style of crawling begins
skppo replied to z3_2drive's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lego rock crawlers are coming very close to RC crawlers. Axle mounted servos are common in those. Only the wheels are lacking but atleast lego offers rims in useful sizes for third party tires. Nice job on this chassis. It will be great to see these sort of "supercrawlers" developed even further! -

Sorry about that but this post was primarily targeted to those who own these sets and know them by name -

Yeah I'm leaning towards 8868 and 8880. These will be mostly collectibles but some mods will probably occur. If i'm lucky and nobody else finds these (which is likely, being a small auction site) I might get them both at a decent price. Thanks for the advice! -
I have looked around interenet auctions and found some exellent deals for old classics. (Looks like someone needs some money and fast) These include: 8868 Air tech claw rig 8880 Supercar 8865 Testcar 8448 Super street sensation 8458 Silver champion Which one/ones would you recommed buying/bidding? 8868 and 8880 appeal to me the most, but the 8865 is ridiculously cheap.

Oh wow. That looks badass. Do the tires rub the fenders badly? Hoping to see these in action!

So You Think I can't Build?
skppo replied to Alasdair Ryan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Really nice models. Especially the loader! So many pneumatics I was just building a smaller one and now it looks horrible compared to yours -
I don't mind having a lot of vehicles though other things would be cool too. I just don't have any ideas what they could be. GBC is a great idea but i think it would fit better in to Creator theme. Power functions should be taken further. I would really like an radio controller/reciever now that we have a servo motor. IR is just too limited for faster things. That being said a fast RC car made out of traditional pieces would be in my wish-list. Older ones don't have a lot of room for customisation with their very specific parts.

Do you have other turntables available? The one you are using might be faulty. My first turntable i got from an NXT set was broken and i thougt thats what the turntables are like. Only when i got a second one i realized it was super bad, it should rotate freely for a second after you give it a spin. My faulty one barely turns under a load with all the friction. Maybe i should tear it open and see what's wrong.

[REVIEW] 9398 - Rock Crawler
skppo replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Is the orange color the same as the unimog, or the lighter kind ? (8365 has this other orange) In the comparison picture it looks diffrent from the 8297 seats. Could just be the lighting being more intense on the crawler.
