Is that right? I hadn’t seen that yet. Even better. The print on the front is pretty great. A fitting modernization of a classic like the Black Falcon update. It sounds like we’re in for a similar treatment with the upcoming lions.

Starting to see high quality pics of this set, and I must say, the new forestmen torso is super nice. Much better than the blurry sneak peak in the BttF video would suggest. That’s cool to see. Also, don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but the new shield appears to be pretty much identical to the original except for a very thin black border around the green. I suspect the print will be more bold as well. We’ll have to see when someone gets side-by-side pics.

I like the play by play too, but it’s really just confirming my distaste for this exclusive delivery method. I’d rather just buy the damn set instead of playing these games.

Yeah, I’ve been calling the Dallas store every week, and so far, nothin’.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set

Well, you can worry about it if you want. I’m still optimistic that we will see it Saturday, but that’s mostly because measured expectation is more fun than (potentially) needless worrying.- 2,976 replies

Love it! I’ll have to spend some more time with the pics, but I haven’t found the Easter egg yet.- 28 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 23. Rumors and discussion

I sure hope you’re right. That’s about the only way to rescue this series for someone like me. -

That’s certainly a favorable translation. If done correctly, I’m sure I’d have to get several. That’s a relief. -

Well this is disappointing. This may be the first non-licensed series that I skip entirely. -
I'm not camping out just on principle. TLG offers products I want to buy, I buy them. I'm not chasing them on the internet for the privilege of that transaction. I'm already inconvenienced that it's a GWP instead of something I can just buy outright. I'm not going to schedule my day around their silly rules. If I miss it, I will just get it at my convenience on the secondary market. Too many hoops to jump through.

Aren’t we all!!

This is really fun. Definitely fits within the spirit of other forestmen sets. I also think the black/brown sections flow well together. Also, your version of the creator castle is great! The way you scaled it up is just right.

Certainly, but I'm judging it on what we got, rather than what we could've gotten.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set

Maybe a different term would be more agreeable to you, but for my part, any LotR series that somehow manages to skip Nazgûl on fell beast, Mumakil, and an entire culture that is the centerpiece of the third film, it qualifies as half-hearted. Like I said, I got most of the line and I like what I did get, but it was sorely hurting for more of the story to be represented.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
SirBlake replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
1: I doubt it. Based on the previous half-hearted LotR effort (not a single Gondor soldier? Really?), I don’t expect that was a big success. Though I did personally buy 95% of Hobbit/LotR stuff, and I quite liked it. 2: the time to announce that has likely past, since Avatar 2 releases two and a half months after the Amazon series and we’re already hearing about that.- 2,976 replies

It’s reasonable to expect we’ll get both in the big 90th anniversary castle, so I would assume that would increase the probability of those parts hitting Bricks and Pieces. I highly doubt they would hit the Pick a Brick wall though.

I love it! The Wolfpack has long needed a boat, and this is a great example.

I think I can solve the puzzle for you. 1. There's a $100 castle on shelves right now. 2. There's never been a truly large castle in a classic (non-licensed) sense with modern techniques. Puzzle solved.- 2,976 replies

Very well said. Exactly my thoughts. Worrying about a price hike that isn’t even real yet for this set is extra stress I don’t need. It’ll cost what it costs and we’ll all have to make our own personal calculations.- 2,976 replies

The only difference the packaging color makes to me is the hue of the top layer of my trash can the day I find them. -
Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

Yeah, it’s unfortunate. I really wish they didn’t have exclusives that were tied to geographic locations. It cuts a lot of people off from being able to obtain those products. -

And a new hat/hair piece and unique torso and legs. I was quite happy with that one. Maybe my standards just aren't as high as yours.- 2,976 replies

I’m fortunate enough to have all of the classic forestmen sets from when I was a kid. The Camouflaged Outpost came out first, and in many ways it’s my favorite. It’s just so wonderfully accessible, opening 3 ways. The Crossing is super cool and the River Fortress is a great concept and fantastic build. The parts list is pretty basic. If you have the spare pieces, I highly recommend building it.
