  1. I want to say it was 2-3 weeks, but that was over a year ago, and they’ve been fussing with the system so much recently, I’m not sure prior experience is indicative of future performance.
  2. That MOC is beautiful, but I’m not sure where I would put something that tall/deep. It’d be a cool problem to have though.
  3. Yeah I think I’m going to have to try the great hall addition. I did the same thing for the 3-in-1, but I think this has a much better chance to really flow with the rest of the set instead of just being another tacked on piece. Nothing against the 3-in-1. The modularity of it is one of its strengths, but being able to add to this new one in a cohesive way is exciting.
  4. Indeed. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the store exclusivity model stinks.
  5. Increasing the volume of obvious army builder parts seems like a pretty simple fix for this.
  6. Lots Of good thoughts there, Dale. Regarding the wishlist for armor, I have two things I wish I could magic wand into existence: 1. Dark Pearl grey shoulder armor like the part that came with the Ideas blacksmith. The silver helmets and armor just don’t look right to my eye on the Black Falcons. However, my small army of new BF’s look great with dark pearl grey conical helms. Matches their arms well. 2. Printed chest armor. The plain silver does nothing for me. Kind of seems like a give-up like a plain blue Majisto.
  7. It certainly is. I get it though. Appearing in one set a decade ago with a “broken mold” urban legend… it’s the perfect storm for memage. I just feel fortunate that I scored the MVR when it first came out.
  8. Dang, that’s too bad. Such a thing would be handy these days.
  9. Anybody know what the little room next to the flour mill is? It seems like there’s some sort of story in just about every nook and cranny. I figure they wouldn’t make an empty room in that spot.
  10. This is fun. The candles and lanterns do a lot to add some detail to this one.
  11. That would certainly make for a more lively thread, lol. I’m open to it.
  12. Question for the group: would it be appropriate/acceptable if I started a separate “BaM sightings in the wild” thread? The arrival of BaM stuff seems to be super-inconsistent and according to my local store, delivery of new elements is not something that’s based on a calendar event, but rather initiated at the employee level based on their individual stores inventory. I was thinking it would be handy if we had a thread dedicated to alerting other members when they spot new BaM parts so others don’t have to call and hassle their local store like I do, lol.
  13. According to the Dallas store, they have to request new stock, so rather than it be calendar related, it’s based on individual store inventory and employee initiative. They also said their weekly truck comes in on Wednesdays, so I’ll be calling them again tomorrow. Interesting. I switched all of my Black Falcons conical helms to Pearl Dark Grey conicals. They just didn’t look right with shiny silver helmets to me.
  14. In my experience, each store handles BaM differently. Last summer, the Dallas store would only assemble complete figs and you couldn’t mix and match. I’m hoping that policy has since changed, as I’m really only after torsos and legs.
  15. You may have been early to the party. I've been calling the closest Lego store to me (Dallas, TX) every week since the new stock has started showing up in Europe, and they still haven't gotten any of the new BaM parts. I like that we have alternative minifig stuff available too, I just wish they were easier to get. It requires lucky timing and a trip to the official store, which for me, isn't exactly around the corner and requires a fair amount of big city traffic that isn't any fun. That's why I've been calling first. I'm not making that drive without confirmation.
  16. Hah! That's a fair point. I dunno, I just like a little variety in my army.
  17. Yes, that reasoning makes good sense. To combat this, I've started by making my own archers for the new Black Falcons. I got some Rohan Soldier torsos and Eomer/Theoden legs and put blue arms on them. They look great, and work well with the desire for scale mail. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=lor009#T=S&O={"iconly":0} However, since the unveiling of the BaM second BF torso and these new Lions, I think I'm going to transfer my parts-bashed archers to the Lions and make the new BaM Chain mail+cape work for the BF archers. It's all fussy details, but it's fun world building. Yeah, I noticed that as a kid in the 80's, and organized all of my armies that way. • Original Lions/Crusaders: guards = crossed axes and conical helms, archers = lion torso and bullet helms • Black Knights: guards = red scale mail, archers = blue scale mail Black Falcons have always been the outlier since they didn't get an alternate torso print. It is pretty great. I also love that they don't just use one single technique or color for it. Keeps things interesting.
  18. I certainly hope that's the case. Most licensed series are somewhat exclusionary just by the fact that the vast majority of us don't buy/collect every license. Almost everybody is interested in unlicensed CMFs. At least, that's what my very unscientific assumption is.
  19. Thank you DD! Back to our regularly scheduled program... With the recent offerings (Ideas Blacksmith/3-in-1/Lion's Knights), we now have more context to the "modern" design direction for Lego castle. Some things I've noted: 1. It's cool that the 3-in-1 is rendered in mostly dark bley with light bley accents so that it contrasts nicely with the new Lions castle. 2. All three feature wattle & daub/half timber construction on them. Not only is that something that was used in history, but it's just more interesting than just grey walls. We can likely expect more of this in any future sets of this nature. 3. They seem to have moved away from multiple prints for a given army/faction. For example, in the last full theme in 2013, there were 3 unique Crownie II torsos and a printed armor piece. Now they seem to have gone with a single tunic for all and plain armor pieces. That's not my preference, as I always liked it when foot soldiers and archers were easily distinguished from each other. Or at least, you could build your army that way.
  20. Isn’t that exciting! So many secrets, I can’t wait to build this thing and see how it works.
  21. GOOD GRIEF! I am so worn out on this gender identity BS. There's a time and a place for this kind of discussion, but for my part, I wish it were never in the context of Lego, and certainly not multiple pages of threads here. It would seem that TLG's goal of avoiding this bear trap has backfired, because it's almost all anybody can talk about. If it had been a mostly male army and a warrior queen, nobody would have said anything about it in either direction. I personally don't care one way or the other. Lego is made to be changed, customized and adapted to fit our own vision. Make every character female on your own shelf, I don't care. I do care about the thread about the greatest, most exciting set in a generation (for me anyways, and likely most of you) being RUINED by this pointless debate. It's extremely frustrating to have to wade through everyone's nuanced opinion of a "controversial" issue that has no business taking over what should be the greatest Lego conversation ever. Can we please, PLEASE just drop it already?
