  1. This is a nice bakery, with some great details, like the awning over the front window and the exposed bricks on the facade. There are more differences in window design than I would go for in a building of this size, but it works in this case as it looks great in the street view. You can see the Winter Village Bakery influences, but it's different enough to make it well and truly your own.
  2. I brought 5 of the new Friends sets in one go when they came out earlier this year. The old lady behind the counter commented that "someone's a lucky girl". Although, those sets were (mostly) for my daughter, I responded with "Yes, I am". It was worth it just for the look on her face - I don't think she approved. I don't hide that I enjoy building with LEGO. Most people's attitudes change pretty quickly once you show them what can be done with LEGO these days. For those that don't get, it's their loss, not mine. At home, my daughter and her friends are allowed to play with all the LEGO we have, with just two rules - it stays off the floor and they don't touch any of my builds (including WIPS) until they have been photographed. I trust her friends, their parents and my friends enough not to take anything. Having said all that, I do "hide" some of the more valuable pieces. For example, the DBG parrots are not stored in the "Animals" box, while the red and green ones are.
  3. I also sort those types by use. For example, I have a box (with compartments) called "furnishings" which includes those pieces that I commonly use to decorate the inside and outside of a building. It has the trash cans, crates, cupboards, lamp posts, dishes (lamp shades or umbrellas), clear minifigure heads, printed tiles, cash register slopes, etc.
  4. The rundown building is amazing!
  5. That's hilarious! Good luck in the contest.
  6. Nice entry! I like how the house has become part of the tree.
  7. This looks great. I love how you have used the white arches to frame the windows. The water tower looks a little out of place on a residential building, though.
  8. Brickset is probably the best option for this. I don't think it has the ability to order sets by finished size. However, one of the tabs for each set is a "Description" page, which has the TLG description and this usually includes the size of the model.
  9. This is a gorgeous little shop all round, but I really love the front facade.
  10. These scenes look great. I particularly like the office (desk ) and the conservatory. Will they be combined into a building or are they meant to be stand alone builds? LOL. Hadn't noticed that. He's certainly having a bad day!
  11. I should have realised - I have two of those Malm drawer units in the dark brown/black colour in my dining LEGO room!
  12. The structures are great, but what stands out for me in these building are the interior details and the gardens. My favourite details are the dark tan stairs, the yellow and white chairs, the simple, but effective, solution for the fridges and the drawers that the glass bottle sits on.
  13. Welcome to Eurobricks! It looks really good and fits in perfectly with the other modulars. Would be nice to see some more shots, particularly of the building by itself, so that we can see some more of the details.
  14. This is a gorgeous building, with a great facade and colour combination. The interior details are fantastic also. I like the art as well, particularly the one with the two white whips.
  15. Nice entry! The bold colours work really well here and the interior fittings so far are perfect. I do think it could use a little more on the inside, though. The area behind the counter stands out for being so bare compared to the excellent details everywhere else.
  16. This is great! I love the clean lines of the architecture in this building, especially how the windows are framed. The candles are also nicely done, as is the edging around the flowers.
  17. Thanks for the kind words, I'm stoked knowing that my buildings have inspired a Guilds of Historica build! Still not ready to join a guild, although all this attention is making me want to have a go at a Historica-style build.
  18. I'm a huge fan of the Guilds of Historica builds and am continually amazed by what I see here. It's too early to consider joining a guild - I've never tried to build in this style. Mind you, I might be tempted if there's an opening for a beautiful princess ... Only kidding, I'd rather be the powerful sorceress on the back of a jade dragon working with her band of misfits to overcome the dark forces in the realm.
  19. I love this alternative build, particularly the gazebo surrounded by the carpet of lavender , the carriage with its gorgeous blue curtains and how you have framed the entrance to the main building.
  20. Great scene! The path and stone wall look amazing and contrast perfectly with the masses of orange flowers.

  22. [insert "big bear hug" emoticon here]
  23. Finding the pieces in the big pile of mixed up bricks is part of the fun for me. It does mean you can start straight away, which is a great advantage when you have an impatient 6 y.o. doing the building with you. For me and my daughter, part of the fun is also seeing who can find the right piece first. When she's not there, I still don't sort, but I don't mix up the bags - each bag is its own little pile. There's just something fun about rummaging through a large pile of LEGO, like we used to do when we were kids. This applies to sets only, though. Loose parts for MOCs are meticulously sorted!
  24. This is a really nice MOD!
