  1. Regardless of the fact that I also like TBBT, as long as Cuusoo already comfirmed Doctor Who, it can mean that they don't reject other TV drama licenses. All the three present project licesnes have a chance.
  2. There are some points compared with regular minifigure themes. Friends is smarter than the weird City Arctic because the title didn't restrict us to stay in Heartlake City. Two is there are City and other independent action themes in minifigure world, but we don't know if TLC would also do the same for minidolls. Jungle adventure is interesting and new, but if we want to develop a real action story for girls, it has to be an independent action theme for girls/minidolls, not a subtheme featuring Olivia's life. I actually think Ultra Agents can release a "minidoll version" for girls because this theme looks very acceptable for girls, same as a minifigure version of Friends. Licensed theme is another story. Though Disney minidolls are obviously targeted at girls, after all Disney stories have many action plot (such as Brave) and we're not sure if future licensed minidolls sets would have adventure/fighting elements as well. My crticism against animals is that there are no large adult animals introduced for this line. They could play as the parents of these cubs or enemies when Olivia has to protect her camp or helpless herbivores. I'd also like to see new large elephants though maybe they don't exist in jungle. Still, this series provide a good reuse of the animals and a good twist with the life outside the City that features that characters we've known well. Despite the restriction that Friends is still about a realistic life of girls, future subthemes could be other kinds of vacations or other seasonal sets stressing on autumn and winter.
  3. Well then the problem is should it be an independent theme or a subtheme? Arctic things are welcome no matter which theme they're titled. As mentioned TLC might just try to regard all modern real-life technologies and vehicles as "City".
  4. I do like the series itself, and after all the possible defects of story shouldn't relate to the value of physical characters. The difference can only be between "hot sale" and "superhot sale" which is kind of negligible.
  5. Sorry to say if you're new here, you might have to know which subforums and classifications Eurobricks have. This topic has been discussed and isn't related to this subforum.
  6. As others said unfortunately she's not iconic enough to be in this series. Most of the male characters have more spotlights in this series, at most we can merely replace them with twin aunts and Edna. Unless there's a regular D2C Springfield Elementary School set with some girls included. But still I think school boys are too many in this list. The aunts are iconic enough to be in this series. Unless we're saying that they don't sell too well. If there is room for D2C regular sets, I'm inclined to see those who don't fit in regular sets such as Itchy&Scratchy and those whose workplace wouldn't be considered as a set. Krusty Burger and Kwik-E-Mart can both be imagined.
  7. Unless TLC is able to increase their production (4 or 5 series per year), that couldn't happen (and shouldn't happen) for the sake of normal series and other licenses who deserve a series. For me it's more realistic to ask some regular sets. Much agreed. Remember that the previous series provide 6 ladies which was already a progress, there is no reason to make this series hit the bottom. Edna and twin aunts are iconic enough to be in the series, definitely. The problem Simpsons the show itself has might be that there isn't an iconic "girl" character being a friend/classmate of Simpson siblings. Mackleberry twins might count but it's hard to include one of them only in a blind bag.
  8. I guess that's just The Cat Upstairs. It's in charge of unpredictable earthquakings and other natural disasters for the Lego world.
  9. Thax for information. It's like the demand of families with religious tranditions which don't appear in Asia. I wonder if the daily buildings can be more "combinable", that means they can put together or use in other regular sets in order to market to non-religious families or customizers. Or as said now Winter Village series look more like a competitive seasonal product. I agree that the City and Friends are also kind of repetitive now. I hope they can make good use of their subthemes instead of just some generic combinations every year. This year the Arctic team series looks like a neat idea for Advent Calendar
  10. Not saying that this series is a big miss (though personally I'm not happy with the protagonists), but the fact that characters made bad impressions would still have some impacts on how many people want to get them. Or sometimes it's that both good and bad impressions make characters recognizeable. The movie power always appeal to enourmous demands though sometimes it' may be negative (moviegoers and FOLs would buy it no matter what defects the story have).
  11. How Business works all the time: I just met the Pirate King at Malwart. She doesn't look quite good today. After Wald established his animation studio, in another business trip he happened to fall to a planet called Chima. He traded those backwards with advanced technologies in order to fight the outlanders. Eventually he was elected as the tribal leader and renames himself with a notable "e" in the front. One possible reason why Disney didn't make it to The Lego Movie. Wigs are important private properties for certain careers.
  12. It's not something new..... I occasionally ran into theBrickBlogger and saw the instructions written in 2011. I happen to own some Tina's from the old Creator sets so I decide to make one. This is the closet combination from minifigure parts that looks like the original figure, and I think it looks pretty great. Though the idea creator akunthita said the "little noses" might bother some customizers, weird and ironic enough, in today's view we're already accustomed to see those licensed minifigures with non-traditonal heads, for example, that family with a big house. So far the Friends are easiest to deal with among the minifigures customization. There are also some outstanding figure designs in Belville, but as I know the size of the Belville figures are much bigger and difficult to be customized. I guess I would spend some time to find out.
  13. Well for a normal Lego player we can imagine any minifigure to be good or bad in our own canon. But for advertising movie products to appeal moviegoers, the "unkind" cast of CMF series might turn them down alittle. The difference bewtween this series and previous series is we might not predict the characters' personality by only judging from their physical designs (there are exceptions like Vampire and Witch from series 2).
  14. Great job!! You definitely have lots of love for Larry.
  15. Well... I have to admit that I've never bought one of them , and I'm afraid to show my prejudice without having a physical example in my hand. If there's something incorrect, please inform me. In my experience, I do enjoy seeing Adent Calendars in toy stores during the winter holidays, but usually I'm not interested in their general content, perhaps it's due to that Advent Calendars are not popular in my own region/culture, or maybe it's just that I'm not good at making good use of small parts. Each block has to be independent so there are rare larger buildings like the station from 7753. We can see the designers have tried a lot, but it's still hard to make every small building as "seasonal" as large sets like Winter Village. The boxes also feature very beautiful paintings, and provide a cardboard paper to allow you play the buildings and figures on them, though I'm not a fan of box collecting. Minifigures/dolls are usually the stars in regular sets, but in advent calendars they're not always sometimes. Santa Claus usually plays the star in City sets, the others are some representives of popluar City careers, while the rest are occasional citizens. Though some of them come with accessories like scarf, in my view the figs are not that "seasonal". In the newer Friends series. there are only two minidolls included with winter clothes (which regular sets haven't used so far) and a Santa girl suit, but it's a pity there's no male Santa Claus minidoll. Star Wars goes strong recently, especially with some notable characters "cosplaying". It's really a shame that TLC doesn't consider to introduce more themes for calendars now, even if there were the remarkable Pirate and Castle calendars. Not to think about other dream licenses (Marvel AC?), a calendar based on a current action theme like Chima or TLM would be amazing. I'm curious about how others think about the advent calendars? Are they the mustbuys for most AFOLs or more for KFOLs?
  16. Baker's Car or Snack Car would more likely happen in Friends since they've done a bakery store. What City could possibly make might be a sandwich/lunch-related business that looks like a need of busy City life. The IceCream Truck is obviously a special case under the name of TLM. Well, there is a stall in the upcoming 60050. Uh, Friends have much more creative ideas and they're definitely not full of pink. I'm not glad to hear this.
  17. Well my local ToysRUs have all the regular sets, and the Rescue Reinforcements is not available in other chain stores.
  18. (spoiler alert) I actually keep wondering, does the story help or harm the sales of CMF series? Though the characters do look appealing in personalities and designs, the fact is many of these characters show their negative side more than the positive side in the whole story (kind of the writers' problem, but the length of story restricts their time to make it up as well). Not sure if I'm too sensitive.
  19. Good thought. I guess there are two major things decide whether girls/boys are interested in Lego products. One is the building abilities, the other is the theme concepts. Theme concepts can be easily controlled by designers. During the dark ages of TLC most themes except Belville were obviously targeted at boys only and no themes were neutral enough for girls. But when coming to building, girls naturally lack of some abilities and interests so they seldom treat brick houses with dissembling and creativity. Belville was somewhat a pity. Not talking about the compatibility with other themes, its scale does resetict designs of building houses so they were unable to be as appealing as other regular sets. I don't really care about visual signs since these can be regarded as a different building style / character personality. Spiritually, though Friends doesn't often focus on many real-life careers like City does (that means it doesn't introduce female firefighters and police, maybe only Vet Sophie counts), here are still many scenes show that girls acan be "daring" as boys, like the upcoming jungle adventures. The only pity could be that these are alittle overshadowed by the "real adventures" that TLC keep advertising -- which are the action themes and licensed stories. There is still an increase of minifigure-loving girls as we can see. The controversy of minidolls themselves are more like whether they're marketed to be in an enclosed world rather than being put together with other themes. To the group of consumers whom Friends initially target at, they are not interested or encouraged to learn about other Lego products that doesn't have the minidolls or different stories.
  20. It is creative, but alittle weird as an indiivdual. I might imagine a larger update for ATMs.
  21. Litereally all licenses can have a chance if Cuusoo never gave a reason or guideline. If it's just for the permission of license from Cuusoo, I can say that many other licenses also have the chance already. These include the BTTF, Ghostbusters and some other licenses used/discontinued in past Lego regular products such as Avatar and Toy Story. The rise of votes is mostly due to the explosion of expectation from DW fans. For other licenses, it's glad to know that BTTF has a chance to get the second set, but I'm not sure if the voters do care about the rest of licenses. After all it still depends on the quality of projects and we're not 100% ensured to get physical sets. I have faith in those talented MOCs, but at the same time I hope Cuusoo Team can announce more themes/licenses that are allowed or not allowed, not just one little update for DW.
  22. Not being a DW hater, it's alittle unfair for GlenBricker since the creator also have some other good projects with few votes (my favourite is the Magic School Bus, honestly). If the votes are just due to that license, this project would have fewer chances to pass for lack of designs and originality. I'd hope to see every creator come up with a new set based on different generation of the DW series. It might even help us to get the whole DW collection.
  23. Well modern themes are what we can relate more to so I guess that make sense, oh, but I'd say there should also be more subthemes for City for that I've never understood why Police has always been such a constant staple. Strictly speaking, the Spanish style ship wasn't a very compete subtheme, though it'd be nice to see different styles of ships. Vikings can also be regarded as part of the pirates.
  24. I personally believe that the TLG/Cuusoo team have the responsibility to make it as clear as possible in order to prevent project creators from wasting their times, while some internal business dealings can't be declared in Cuusoo. The current problem is that guidelines mostly tend to describe the conflict of physical design, not projects for beneficial reasons. Doctor Who might be the first step, and I hope to see they simply announce other (un)available themes and licenses. Sandcrawler isn't a surprise since everyone knows it was already in Lego history (much like one of the guideline) and TLC would remake it on their own. I think the Cuusoo projects based on ongoing licensed need to be "not considered by TLC themselves" for reasons. For example, Minas Tirith which is larger than regular products, and a Disney Kingdom Heart which is a crossover media. As said, the project creater may improve the original one (which should follow the new guidelines) and submit again. But since the original project got rejected, I haven't seen any news from him and cannot contact him.
  25. Oh, that's horrible. Hope that they come there soon. I don't know the actual sales of thes polybags for sure, but it's alittle weird that TLC want to sell three different kinds at the same time.
