True. I don't hate the cone, but the missing hair looks like that TLG put their focus on the wrong place. The proportion of face could have been better.I also find Anna's hat abit weird. It's not a thick piece but rather looks like a part of the real hair.

Cute holiday elves, great job. Can't wait to see more.

Great review . I'm not too surprised with the content, we know it's a playhouse thing, but I would expect all flowers and decorations to be iced colors, not to make the whole place too colorul and habitable for Elsa to end up her life. This definitely reminds me of Belville snow castles, but I do wish this Frozen set to be as big as them, which are big enough for minifigure/dolls and we could see a bigger lobby. And still a note: I've not seen Elsa declared as a Disney Princess in recent news, and I don't think it's the main reason why LEGO didn't do a new theme for Frozen based on the fact LEGO have introduced some other Disney/Pixar themes so far.

The main point I care about is whether Elves is going to have a TV cartoon series to help us know the story. If they do, then it'll be a similiar commercial case with Ninjago and Chima: the popular original series guarantee its continuation. In Friends' case, it doesn't have complicated storylines, but TLG doesnt' really invest on Friends cartoon series as they do for the others. It feels like Castle has gone seasonal......, uh, I mean Castle doesn't have a continual storyline, but not Elves has. If Elves gets a new story, it could end up as a whole new plot, like Beville which includes different princess eras. I'm curious too. If it was meant to be any kind of Castle-subtheme or action theme, it could be that there are four elf tribes which have warfare problems, much like Chima. So far the Elves sets just focus on the main Elves, much liek Friends' story focus on the five heroines. It'd be nice to see a dark elf tribe as a series continuation. Collecting keys also sounds like another action theme, but usually there are monsters watching for the treasures, like MF, PQ. Just based on what we've seen, Emily and the elves are just having some adventures in dangerous places, which is a similiar idea from Friends Jungle, which didn't give us hunters or predators.

Judging by compatibility, the minidolls hair that has physical problems on minifig is Stephanie due to her fringe. As for certain minifigure ones which don't work well with minidolls, their common problem is that the long hairstyles usually surround the shoulders of figs, however they don't suit the shoulders of dolls. The rest are mostly okay. The thickness of hairpieces of dolls are mostly thicker than minifigs so minifig hairstyles don't look that good on minidolls sometimes.

Okay, I didn't realize that Azari appears in two sets. That means four main elves appear in two sets while Emily and the bakery guy appear in one. So much improvement on images. Especially the official character portraits. Feels like the characters from this theme are older than Friends and probably will target at older girls who watch high school drama. Hope that we can see more sophisticated fantasy buildings in future waves. Yeah, for unknown reason we don't see many cases with Friends hairstyles reintroduced in other themes, while Friends 2015 begin to include some minifig ones. I believe some licensed female characters could have been more accurate with them. And speaking of that, I wonder why the bakery guy doesn't use an old elf headpiece (from Hobbits, CMF Elf / Holday Elf) but has to share the new one with Farran?

I'm not sure about this idea of maknig it a series or even a theme. First, Minecraft has become an overfavored example to all Ideas/Cuusoo projects, which failed passing or have passed once but don't get a second set. We should notice that the project was meant to be "female fig project", not the later "research theme". We may continue the research routine, but that means some other females from the original project (ex, female judge) would not be able to return. The major issue as an independent series is the conflict with current themes. Friends seem to stick to the main Friends, who have interests in those professional things, instead of introducing other adult women who work in Heartlake City. Mean while, LEGO City aka LEGO Police, could be in charge of the City people instead. We've seen small City sets like that, so I'm sure all characters from this project could, too. The other main debate is its original name "female minifigure sets". It was orignially a single opinion against LEGO's lack of female minifigures in modern sets (which have been slightly improved this year). Making more sets of this series would literally make it a "female fig supplement pack" despite there are building details. My suggestion is to add one male character when one set already includes more than three females, as said, if LEGO stick to the "research" topic, not "gender". If LEGO treat it like an elevated version of LEGO City, I seriously hope that they invent more in this project. Not letting fans to expect a more sophiscated Paleontologist in CMF line. (Of course, it's interesting to bring those scientific CMFs into this set.

Collectable Minifigures Advent Calendar 2014 - LDD MOC
Dorayaki replied to Yooha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's a interesting, but I'm abit confused. I know you're not suggesting an official product, but it looks more like a CMF wishlist rather than a seasonal collection. I'd say you may try to find some original character relate to Xmas theme (the first two days are qualified), or add some Xmas variants to existed CMFs (ex, Xmas Samurai, Winter Zombie). Despite these, I think your choices of figures are pretty nice. Flatland lady is too lovely , but somehow I can't recall where her headpiece comes from. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Unless LEGO would write an original story for the return of Castle, most of us usually refer to the one and only male Minotaur from the myth. I assume many current CMF molds show to be exclusive to one character and would hardly return in the future rehashing. Both mascots from this series are obvious examples. Aliens look like easy choices for gender swap though they could be stereotypically added lipstick just like Alien Villainess. I don't think she needs a dress. Even if she does, she can use Lisa's cloth or a shorter slope. -
REVIEW: 71008 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13
Dorayaki replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Fisherman's beard had been rubbery as i know. I don't see any LEGO figure part getting both rubery/plastic versions. I wonder what decides the material. For example, most minidoll hairs use rubbery likely due to the flexibility of inserting accessories. Not a bad thought, but the Egyptian warriors who actually meet the Romans might be descendants.- 104 replies

REVIEW: 71008 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13
Dorayaki replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Fast as alsways. The major thing I'm not happy with is the neglection of certain colors for the package , though it's not the main point. The King reminds me of Poker cards in many ways, his face, torso, color paletter and etc, and it's pretty lovely. The tail from the mascot is cute as well. It looks usefull for animal MOC designs. (Unikitty's new friend? ) The Paleontolgist just looks like a missing character from Ninjago Ideas RI, and is a must-have for those consumers. The tail looks abit similiar with many other tails-in-hat (Gail and Katherina's helmets) but perhaps TLG is runnig out ideas for this. Th fossil is just superior! Carpenter's jeans print looks pretty useful, reminding of the Power Miner ones. Fencer, as predicted, is not a girl sadly, and I don't think we'll see a female counterpart in this case. I feel pretty strang that "Samurai" is an official name. Technically the former male counterpart is called "Samurai Warrior" but in Japanese it could be more accurate to call her "Bugeisha". She's not my cup of tea unfortunately, since she has both rehashing characteristics and similiarity with Samurai X (oh, so Mr Whitefang doesn't compare the girls this time?). If my memories don't go wrong she's the very first CMF lady wih swords? Diva's general design doesn't really interest me as well, though her individual prints look usefull for MOC figs. Galaxy Trooper displeases me in many ways. His face design makes me wonder if he is not popular in his own team. :p Galaxy Patrol is still my favorite so far. My personal question for the Minifigures Team is the controversial (maybe) introduction of special/licensed series. I'd like to know whether they're also in charge of the special/licensed minifigures or they have to work in a matrix team? Does it affect their working period since it must take about 3 months for the team to develop and they're not allowed to go back to normal series as soon as they want? As for the online game, does the orginial characters from the current MMO come from their design that might be in a future series? The rest of the figures all work pretty nice so no addons. Great review and great interview. See you next time. Remember Fisherman, sorry?- 104 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Is that confirmed? If so It's a good news. Not sure if it's the same case with Unicorn Suit. As I replied before, as long as Ninjago is an ongoing theme that LEGO would like to keep on with, the generic characters of Japanese origin from other themes should be as different as possible. I don't think a ninja/samurai counterpart is a good choice at this point, unless their designs are identifiable enough.I didn't really mean historical references and I don't refuse to see a female samurai when conditions permit. As an Asian I didn't come about Bugeisha when seeing her, maybe she needs a more accurate hairpiece or inner print. Hope that next time we could see a Shogun or Geisha. I'm really fine with her. Robot Lady is the worst gender swap case IMO. I think the lipstick could just brings out her wild look or her gender is not that identifiable.Oh and last note: Does LEGO really remember purple??? -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Just add some notes to the final designs we've not seen before: Fencer- an expectable design, but it's not a lady? If so, there are still only five ladies in this series, sadly. "The other Samurai"- surprises me in a not so good way. Though a female Asian addition is good, I don't think a lady fit in this role, halfly due to Nya right there. Two Space warriors- better than I thought, but I seriously expect one of them to be a lady in this case, not being another example like the two miner guys from S12. King: A good reuse of the Fisherman beard with the fabulous crown headpiece. Cyclop Lady- okay, better than the Robot Lady. I'm fine with the lipstick. Many interetsing things make the whole series less like a rehashing. It's almost the same level with S12 but not the best series so far. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That headdress reminds me of someone..... but I assume that one is licnesed and not allowed to be used here. Same here. I regard this as a semi-special series since it doesn't really bother old fans that much. I know the main characters are very specific but they can still be modified as we want. The only pity could be that the other regular-CMF-like characters aren't able to enter the MMO world as the others do. The main reason behind this could be that LEGO determine to make most of the iconic characters, and they decide to make molded heads (urrrrh) so only CMF production line would allow them to realize this. The compatibility of skin color is a great advantage to MOC lovers, but still I wish the headpieces could also made to be compatible. -
Abit surprised to know that the ears are molded with the hairpieces. Excluding the ears, the ones are pretty similiar with Olivia and Sleepyhead. I'm not sure if making seperable ears is possible since that could be an economical way? So... the elf girl from 41075, who doesn't appear in the box art along with other main elves (who hold the elemental powers), would also use a new hairpieces along with them? Could it mean that she would also be a key character, or these hairpieces are going to represent generic elves?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well I agree with that in a commercial view, though to me some of the original TLM characters could also be used in regular themes or CMF series. And to be more strict, CMF series use many existed LEGO themes that not every FOL likes.I can't tell how the compensation mechanism works, but licensed blind bags have been here in the toy industry for a long time and weren't invented by LEGO. As long as they clearly know what they're doing, we don't need to care whether they'll sell them at loss. That doesn't say regular series have to disappear. But IMO as long as TLC is not adding their annual production lines, it would lead to that regular and special series must compete with each other and the result would definitely displease a certain group of FOLs. The only thing we know for sure is S13 would be after S12. I can see something different coming, but not just two special series in a row . -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Again, why not? More subthemes could diversify this theme. I think the main problem is that special series do "invade" the schedule, based on the fact we probably only get three series this year, if LEGO isn't actively adding the production lines and make s13 happen right in December. That should the main reason why special series aren't welcomed. As for existed LEGO themes, the main problem would be that TLG and plot writers have to come up with more than 10 characters/variations that aren't usable in regular sets. However unlike TLM, action themes heavily feature the vehicles from regular sets so I don't think a minifigure line works. I think regular City Police sets could have been a better place for those characters since that game were meant to promote that game. -
COBI has done Scooby products, but I think it's okay to see LEGO version. Whatever it should be a one-wave only license if true. The human character are not as cartoonic as Simpsons, so I don't think they need whole head molds. Guys would use generic male hairs while Daphne can use Elsa.S/Aurora's. Velma probably needs a new one.

Uh, we should know that Disney has been coooperating with every big name in this industry. That changes almost nothing unless Mattel MB or Hasbro KRE-O do begin to make any licesned toys for girls.Oh, and if Hasbro do please make their own MLP happen first .

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
K'Nex isn't the major problem, Though they're indeed a competitor of LEGO, they only make Super Mario products and don't touch the rest of Nintendo franchises. And still it's too early to discuss a product of a non-existed license. We may just say that future Ideas members could use these elf hats and hairpieces for a fan Zelda project. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think as long as it's available for a nonlicensed set, it can still be for another one in the future. I can see the both FM and the Goblin piece for a Castle/Fantasy/Elves set in the future, like the Fortune Teller's cas.The difference with the video game GG is that his ears weren't seperate. But would it take time before we can see other non-TASM Spiderman sets? -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I have mixed feelings about this. The two uneven buildings is very different, but also feels abit too modern. Expect to see some surprises in the interiors. We're getting two hair salon in the same season? And nice to see another police lady here, Not sure if the leftest guy is the detective some FOLs expect to see. -

Offtopic: not saying that I don't care about the King, if there is an option for seperating the hair from other molds, may I choose Simpsos? I think hair with hat is pretty much like a trend. LotR has given many figures like that. -

Nina! Offtopic, is that sheep a Duplo mold or a possible recolor lamb in 2015?Just like the previous leak pic, Unicorn Girl was the only leak in these issues and it should be intentional.
