  1. Based on how Emma's father looks like the minidoll version of the supervillain figure, although both don't really resemble Michael Shannon. Technically King Triton can help, but he's currently out of the LEGO world, too. It's rather a quiz than a funny. Oky must know the answer, though. After Batman's top secret was discovered, he manages to give a fightback by revealing Wyldstyle's true nature.
  2. In order to not make this topic going too far, here is special theme discussion and we could only discuss the possible additions to future LEGO products, or this has to be transferred to Multimedia forum.Licensed characters are mostly available already, although in the movie I expect to see another licensed lady get spotlights. Retunees from retired LEGO themes would interest more AFOLs, I think.
  3. Thanx again for the wonderful review! The transformations into regular minifigures are also interesting and helpful for customizers too. This series looks more promising than the last version, despite minor characters are inevitable in this series. The only pity could be Maggie's same outfit. We might just need the regular head with a new outfit so we may exchange the two parts, also could be used for an alternative baby character. I'm not really fond of Marge's lipstick in the physical print, while fine with her look in the cartoon. Marge's dress design looks abit too simplified to be fit on other regular minifigures (okay, I've been watching Project Runway so perhaps I'm too picky :p). Watching Edna with Fred just makes me sad, anyway....
  4. What are you guys talking about? The original pic looks like hard ABS and doesn't have back hole. It should be Hermione's, not Emma's.
  5. Uh, yeah, that's my personal wish, indeed, but it's not how specific characters and scenarios vary. Could El Macho Wrestler satisfy a kid who has been wanting a Superman figure? The new prints do give good choices to customizers, but they have nothing to do with Friends characters. My point is that why LEGO don't include minidolls in Junior sets if pink boxes are here for the "girls" that LEGO want to appeal. Despite the ideas of pink boxes sets are similiar with Friends', they don't directly relate to Friends based on figure types and images, The most relevant regular theme could only be certain Creator minifigure sets which occasionally introduce stores and playgrounds. So, unless LEGO do try to market Creator sets to girls (that's actually good because Creator should be a neutral theme), I don't think the pink boxes are helpful in introducing regular girls-oriented themes to younger girls. They are still pretty useful in other ways, though.
  6. Agree. Though the building experience is simplified, the parts are compatible and useful with regular sets. I understand that the bigger bricks may offense some proffesional builders, but I expect to see more kinds of big walls that can help designing bigger buildings too.The thing I'm concerned about is the "pink box marketing". It could be traced back to the earlier brick boxes, but the weird thing is that LEGO found that minifigures don't appeal girls so they use something else in girls-oriented themes, and now the pink box sets which are presumed to target at girls look just contradictory to that saying. Why no Junior version of Friends sets coming with Friends minidolls or minifigures? They had to give new prints, after all, and the result looks like a kind of waste of chance or favor.
  7. The Little Mermaid Updated This is a tricky issue. The only thing I'm not happy about Disney minidolls is their lack of expression. Minifigures were never meant to be realistic or slender, and they only represent an image of characters. Minidolls look more elaborate, it's simply for a different use. Some FOLs have opinions against waistlines drawn on torsos, so they probably wouldn't even accept giving minidolls to female characters, too. The other problem is, minidolls are made to be target at girls' market but not considered to represent any slender female character from all LEGO themes, which causes some visual conflicts between female minidolls&minifigures. Male minidolls are fine with me. The thing I don't really like the inaccurate hairpieces for Disney guys. Thanx! It's okay, everyone has different taste. I only try to add colors to their eyes but keep their dot shapes. I think it could be too much to make them Exo-force-like. Thanx for supporting. I think LEGO do keep making both minidolls and minifigures better in their own individual way. It could be better if LEGO try to remove the segregation by any kind of method. Interesting. Some of the characters could be good references for minidolls/minifigures although it's probably not considered to be made by LEGO.
  8. Well at least they could've given Maggie an alternative dress like the rest of her family, I believe. That's how I see the repetitive versions of Simpsons from the Mart set.
  9. I have a somewhat complex thought about a Frozen sequel. We've seen some continuation for Disney classics, but most only result in direct-to-video or TV series. I hope it's not just Frozen's own commercial case so that we could see more sequels for other Disney films with good potential, like Wreck-it-Ralph. Most princess stories draw a clear boundary that the romance part had made an end to the main story. Twist in Time was something that really jumped out of the box, but sadly it wasn't a theatrical film. Among the other princess-related stories, I think Pixar's Brave also has a good potential to continue. Both Merida and Elsa didn't have a romantic interest (though that doesn't say it could happen in a sequel) and I believe the world outside Dunbroch could have more things to tell (so could Southern Isles). However, Pixar might be a different case since they could make a sequel after decade, while Frozen sequel doesn't really ensure the chances for the older Disney films.
  10. The fact is, it's indeed difficult to ask for new characters in a regular set since CMFs already cost alot on the characters. Of course, I'd like to get it just for the store not the figs. It feels like that LEGO intend to keep the regular versions available in other ways. If no new prints are made, perhaps the fewer figs make the lower price, I hope.
  11. I must say this set is what almost everyone would like to see. It wins over most of the MOCs I've seen so far. The major shame is despite an exclusive character is included, sadly we couldn't see more recurring customers beside the Simpsons whose original versions were already in CMF series 1. If one of Sherri and Terri is in CMF series, the other one could fit better in the store set. Coming to CMF series, I truly like the formal dresses for the Simpsons, sadly it couldn't catch up for White Valentine. Maggie's same print is just too lazy in this case.
  12. I've menthioned that whether current LoTR appearing in the Staff Picks could conflict with the license LEGO was still working on (of course, now it almost ends so no conflicts ).Doctor Who was a classic example of an unfair game, but does other licenses that appeared in the Staff Picks are as powerful as those mentioned by the blog posts or the achieved projects? Also, meanwhile, I don't think Staff Picks really help increasing the amount of projects of a certain license, although Doctor Who is truly popular enough to get more projects than the others.
  13. Yes, almost like that, as I remembered. It's my personal thought, but I never feel like it's reasonable. My intention was to say that suppose that a singe toy is was appointed to be a gift to another owner, its relationship with other toys could be unable to keep going. Woody's accidents in the trilogy were mostly unintentional so think so far this series hasn't talked about this directly. The way I could think about is get out of control from human so there is no more "playtime" thing, but I'm not sure if this existed in the rule of TS toys. Like Woody and Andy's case, toys would care their owners' heart more than their toys' relationships. He would like to stay with Andy even if he has to seperate from Buzz and the others. (yeah... it does make sense why BP's existence would be strange again )
  14. I mean to see sophisticated heroines show brave actions that we usually don't expect her role to do so. In Brave's case, Merida was already described as a tough girl from the beginning despite she needs to maintain a traditional princess image during the story need. And just like you said, Disney Princess's are more well-known for this type of characters. The upcoming Inside Out would focus more on girl's viewpoints, but since it's idea is very different from traditional action animated films, not so sure if it'll provide us enough references or discussion to compare with other films.
  15. It's nice to see the content and the deepness of the story. The sequels could be more about the past of Elvendale and Emily's grandmother. The fifth element is also an interesting point to keep us wait. Of course there are commercial factors to determine its future. The thing I'm probably worried about is whether Elves could enlarge it's range of plays and story content if a sequel is born. The ideas mentioned in previous discussion are magical fightings (original Elves weapons instead of collectible keys next time), trading cards, opponents and threats against Elvendale, etc. My personal interpretation is, despite Emily has a whole new print design, the targeted girl FOLs already have tons of ordinary Friends characters and another ordinary modern girl could be less appealing. Elf characters with new parts and prints are more appealing in the current timing. Only after we had heard enough Emily's story and be interested in her character role could LEGO spend more time to promote her.And still, it's always good to lower down the amount of a certain minifigure so that we don't have to pay for repetitive figures. The main issue could be that this theme need more sucharacters to enable us to build an Elf army town. The previous Ninjago season was quite a loose end. Obviously its popularity has ensured its continuation and intended to leave everyone in short suspense. If the story permits, I'd like to see Elves go bigger with a longer chapter next time (not necessarily with more sets, but abit more storytelling). That pun sounds familiar...... or maybe Emily would have to learn to use the four elements instead. :pGreat, my local shelves are still empty today.
  16. I do kinda agree with the last statement . Just based on that TS3 already added some romantic elements, I don't see the problem with Woody's own love interest. In official statement, the main reason was presumed to be that the writers had no future plan for promoting BP anymore.I think there are many other ways to deal with BP's delicacy, being a pure damsel in distress is one (passive) way. And honestly, I don't really think we've seen any "feminine but brave" type heroines in Pixar's canon. Violet may count, but her potential is still born by nature. Back to the topic, as mentioned, TL3 had already included romantic scenes, however letting toys develop romantic or family relationships could be very tricky since these could be easily changed by their oweners decisions. Unless we're considering that the toys have the rights to enjoy their own private life, unlike the real-world case.
  17. I would rather want to know why this can't "continue, or at least, relate to the prequels based on that the universe has already included so many different toy brands and we could difinitely see a new story featuring a non-Andy toy, like Lotso or Zurg. This story title sounds like the prologue of 101 Dalmatians: two toys fell in love while their counterpart owners do, hope it's not the same old song. Also, based on how Pixar writers irritated loyal fans , I'm not sure if not letting the old toys return to play romance is a good thing.
  18. Not very surprised, although I think the Jungle story also deserves a long-length treat since that could allow a better budget for action scenes. A movie featuring idol sounds like some of those Disney ones based on their TV drama series. And following the Clutch Powers case, the "movie" would be more likely a direct-to-DVD one. Meanwhile I also worry about not having any episode for the current spring wave. It doesn't sound good for both not having one or having it late. About the singers and music videos, it feels like that those videos have bipolar opinions (judging from Youtube scores). I don't hate the songs, but it doesn't really feel like that the "girls" do have interests in LEGO toys. It could be better if LEGO toys are edited into these videos. I wonder if this recruitment is asking for the singers for Livi and four friends but not Andrea since she already had one in previous stories? But it also feels awkward to hire an unexperienced singer for Livi's role.
  19. The competition doesn't really need to work in that way. If it's about the production issue, now we've seen that the sets could be released in different timing when the production line isn't in use. It may conflict when ten projects in one review all pass, which is almost equal to a regular theme treat, but that wouldn't happen anyway.
  20. I kinda agree with your second point. But still there are many other potential factors that could not be written in the guideline. Some factors depends on timing and couldn't be written in the rules from time to time, like a license was forbidden but now allowed. For Frozen castle, it conflicted with an undeclared prodcuts but it didn't actually violate any rule. The only thing he was wrong about could be neglecting the possibility of a future official set based on Disney's longterm cooperation.I would expect that the review process do try to deal with the projects in order to turn these "unsuitable for actual products" ideas into "suitable". The size issue could be solved by simply cutting their size (unless the project makers insist on "the bigger the better"). Sadly the reasons for rejection are invisible so we couldn't know that whether these rejected ones could be improved.
  21. Thanx! I bet Elsa would keep appearing in the future as long as her club exist. LEGO Anna is still untouched, though. Well, it could hardly be done due to many reasons, one is that Anna is much more a common name (which is also why I wasn't sure if Disney gave a right name for the younger heroine) and the pun could be too obscure to ultilize in any form.I'd like to see Time Cruiser versus BTTF pun, though it's not like everyone has that in own collection.
  22. Wow, I didn't even know this news. First of all, I personally assume the Emmet's story and Finn's story as two different worlds of conciousness. They coexist, relate but wouldn't interact directly like Toy's Story is. We won't (probably) see Emmet shouting at Finn when he wants to abandon them or play in the way they dislike. My assumption is that Finn becomes indifferent about the toys when he enters the dark age. Then, his sister takes his place by getting the full control of Emmet's world (why Bricksburg is never the same), and meanwhile she monopolizes her father's attention that originally belongs to Finn. When Finn finds out that his sister's doings, he becomes jealous and autocratic like his father had been, which yet again makes dangerous impacts on the TLM storyline. Finn tears the TLM world into two realms which belong to him and the sister respectively. In the TLM storyline, Emmet needs to find out to reassemble the worlds. Week ago LEGO put some official things about Emma's family member in order to promote her family house set (but the most controversial part is that one of her family member doesn't even exist physically ). So, I don't think LEGO ever left a room for that setting. It's indeed weird for unrelated LEGO characters to share name traits, but it's not a rare case (ex, elf queen &; orange ninja). However, if LEGO deal with it like Wyldstyle being Batman's girlfriend, that is still possible anyway. In these waves, you should have probably seen the official animation videos for official LEGO sets advertisings ( ) which show the moving minidolls. Yes, NInjago cartoons had minifigures bend their legs but TLM tend to make these details more realistic, so we won't see minidolls bend their hands even if they appear in TLM2.Still, as I mentioned in previous topics, I think the main problem of minidolls' lacking is that "Friends/minidolls are not considered as a common being in the mainstream LEGO world." It could be safe to assume that Ninjago has minifigure citizens and Heartlake has minidolls only due to theme classifications. As for TLM, Bricksburg was meant to be a melting pot for all themes/figures to come across so we could see some minidolls live there are be brainwashed by Octan too. I believe that introducing minifigures of Friends should be a feasible solution for this particular case so that the movement problem is never in the discussion. However, if LEGO is willing to discuss the pratical problem of having minidolls in the LEGO world in TLM2, I would agree with that way too.
  23. I think there are difference between "counterparts" and real "rehashes". Cunterparts are always welcome. Some using the same mold with minor changes don't interest me too much. The Zombie Cheerleader is better than the Red Cheerleader in many aspects. The scientist is obviously not, too. Isn't it just good to see people from Research Institute have different personalities rather than just one kind of stereotyical scientist army there? And in the most passive aspect, the last rule of CMF series is that reintroducing characters help kids getting the minifigures from earlier series they couldn't get. Although in this case, I'm not sure if kids are able to obtain the previous Monster Fighters figures in this year.
  24. Indeed. That hat is bothering for minidolls. Bakery sets from Friends didn't use that too. In that standard, I don't think the holiday elves from Santa's Workshop needed the ears. :p I'm not really sure about having two colors for Farran hairstyle in the same wave instead of just recoloring an old elf hairpiece for the diversity of the related characters, although it does give a favor to some MOCs.
  25. I feel like part of the main building has inconsistent styles, but the idea is still very lovely. Expect to see more little holiday elves things!
