LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I can definitely see that this hair mold wasn't really made for this guy but some other storywise or licensed characters in plan. Doesn't look like Larry's case whose hairpiece is only given to Howard after quite a time. -
How Many Have Completed CMF Series?
Dorayaki replied to Boettner Builds's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm shameful enough to admit that I didn't try to collect all of them ever since the beginning. Only 3 from Series 1 actually appealed me, but I admire TLG's intention and I must say that more and more designs from later series look so attrative that I wanna collect them all. I mostly collect figures that look original enough to be in any theme. Simpsons characters are very specific for normal FOLs' tastes. As for TLM series, I still think the master figures look more like a part of regular series so "regular fans" didn't really have to skip TLM series on purpose. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A reminder again, it's has own topic in License forum and please keep in-topic for the regular series in this threadWhile Disney series is not totally confirmed, as long as "minifigure series" the franchise logo is kept for minifigures only, we won't see minidoll appear in CMF series until one day LEGO decide to do a new branch called "collectible minidoll (aka CMD?)" or officially mix minidolls and minifigures together in futher series or themes. -
Just want to know how many of them LEGO would involve in (sigh)

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The thing should be noticd is that retro themes don't look like good choices for themed series. We've known TLM series which was based on that film, that is an example not only the theme is special, but the series was binded with a regular set wave.Every regular CMF series already gave us the CMFs that represent the retro LEGO themes. If we want a whole series to only include one retro theme, to me that sounds abit... boring? It's not a theme idea, but sounds rather like a golden-egg goose. Regular series is good because it can include characters that don't come from any specific theme. In conclusion, I think themes for single CMF series would better be original themes or cooperation with TV/movie series promotion. Considering that TLG is probably lacking ideas, I don't expect them to milk their ideas again. Actually, the themed series and licensed series are good spices for me. It's just that the regular series minifigures become fewer and fewer and LEGO don't have a good plan for that. Simpsons was controversial because it came in a row of two.My personal suggestion is there should be four series every year. Two of them are regular, so that every two regular series can insert a special series. There is a topic in license forum and the replies should be there. Be alitttle offtopic here, despite both StarWars and Superheroes have a good character database, LEGO would more likely keep all of them in future regular sets so they don't need CMF series to complement their lack of characters. That means, some other licenses that don't have regular sets (or don't fit in regular sets) would relatively have a good chance. -
Lego Minifigures Series 15 Guessing Game
Dorayaki replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
> 1. Zombie Footballer Kinda abit too late if CMF series 14 is done. .. any other new zombie transformation in a normal series would be abit too trival, just IMO. > A teacher (with a calculator or ruler as an accessory)- The minifigures need to be educated as well. Like Heartlake High case, I'd like to a school set instead so that teachers have a place to teach. :p Nice findings. Some are very clever thoughts. Marionette sounds great but not sure how the strings get phyisical. -
Not sure if I should say it but..... since we have a centered Dimensions Fun Pack thread and there is no ensurance for regular sets (to Ideas voters' dismay), is an independent thread appropriate?

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
Dorayaki replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
That's abit debatable. Even for Simpsons, I don't think LEGO really try to milk this license by making more iconic buildings, suppose that we won't see more Simpsons CMF.As for Disney, uh, that would go back to theDisney Princess issue since it is still somewhat a regular theme but arguably not giving some minifigures. Of course, if that theme doesn't really have plans for some other non-girls-oriented stories, hopefully we can see some like Sleeping Beauty Castle or Clubhouse. Only if it can release more than one set. Before possible LEGO entry, this is a sad fact that LEGO Channel originals are still blooming and obviously most of them are too minor to enter some Disney's major crossover like their own Disney Infinity, hence their chance to be in LEGO sets or CMF series is similarly small. The only part that is relevent with LEGO would be the cancellation of Phineas's Games set.- 4,155 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Imagine that your wanted character only has one chance to be in the upcoming series, and if you miss it, you have to wait for one more year for another chance.... that sounds not so good to me. And I kinda wonder if kids are able to keep up with the collection if it's interval is too long? Some of the ideas like new zombies of old characters were pretty exclusive to a Monster series. I believe there are monsters that don't belong to the Halloween range, though maybe Series 15 would temporarily skip these in order to sell all series 14 bags out. -
So far, the titles sounds like the dragons would follow the elemental path just like Ninjago and their elf counterparts. Maybe pink would be applied to a fire dragon cub, not the big one .
-
Why is that? Elves is great, though different from the Castle we knew. You can regard it as a fantasy version of Castle. That kinda reminds me if we'll see more elf characters for the next chapter. Hopefully some senior elves like teachers and merchants are ensured to appear.
-
Uhmm... since it's Junior, hopefully we can see a better Carriage large mold so that it can be more accurate than the previous version.
-
Thanx for clarify . But generally, I think the lack of LEGO's own franchise in the first installment would be more about existed themes rather than newly introduced themes, although the newly introduced licenses proves that LEGO doesn't really follow that rule. In Friends case, they've been established almost as long as Ninjago characters, that pretty much explains why the Friends characters would be competent for this game as well. I'd also like to see Elves' entry, though there's not too much to tell in the first wave so far, same for some othe possible future action themes. No specific reason shows that minidolls have to involve, though just in the game aspect, the game does allow multiple kinds of figures. I'd rather wonder if BIONICLE and Mixels' entries would be ensured. As for LEGO City, suppose that we refer to Undercover, again, the game map would be a problem since the whole LEGO City map was almost ultilized in that game and doing it again in Dimensions would lack some freshness. Characters-only packs would be the only solution.

I think TMNT being held by MegaBlocks doesn't seem to directly influence LEGO Dimensions since TMNT or Nickelodeon are not actually doing "toys-to-life" video games to become a competitor just like Disney Infinity. However, yes, there could be indirect influences. Perhaps, letting TMNT/Spongebob showing up in any more LEGO mediaworks would be against MB's own advertising effects and that doesn't make sense. > the franchise should have some sort of "extraordinary" or "fantastic" adventure component. Franchises about regular, normal, real-world things probably won't fit the game's "heroic adventure" milieu I'm pretty against about that. Friends pretty lack the chances to prove "girls can do everything" spirit, even fight the evils that come from outerspace", this might be as much as other ordinary characters from licensed themes. Even within those action themes or licenses, Emmet and Marty are pretty much normal guys themselves, so why not the others? I believe it only depends on how developers do the characters in the game. I believe Big Bang guys would be great additons to the game as well as other Ideas-related licenses. Additonally, as pointed recently, Friends' absense means a waste of chance for tons of playable female characters. I think this kinda affect female gamers' market despite LEGO games would have held a better chance to hit that market. The main concern could be the "game map" thing. Heartlake would be a good map IMO, but as for Big Bang, not pretty sure. This could only depend on whether future Fun Packs have to connect with an unlockable world or not. I believe that some of the unheard LEGO licenses that don't conflict would be reserved for future expansions, so I don't really worry for Harry Potter or Hobbit heroes.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
To me, I think a mixed series should have a good proportion of different themes. It's determined by LEGO and only when it's a themed series do TLG incline to make lots of minifigures from the same theme. If that's true, what I think is that we still have several CMF series every year but LEGO would only do ONE normal series every year from now on....? I really liked some of the themed series, but still wouldn't really be happy if we have fewer chances to get the generic figures that can only be found in normal series... one chance per year is kinda.... -

REVIEW: 71010 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14

Of course . But that reminds me there is only one glowing figure in this series? I thought the witch or the skeleton costume would be, too. -
REVIEW: 71010 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14
Dorayaki replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Useful as always, thanx Whitefang! I understand why the main theme is black again, but still expect to see a whole new color in the next round (you know what I mean). The back instruction looks more clear, it's nice for kids who never touched cape pieces and almost ruin them for the first time. > In LEGO context, this is actually the fourth re-release of Werewolf character Uhmm.. although I beilieve there are differences, I would expect to see a comparison photo between the two. > 3) The mad Monster Scientist WOW. Just wow. I love the additional head mold transformation. Sadly we can't physically apply this head to other characters to see how everyone gets bigger head. > 6) The stunning Fly Monster More stunning in the photo.... love the transparent eye. > Return my wings to me Ha! > 14) The screaming Banshee Uhmmm... I feel abit complicated. Although the design is my favorite in this series and transparent parts are nice (especially the lower part), I wish LEGO to make her fully transparent,. I do like this series overall and it's indeed a great addition to Monster Fighters and some othe themes that lack quirkiness and fun. Despite this series is truly attractive to me, my personal doubt (perhaps also most FOLs' question) is whether it would lead to the decrease of normal CMFs every year. Just hope that we can see some solution next year so that awesome extraordinary and ordinary minifigures won't conflict with each other. -

CUSTOM: LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series "Universe"
Dorayaki replied to Dorayaki's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Clutch, as well as Brick, is not my main target since they can be achieved with existed molds. Still, say a sorry if you expect to see them here. My choice is abit too arbitory, of course . I'd consider to make other bad guys like Baron next time if most opinions think so. It's sad, but I agree with most of your points. Belville, yes, this is kinda relunctant I admit. IMO, I think the truth is that LEGO now devotes to do licensed princess's rather than introducing original princess themes, much like that any Superhero must come from Marvel or DC. Duplo had made some original princess figure before, but now they also focus on the Disney heroines (which sucks because Warnar Bros hates Disney and Elsa is not playable in Dimensions). Overall, what I mean is expecting to see a princess view in any future Castle revival since LEGO is willing to introduce Belville-like minifigures. In the canon part, I think LU only used some references but is the most original theme among these examples. While TLM also had many LEGO references, its own world is very independent, much like how LEGO Dimensions gives its own map. Clutch Powers shows to be the least original crossover, and I agree with you that Clutch Powers' original intention was more like to promote those mentioned regular themes, not the protagonists themselves. But it kinda missing the point since the character design was too eye-catching, as much as Wyldstyle and Emmet, just as if they would have been a good commercial case with physical tie-in products. Actually I wonder why LEGO didn't just use the Agent viewpoint for this story but choose to do the LEGO Organization setting. Obviously they don't think LO is useful in any further Agent theme or crossover. Just like you say, the current children who watched TLM are pretty young, not knowing too much LEGO history, and the original LU players are not the targeted consumers anymore. It's never the most feasible plan to ask a toy company to promote a discontinued theme no matter whether it's physical or not. But IMO, beside the sad fact that those mdia stories didn't get physical figure tie-in, the more important fact is that LU and other themes aren't even mentioned in later themes/media. As long as other old references like Johnny Thunder are permitted, they could be, too. It's more like LEGO consider them a "black history" that they even don't want to notice common audience, which is the main reason why LU fans feel offensed (as much as current Friends fans feel). Since TLM is a free viewpoint of a kid and Dimensions is all about breaking the border, it wouldn't lack sense if any LU character suddenly make appearance. Perhaps there is a day when TLM would actually be forgotten and a new media crossover story would replace it to attract kids, this is something that had happend in Disney, DC or Marvel crossovers. Just in the current view, I'm unhappy with the fact that the new media stories totally ingore these non-physical themes while keep favoring some of the other themes with lots of tie-in's. We don't have to bring the whole LU game back (it's abit too radical, as you say), but I believe that they're significant enough to be the references for other LEGO themes and crossovers. They may still have a chance to get physical products if chances permit. And finally, I think my opinion about Friends is correct. The cooperation between products and cartoon is not very strong, or not as successful as Ninjago series. Hope that future Friends sets can justify this.- 17 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hope so. Don't tell us there is a sport-themed series, that wouldn't be better than the Monster series . -
About the new minifigures... in the confirmed list, it looks like that we don't really get new characters from the returning themes? At most only new hairpieces for Peter and DocBrown (that's remarkable, though). I still keep my hope in future expansions. Almost sounds like my voice. Yeah, not just LEGO Dimensions, the main concern I have about the girls' themes is that LEGO is not giving a place for girls in most kinds of LEGO crossover media they've done. That's kinda disturbing when LEGO still want to keep them popular among the targeted girls simultaneously. And most important, as you said, Heartlake City would be a great addition to the world maps. Crossover between Elves and LotR also sound pretty fun.Among the licenses part, I believe that Oz is pretty much a girls-friendly license, as much as Portal which features the sole heroine. But for now, these still seem to be inenough for the character roster. Hope that this can be solved in further expansions...

Disney Princess 2016 Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Amazing Bricks's topic in LEGO Licensed
The problem among the "pets" from previous sets was that they're not accurate enough. It felt like they were forced to be cast in the molds that Friends introduced, not even with accurate prints. Weirdly, the Disney Palace Pets looked more similiar with the existed Friends animal molds but LEGO didn't choose to utilize that similarity at first. Now Palace Pets sets make sense, however...... Yes, this is the thing much to my concern. I'm not sure if the direction is right yet. Palace Pets aren't something innovative to me, unless they'll introduce some other animals we've never seen (peacock and elephant, these can be awesome). Generally new story themes with new pratogonists should be more significant to us. -
Just imo, athough dragons are seldom heard in girls' themes but we've got them from LEGO (either brickbuilt ones from Ninjago or whole ones from Castle). That means adult dragons are not something innovative to FOLs. So in this case, the dragon babies might be rather expectable. Of course, if TLG can bring back the adult dragon molds and give them Elve's color paletter design, some parent-kid pairings can be nice too.

I still hope to see more from PotC. As for classic Pirates, yes, looks like it better serves as a replacement when other themes don't have pirate things so that we can get pirate ships every year.
