Yeah, having to make a day-long trip (to Essen, Germany) is not exactly ideal. I suspect the same issues that cause the massively increased prices are to blame, whatever they may be.

Onua is basically a dwarf. A dwarf is supposed to look like part of a mountain fell on them. But yeah, I generally prefer having larger villains. Heroes tend to be boring. However, sometimes it can lead to gems like Onua. I think I would like to see the price slots switched around annually, so that we can see how LEGO handles a bulky design in the $15 size or a speedy-looking one in a $20 size. But a main villain should always occupy a high price slot, higher than standard heroes. Even if they're small, a high price slot allows a designer to incorporate things integral to the character, and while heroes get several story arcs to flesh out their characters, villains barely get one. Might as well emphasize it in the set.

I spent like ten minutes wondering which Protector PoV stood for. It helps that I read it as "the story of the PoV".

The protector format would be easier to accommodate than the much wider variety seen in the Toa. So yeah, I also want to see Boxor-esque vehicles for the Protectors. Preferably built mostly out of CCBS. A few bone pieces could make a perfect roll cage. At a $30 or $35 pricetag, this could work quite well. And it'd be nice to see a matoran/Protector character get some more attention for once. Ekimu doesn't count, considering the fact that he's basically Mata Nui, Arthaka and Takanuva all rolled into one.

Or even a submarine. It would interesting to see a classic tube-shaped submarine design in Ninjago. Although, what with the sky pirates thing, that would probably make even less sense than some of the other ideas I've had.

The Morro Dragon ($70, if I remember correctly), the Titan Mech Battle ($55, ditto) and, if you can spare the extra $5, the two exclusives (the Chain Cycle Ambush and the Jay Walker One, $30 and $40 respectively). Otherwise, just get the Chain Cycle and maybe the Blaster Bike.

Personally, I like to think of Korgoth as being a bit of a gun nut. Unless you really, really like miniguns, you're probably not going to build one into your own body.

Bingzak is Tiribomba levels of ridiculous. But I'm happy about Korgot. She is also the only one with a halfway sensible name, although I think adding an h at the end there would help.

I was actually just listing the tr. colors that I thought had a chance to appear in sets. For reasons that have been discussed before, tr. red is unlikely. Tr. pink is unlikely for fairly obvious reasons. And when I said tr. dark green, I meant tr. green.

I'm hoping for tr. smoke/tr. black/whatever you want to call it. Also, I've noticed that there are only a few translucent colors we don't have bone pieces in: tr. blue (the regular kind, not the weirdly pale tr. light blue), tr. yellow, tr. clear, tr. smoke and tr. dark green.

just2good always seems to know about future sets. I think I heard that that was due to retailer catalogs.

He's a very sinister personality indeed . At any rate, I would prefer fully transparent masks, if only so that we could have a tr. purple Mask of Earth

Bionicle Skull Villain Alternate Builds
DraikNova replied to TheOneVeyronian's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I like the new modded version. Sure, normal scorpions have legs as thin as the actual set, but considering the fact that this thing is human-sized, it would need larger legs. I'm just bothered by how the inside halves of the claws look larger than the talon-piece outside halves. -
Oops, sorry. It's in the ninth or tenth one of the Possession season, as a ten-second cameo.
-
Sometimes I really wonder whether the designers even now the difference. It could even be because some kids think that anything with a carapace has to have six legs and will consider anything else, even if it's accurate, wrong. I hope it's just because of budget limitations.
-
This is the Skull Villain with the best colors, that's for sure. He also has my favorite torso print, but still, there's something lacking about this set. I think it's the weird way the arms stick out of the torso, which, while probably necessary to let the function work properly, is still very annoying.

Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion
DraikNova replied to MakutaOfWar's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Ahem. Not hard at all, significantly more fun than building with G1 parts, and far larger than I could have done in G1, yet still light enough for me to carry easily. Also, the jet machine was mostly technic (I thought you were talking about Rocka's Brain Attack vehicle, which actually at least has a titan price tag, as opposed to Furno's Jet Machine), Scorpio actually looked pretty good, and about 50% of all large G1-style MOCs I've seen are utter megablocks. Sure, there are a few good MOCs with the G1 system, but most of them are pretty ugly. See, two can play at this game. And I'm more accurate, too. -
If it weren't for the lack of coherence between the awesome-looking bulky grabber tail and the more sleek body, this would have been a great set. With a bit of modding to bulk up the torso and make it a bit more black and add a little more tr. neon to the tail, this could look very nice. I do think it's worth mentioning that scorpions have eight legs (and one pair of claws), not six ("He has six legs and a set of claws, so at least he has the right amount of limbs for a scorpion"). So yeah, that's not accuracy.

A shoutout doesn't mean the storyline of LEGO Atlantis happened on Ninjago. Maybe just someone wearing an Atlantis helmet or a brief cameo by one of the creatures. It could even just be a name. And anyway, there are sixteen realms. We only know of two islands on the planet Ninjago takes place on. Also, I think the idea of an eel-dragon that I mentioned in the "Future of Ninjago" topic has relevancy.
-
Also Nya, although that's more of a new color combination.
-
Personally, I think we'll get a mix of pirates and underwater creatures in the first half of the year, and some giant underwater monster (I'm thinking some sort of amalgamation of shark, octopus and pirate) as the main villain for the second half. Also, an Atlantis shoutout in the show or the set descriptions. I would love to have the Skulkins make a comeback, but I can't really see how they would do that, considering that they have pretty much become peaceful and integrated into Ninjago's culture. So yeah, I'm guessing either plain pirates, half-animal pirates (a nice way to reintroduce that lovely squid leg piece, perhaps in purple or blue) or a mix of the two.
-
It'd be impossible to fit the into a polybag. It'd need a $10-sized set at least. And the sheer amount of recolors would push the price up to $20.
-
Usually it's best to make sure that when you link a file you're using an online location, not something on your computer.
-
Oh megablocks. I really had hoped that we wouldn't get a pirate theme, but that very official-looking pirate flag (with the nice touch of a straw hat) looks pretty convincing. I hope they have a nice mix of ships and sea-monsters. There's no way we'll get what I would really love (and what we got this year): villian backup consisting almost exclusively monsters.

Great, after seeing the season finale, I really want to see So yeah, a challenge here for anyone who is good at microscale or wants to learn how to make microscale MOCs. And another scene to go in my planned Ninjago temple thingy.
