I really like this little caravel, great job with the gold touches and the red sails really set the rest of the colors off nicely! -

Bouncing frog? Love the name! Great figurehead too, and a really nice ship! -
Thanks! Thank you! Thanks Professor Thaum! Thanks Ayrlego! Yes, didn't have time the night I've posted but it's licensed now! Uncle's kids were the reason I entered this challenge, I can't wait to write more of their adventures! Thank you! I've got the next build done, so look out for it in a few days! Here are some pictures of the build without minifigures!

Wow Gunman, this is really amazing! All the work you put into it definitely shows, tremendous size, and amazing amount of details! I love your market place and the inn is spectacular too. The cheese slope roofs are awesome and the idea of building a balcony into the cliff face was brilliant! So much to enjoy about this MOC, great work!

Fantastic interior man, I love the use of those clip pieces on the walls! The furniture and piano are great too, and of course the chimney - great job incorporating an actual hidden compartment! And the doors are just amazing! P.S. You thief! Beware, Uncle is not one to let himself be robbed with impunity!

When Guy's Uncle sleeps, he sleeps. This trite fact was the dormant cause of a most dire misfortune. Six thousand solid gold doubloons, stashed in a secret receptacle of Uncle's chimney, vanished. Six thousand doubloons is not a sum that can simply be lost with impunity. And Uncle found himself under the necessity of hitting up on some way of reducing his expenses. Retrenchment, however, was not a popular theme in Uncle's household. Uncle, you must know, has quite a quantity of children. So many, in fact, that he hardly ever gets the number right when he's trying to tell someone else how many there are. At any rate, there are more than enough to make for a sizable grocery bill, and a few other sizable and not so necessary bills as well - not so necessary, that is, from Uncle's point of view. But the same brains that propelled the MCTC to the top under his guidance, would hit upon the perfect solution to this dilemma as well. He was lying awake in bed one night (he'd found it hard to drop right off to sleep since the robbery) when the answer hit him right between the eyes. He'd take his eldest - and most expensive - children just where they had been begging to go - orchid grubbing on Celestia. Why anyone cared at all to search for some flower was quite beyond him, but life would be cheaper out in the colonies, and he could get Elaine to introduce a few reforms at home. And who knew? If they found this fabled orchid, perhaps his fortunes would take a turn! And thus it came to pass that Guy's Uncle, the most practical of the practical, the most sensible of the sensible, found himself on Celestia searching for a - place to live. Orchid hunting was in fact more complicated than he had thought. But at last, he found the perfect place. As he said to his children when they gaped at his choice, "If we're going to do this, we're going to do this right." The expedition consists of Uncle, his two oldest and one other who refused to be left behind. Uncle's eldest child is a boy - no, allow me to rephrase that. Uncle's eldest child is a very cool young man. His name is Vance. Next in the line-up comes Amira. Also cool. It was Elaine who named those two. Uncle took the naming into his own hands after that, but, sadly, the damage had already been done. So despite highly sensible names like Bob and Anne, he kept on getting cool children, and a corresponding price tag. In fact, as kids will sometimes do, his younger children took the cool thing to an even farther extreme. Witness Bob, third member of the expedition. And so, Uncle's adventures on Celestia have begun ------ Another picture: And that's all, folks! I'm afraid I watched a movie tonight instead of finishing my Category C, but you'll probably see it in the near future as I continue the story arc! C&C welcome! This definitely took a long time to build, pretty happy with how it turned out, not happy with the overview pictures I managed to take. I have quite a few pictures without minifigures but my connection is going really really slow right now, so even doing this much was a pain! But I hope you enjoy it!

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Kai NRG replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Welcome to the guilds, Imic! -
Well, my entry(ies) won't be ready until well into the afternoon anyways, but I'll just leave it up to the court anyways, it was my bad - I had actually made a note of it as the 30th, but just kept thinking of it as "the end of the month." It's fine with me however it goes, my main motivation for this challenge is a cast of characters I've got for it, and that can carry over beyond the deadline anyways. Though of course it would be nice to compete! Besides tbh an extension for those of use that didn't notice is hardly fair for those who did and rushed to be done in time. So don't feel like you've got to bend the rules for me!

Oh wait... the deadline is tonight? And I was sure it was tomorrow... well, might just be posting a few story builds then.

["A Safe Haven" Challenge, Cat. A] The City of Bandari
Kai NRG replied to Henjin_Quilones's topic in Guilds of Historica
It's indeed a novel idea, and its hard to please everyone with something brand new! Like I said from some angles it looks good, but as a whole it comes across to me as a bold but not entirely successful move. Personally I think it just needs some refinement (something to break the angle vs. angle of the roof and walls, and take away the falling wall look it has in some cases), but it's not to be expected that one would strike on the best of the genera at the first try. Anyways, it boils down to my likings vs. someone else's, and (to paraphrase) a MOC that satisfies its creator need satisfy no one else! And regardless of whether or not I think slanted walls the best architectural choice, it still remains a great MOC!- 19 replies

I'm very impressed with how utterly hollow and one-sided this is! Hats off to you sir, I know how tricky it can be to build just the right amount for that! Great job achieving an old ruined feel! -
Eslandola Colonial Council, Second Cycle, 618, IN SESSION
Kai NRG replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Jalape stood up and cleared his throat a little nervously before addressing the council. "O' course," he began, "we canna take definite steps wi'out hearin' frae Bastion, sae be that they ha' an explanation o' their attack. But as pirates, o' one form o' t'other, ha' been tha plague o' the Brick Seas these many years, I believe cooperation wi' tha Corries in tryin' to eradicate tha plague would do muckle good to both our nations, and harm only to our enemies." Having said all this without pausing for breath, he sat promptly down again, glancing around to gather the effect of his speech.- 207 replies

["A Safe Haven" Challenge, Cat. A] The City of Bandari
Kai NRG replied to Henjin_Quilones's topic in Guilds of Historica
This is a great build, I really love all the cheese slope arches, not to mention the roofs, especially the pyramid one on the tower! Bold move slanting the walls, but I think I'll have to go with Titus, I'm not sold on it. From some angles it works, from other angles it just messes with the eyes and looks confusing. I think a flat or battlemented roof would have made more architectural sense. Nonetheless a really good build with so many different details and areas to stare at! Great work!- 19 replies
