  1. It's awesome how many rooms you've got in this MOC and all chock full of details! I really like the kitchen but the dining/council room also looks great! The little swamp outside deserves a mention too as does that slanted log. Good work!
  2. And here's what you've all been waiting to see... 1st place prize! So what are you waiting for... get those entries in!
  3. After quite a bit of brainstorming as to what would make a good GoH themed trophy, I settled on a map of Historica. It proved a bit of a challenge... Yes, it would have been nice to write Book III Challenge III First Place Winner, along with the full date, but that struck me as a little long. I tried to recreate iconic sorts of buildings for each guild. My apologies to the Mitgardians who just got a beacon but my attempt at a Jarl's hall ended up way too big. Historica is a bit of an inconvenient shape (for a rectangular trophy... my bad I guess) and I didn't quite know where Varlyrio is but I put it off the west coast of Kaliphlin on @Garmadon's authority. I hope the winner will enjoy the trophy... and a word to the wise... there may be something interesting inside... Fairly happy with how the build turned out and I'm thinking about making instructions (since, for once, it all sticks together). Would there be any interest in that? Would there be any interest if the instructions were... uh... not free? C&C welcome! As long as you don't just want me to stick cool pieces on it so you can win them, this MOC will be sticking around so I could theoretically make some changes if anyone is bursting with suggestions!
  4. Wow, Mophet is really growing by leaps and bounds! This is a great wall segment, and the details packed into the MOC sell it. I particularly like the twisty trees and the use of olive on that tower but the leopard cage is also really neat!
  5. I know the feeling! Yes? Or sort of. I mean Jay seems sane but not when it comes to deer. And yes, I am very curious as to the tragedy in his backstory and I can see how that could explain a chunk of his behavior. But at the end he *seems* reasonable enough, so it would be easy to take his deer vendetta as partly humorous, partly natural annoyance and a bit of Dee Doggedness, if it weren't for the extreme length he was at to punish Olivia for her interference. That is, I could totally see Jay in his role as angry hunter dragging her along and even forcing her to kill the deer herself, but he was more verbally brutal than I would have expected, given that in all other contexts he seems to care somewhat... Hmm, I had taken for granted that it was a lot more significant, but partly because I have no idea if the logical goal built into Olivia and Elise's background would take them back to their (extended?) family or not. It's always tough to know how much biography to explain at the beginning, since you want to keep some for later but at the same time not confuse the reader! On the whole, for starting in the middle of the story this was remarkably cohesive. for that!
  6. I also read the whole thing and liked it in the main, Ross may have a point with pushing things a little too far--given that Olivia was clearly not handling it well. More specifically, although he wasn't cruel objectively, he seemed utterly careless as to what she was feeling--strange given his subsequent conduct. If she had expressed it less it might have been more believable that he wouldn't let himself see that what he was doing went beyond the bounds of a mean joke. A couple of the last few installments felt a little slow or maybe it was just that I didn't appreciate all the references to pineapple when there wasn't any in the house for me to eat. Also if this is ever meant to be stand alone you need just a sentence or two at the first mention of the girls making it clear that Olivia and Elise are Jay's guests (it's a little confusing to be unsure of the relative positions for several segments), and then at some point an explanation of why they're his guests instead of someone else's, and lastly a sentence or two somewhere toward the end which makes it clear why going to King's Harbour is a pleasure for the girls - I assume either they have relatives there, or are going to take a ship to meet relatives - a joyful exclamation from one girl to another could explain.
  7. Don't know if I mentioned this before about this MOC but I really like that cut-away lily pad! Definitely need to use that myself someday. The dark green on the floor complements the dark tan really well and the stone wall separating the pasture from the road looks very natural!
  8. Neat nine-sided pavilion, not a number of sides we see frequently! Great use of that blue Chima banner!
  9. More pictures are up now as promised! Thanks Garmadon, glad the edit was so convincing!
  10. Angry coconuts plus crazy banana = palm tree. I love it. The coconut transformation took me totally by surprise!
  11. Thanks adde! This is one of my best brickbuilt skies for sure, turned out better than I could have expected so maybe I'll do more in the future!
  12. 7 - 1 point 8 - 1 point 11 - 1 point
  13. 6 - 1 point 11 - 1 point 13 - 1 point
  14. You turned this set into a work of art and still kept opening interior functionality. The round windows were the best part of the set and you aced them, and then the floor you did for the interior is so much better than the original there's no comparison! I really like the hanging weapons too, and the lighted forge sets a beautiful atmosphere. Really good job on the swamp too! All in all a really solid entry.
  15. You sure didn't pick an easy one! Good use of some surprising colors; I really like the insets on the dark tan pillars and it's cool how you made it look like a set!
  16. Love the mean, swooping look of the buggy! Great job on the photo edit there too.
  17. This is quite a mech, smooth job with the mech's outfit, if I can call it that - great integration of the cow catchers into a neck... uh... thing! Impressive poseability too!
  18. Cool to see another take on this set/scene! I like how you improved on the original with the broader steps (something I didn't manage!) and the roofs between each story. The studded door is a nice touch too!
  19. Great take on this scene! It's always been one of my favorite short bits, and you did a good job capturing the feel of the scene with the desert landscape and those boulders behind, not to mention that scraggly tree on the left! The roof of the 'shaw looks great too.
  20. I liked the original mech a lot and this is a great upgrade! The dynamic poses really sell it!
  21. Very smooth upgrade to this set, I really like the snake-dropping function and those twisted pillars are a great touch!
  22. The size of this window is toweringly impressive, great job with the slightly smaller round sections. Great use of purple leaves too, I didn't know they came in that color!
  23. Thanks! 'Twas a pain, especially toward the top. Thanks Exetrius! I must say it isn't exactly supposed to be considered microscale, but you are not the only person who has mistaken it for such. I was hoping the minifigures and seagulls would help dispel the illusion but apparently not. Yeah, I was trying to blend the colors of the set with the shape of the original and it may not have worked for everyone. Anyway I almost made the stairs and rock another 8 studs higher, but that part of the stairs fell off and I didn't notice until they were already attached. So we had a narrow escape from an even tinier lighthouse!
