[COR-TROOP] New Recruits in Wullham
Kai NRG replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Those white hats are pretty nice! Where are they from? -
Eslandola Colonial Council, 621, IN SESSION
Kai NRG replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Esterhazy de Troir stood up from the MCTC bench. "There's a lot to be said against Oleon's behavior, but let's remember that it's not our business as a government to spank them when they get out of line. As individuals, we're all ready and willing to help our oppressed friends in Terraversa, but taking steps against Oleon as a nation is a grave matter that must be discussed calmly. We applaud our fellow Eslandians who have already taken steps for relief of the wounded, and even sending mercenaries to help Terraversa is a decision we are happy to leave to each Eslandian, but becoming involved as a nation is a huge responsibility. "And in the heat of the moment, let's be sure not to take short-term measures for success that will prove to be long-term disasters. As Lord Damaximus is thinking--" ("How do you know what Lord Damaximus is thinking?" Chef Jalape hissed. "Super futuristic technology that I don't have time to explain right now," Esterhazy said.) "--as Lord Damaximus is thinking, seizing Oleon property that was acquired within our borders in good faith, is an act that may benefit us in the short run, but in the long run could do irreparable damage to our public image." -

Esterhazy de Troir and Chef Jalape from the MCTC delegation enter the hall in deep debate. Everyone thinks they're discussing the situation in Terraversa, but actually they're saying, "Hang the calories, everything tastes better fried!" and "But you have high cholesterol, you'll end up dying of a heart attack--mark my words!" -
That waterfall is really getting to me. Why have I never built a waterfall into a mansion before? Must not be smart enough... I also like the subtle off grid of the 2x2 jumpers, and nice use of those large stickered pieces too!

Another great fort, this one has some really nice angles! -
[GOC-FB-COR] Fort Stockton, Wullham
Kai NRG replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is very nice - pleasing choice of colors, great angles on the fort wall (really neat use of lavender, I am definitely making a note of that!), and an impressive amount of soldiers standing around in different positions. The facade on the fort is also really well done.- 15 replies

[OL-FB] Repaying the Loyalty of Nola Mar Part 1
Kai NRG replied to CapOnBOBS's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is neat, I really like the curved turrets. The yellow going around the cannons looks great! -
I really like what you did with the top of the roof here. Nice angle between the sloped part and the center (no idea why I like it so much ). Pink flowers are a great touch, together with the sheep they make it look very peaceful!

Nice job on this build, the light blue is lovely and both the fountain and little cemetery are well done. Also great use of those micro figures with capes - looks so Oleondish! (Maybe not the intention but it does. )

Having gotten stuck behind cows many times myself when I wanted to get somewhere, I appreciate the humor here, especially on the faces of the soldiers! Great design for the sheep!

The Conquering Hero Returns in Triumph
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks Captain! -
I really like that you set the house and bridge at an angle, it makes the scene much more visually interesting! Impressive job integrating that lower roof, I know from experience those kind of angles are a pain. Also a great tree!

For some reason I really like the spindly snow covered tree - it looks like it's met this dragon before. The articulation and pose on the dragon are also really nice, and I love the attention to detail with the tilt of the boat!

Chapter IChapter IIChapter IIIChapter IVChapter V Chapter VI Chapter VII Chapter VIII Chapter IX Chapter X Chapter XI Chapter XII Chapter XIII Chapter XIV Chapter XV Chapter XVI (you are here) Chapter XVII Some time ago this piece of news made footnotes in the Kingsport Advertiser: “From Salida Este the reports of the second sailing of the Greenies’ pirate-hunting fleet are distressing. The fleet was unable to sniff out any pirates this month while suffering losses to the storm system that went through the Sea of Thieves this month. Commodore Argentum is feared lost at sea when his flagship, the man-o-war Lady Cora, broke apart in the tempest north of Isla del Diablo. The fleet continued to race the storm northeast, and the Verde Oro also suffered damage but was able to make port. Eslandian officials have vowed to search the Sea of Thieves for any sign Commodore Argentum may have survived.” This was how the officials did it: This feels rather tame after the size of my last chapter, but it's something to keep the story moving. I actually built this quite a while ago, really wanted to use those fancy dots pieces with the flowers. Not sure they worked terribly well, but it's a start, I'll find somewhere else to use them eventually... Comments and critique welcome as always!

This is a nice little MOC, I like how you tied the dark orange from the leaves back into the ground, and also a good hay bale design! for the UoP credits!

Thanks zoth! What a pain those windows were... they look simple but they went through several itinerations before I found something I actually liked! Thanks Grover! When I first read your black vs. reddish brown question I did a complete double take, but looking at it, I see that it was the need for 1x2 cheese grater slopes that made me throw brown out the window. I tried to get the bird upright, 'twas a slippery slope... I even used sticky putty! Yeah, good point about light on the vendor. The top story back is open for that reason, but I didn't actually shine light down it so I don't think it helped too much. Ah, I recently switched most of my accounts to a new GD logo, hopefully it'll become recognizable over time! I was wondering why you were reminding me about the CCC. Thank you! Thanks Aurore! I also loved the way the bun looked as a sign. Thanks!

The Conquering Hero Returns in Triumph
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks! Bigger isn't necessarily better... but sometimes it is. Thank you! Thanks Capt Wolf! Actually only two of the buildings are set at an angle - though now that you mention it, I wonder if that gives an illusion of all of them being at an angle... -

Did not realize you had a whole underground and interior going here! Very cool, I especially love the little seats (though they look mighty uncomfortable ). Great job throughout, the whole build is really fantastic.

Quite a neat idea with a solid color for the vortex! I actually really like it - as also the pattern you have going. One tip, you have some odd shadows crossing your build - I try to shoot in the great outdoors under shade, where lighting comes pretty evenly from all sides. Alternatively, you can try a lightbox and indoor setup - it doesn't have to be fancy to work!
