steph77 replied to MajklSpajkl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
i think i'll pass an order for those tyres... This unimog is a perfect fit to my own trucks models Just for fun, i propose a contest: Can someone guess how many 'friends' phones they are on this build? -

Did you know, this particular feeling? Looking at a new topic titlle, looking at the builder's name in front of it and thes unterminables seconds waiting your poor internet connection takes to open the page? An then? Discover that you, guy, have build all i ever dreamed out of a lego Moc? My deep respect for this. Steph. -
My point is a bit dissapointing statement.. It seems to me that everything has be done to make sure people like me (who won't never build a set but get it as parts pack) will never be able to build their Mocs. I think that the fact TLG didn't provide a free programmable app to build my own model is totally deliberate. So, until they change their mind, there will be any buy of such model(PUp), for my part. As said some post ago, they are many other ways to motorize model using third party pack as Buwizz or Sbrick. And a LOT more afordable... Just my opinion...

42122 Jeep Wrangler
steph77 replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
appart of the interrest of the Wheel (wheels we can buy appart for ways less money) this set is uninteresting at all. No mechanics, no drivetrain, no engine, only two pendular axles, direction and that's it. I'll pass my way. -
I am afraid you just won't find the place to do it. I tryied it and get to this conclusion that all the gearbox/engine setup has to be rebuild. Next to that is the question: what's the interrest af sequential shifter just for...2+N speeds gearbox? EDIT: i am sure that creating at least a 4speeds sequential is possible...

How do you want us to be bored facing such creation???? I have some question sir : - Does the direction setup be based (basically) on two independant servos. Each of them connected to respectively 2 and 3 axles with different lock angle? I guess it cannot be as simple due to fact that crab steering need the same angle for each axle when normal steering mode needs différents angle for each. How do you solved that? - The linear actuator is a XL one? true? However, the maximum raising angle doesn't seems to be that important. Wheight issue? GREAT model. You surely do not have to hesitate in case of recidive :)

For me this set looks better than any other set ever released, nor any Mocer work. I live near the belgian Francorchamps circuit and i go each year at the 6 hours endurance series. I often see this car and i must say the designer capture it's spirit like never seen before. Just my opinion. Instant buy for me.

Flaperons [IDEAS]
steph77 replied to captainmib's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
True. I try for a while to reproduce méchanically this: (And this is really harder than building an whole helicopter system) EDIT: interresting section from 0:42 EDIT 2: To complete: Spoilers The spoilers located on the upper surfaces of the wings are used to control roll as detailed above under Flight Control System, for braking on the ground as part of the Antiskid system and as a part of the DLC system (see next header). The spoilers are only used forwards of 62° wing-sweep as further aft these conflict with the fuselage. Source: http://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/general.html#flight-control-system -
Flaperons [IDEAS]
steph77 replied to captainmib's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Back to flaperons... I search for a while a compact way to reproduce the F-14 flaperon system. When the wings are deployed, the flight surface is similar to regular planes but when retracted, the plane becomes a Delta wing using flaperons. My search stopped at this point wher the mixing unit had to progressively transfer the movement from flaperons to regular ailerons -
42123 McLaren Senna GTR
steph77 replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
In my actual understanding of how it works Inside of it, it seems to me that the total lenght of the fake engine is not compatible with a correct positionning of a differential. So i think that this differential as been moved backwards to allow the connection. Problem for me, this move backwards seems to be by one only stud, this would mean that we may have a couple of 8T gears at each Wheel. Odd. -

windshield construction is different too. Originaly build with conectors it is now fully based on flex axle EDIT: the HOG is probably removable, and the steering Wheel may be functionnal! -
