  1. Another Classic LEGO Pirates set gets a remake! And a blog post! An unofficial remake in this case, but... do you think the LEGO Group might one day release an updated version of 6270 Forbidden Island?
  2. Apparently there will be an official announcement sometime during June. But there's no guarantee the LEGO Group will employ the same marketing strategy for this set so don't expect anything! When was the concept art/picture for 10305 Lion Knights' Castle released?
  3. I wish you all the best in achieving that goal! But are you talking about classic sets Pirate or just LEGO sets in gerneral?
  4. It sure is for me! More seriously @Lion King, product packaging does play a vital role in attracting customers. A box with beautifully presented photography and artwork grabs attention, particularly when it's competing for shelf space in retail outlets. But it also contributes to the overall buying experience of the product. Sure, hardcore AFOL builders and children only care about the parts inside the box, but the box itself is also a collectable. The value of a classic LEGO set can be substantially increased if the box is included in good condition, and sometimes the box alone can fetch quite high prices. Furthermore, older fans of the LEGO Pirate theme really appreciate the effort that went into presenting the classic pirate sets in physically built dioramas - many AFOLs hope that the LEGO Group one day returns to this pratice... rather than the typical modern trend of editing a product photo into a 2D artwork.
  5. In that case, I expect you'll live and achieve victory!
  6. But you won't die alone! @RichardGoring shall accompany you into battle!
  7. This is great thinking! Ok, so how do we achieve this?
  8. This is a very good point! Except maybe not quite one a decade as Barracuda Bay was released around 3 years ago. 6277 Imperial Trading Post would be a fine choice for the next updated set and @AstroFalcon suggested 6278 Enchanted Island. Although, it shouldn't strictly be updating classic sets... new, original ideas are still welcomed by AFOLs, are they not? It's about time the Imperial Armada got a base of operations so something like "Armada Port" by Brickhammer would fill that gap nicely.
  9. I must have terrified them! But alas, no, I do not have the power of those moderators. Buy the Eldorado Fortress and ignore the Star Wars sets?
  10. According to a Facebook Page follower the announcement should come "sometime in June" What a great idea! Too bad the Moderators don't check this topic.
  11. Is it price or part count which determine whether sails might be included? This rumoured set has 2,509 pieces while the original Eldorado Fortress only has 496 pieces. So that's around 2,000 more parts! Ok, granted the raised base plate reduced the piece count of the original considerably, bu still... Rock Island Refuge for example, had 378 pieces but still included a sail... Unless you personally know the individual leaking the information, how can you trust any leaker? Sure maybe their previous leak was accurate, but that's not a guarantee there's any truth to their next leak. If this is a strategic leak, let's hope they leak the information each time this discussion starts to die down. You're probably not going to find one any cheaper elsewhere. Certainly not on Bricklink! So grab it before someone else does.
  12. Glad yer happy! Ah, but we won't know if any of this is accurate until there is an official announcement... Given there's only 3 months until the speculated release, the LEGO Group will need to announce something in the near future.
  13. I think that's a great idea! But wishful thinking... What do you do think, @SpaceM? Do you think the LEGO Group will go to that extra effort?
  14. Hey @TalonCard, do you happen to know the name of the pirate minifigure in Eldorado Fortress? At first I thought it was the original version of Starboard from Pirates of Barracuda Bay but the bandana colour is different:
  15. Interesting he says "i remember there definitely being some amount of tan that seemed to be used for the beach part of the little island" given that Eldorado Fortress was built upon a grey base plate without any beach whatsoever.
  16. I was pushing 30 when they were released! Yes, you are correct. A wave 2009-10 and another in 2015. The business model was quite different back in the 80's and 90's. But it's interesting what constitutes as a "new wave" back then, because with the exception of 1990, new Pirate sets were released every year... although, the entire wave may not have been released in a single year. Let's see if I can make sense of that statement! Wave 1: 1989 - 1991 - Pirates versus Soldiers Wave 2: 1992 - 1993 - Pirates versus Imperial Guards Wave 3: 1994 - 1995 - Islanders Wave 4: 1996 - 1997 - Pirates versus Imperial Armada
  17. Good work! "fairly faithful recreation of the original" But without base plate?
  18. Would you believe later in 2023, it will be 15 years since that line was announced?
  19. Thank ye for the kind words!
  20. LAST FEW HOURS TO VOTE! A list of LEGO Pirate themed submissions can be found in the first post. We certainly do! Or at least one... just one would be great around now!
  21. Is this the official box?
  22. It will be interesting to see how it came together!
  23. @Medel, what a nice family - Ray the Castaway would be envious! Was their ship chased into a storm by pirates causing them to go off course and become stranded on a desert island? So when do we get to see those glorious close-up photos?
  24. And now I've seen everything! What inspired yourself and Jan to create a pirate Death Star?
  25. Blogged by the finest blogger in all the seas, no less!
