  1. Great looking interior scene, Kai - I like the colour scheme and the furniture. (And your use of 2x2 studded tiles is a trick I have used a few times too - makes posing a lot easier! ;) ) The story is very nice too - good to see that *something* is being done! However, this story poses a lot more questions than answers, and I shall be following developments closely! :P
  2. I have taken this up in leadership, and we will get back to you when we have a decision. :)
  3. First outpost on Hussar's Isle, Hussar's Isle, Bregir, License status: Small fortress
  4. The north-western most of the Rider Islands near Cocovia are often the first sight sailors behold, and an important strategic location for both civillian and military navigation. Therefore, a small outpost has been erected on the one called "Hussar's Isle" in preparation for the construction of a large lighthouse. Upon returning from the old world, and most recently a succesful naval engagement against a Garvian privateer and a captured Eslandian treasure galleon, Cooke, now a post-captain, has decided to stop by the new outpost for an inspection on his way to Quinnsville for a long delayed meeting with the Mayor, Sir Thomas Smaugton. Lieutenant Sharpe, commander of the garrison, is now facing his first inspection on an independent command, and the prospect of a godlike creature such as the Military Governor of the Southern Isles is bringing a sweat to his brow, although the last 14 hours since the Ironsides began beating its way against the wind towards the outpost had been rigorously spent in polishing every piece of brass available. The single cannon starting its salute, and the troops lined up for parade, the inspection was becoming very real... Captain's Log, 22nd day of October, 616 AE Raised Hussar's Isle at four bells in the forenoon watch. Winds unsuitable for mooring. Took jolly-boat in for inspection. Lieutenant Sharpe capable commander and troops in good order. Clearing ground for grand lighthouse proceeding as planned. Four bells into the afternoon watch returned to HMS Ironsides. Course lain for Quinnsville. Sails spotted on northern horizon. Private signal answered correctly. Continued on prior course.

  7. Very impressive vessel with an equally impressive colourscheme! I like the railings and the horisontal white and purple stripes, and your square sails are pretty good too. A few pointers on hull shape and rigging for future reference. Your ship has a very long and pointy bow, which is very atypical for the period - normally you would have a bluff, rounded bow, and the hull would be at its widest somewhere around the middle. Behind that, it would have a long gentle curve towards the stern. The current shape is more akin to a modern destroyer than a age of sail brig! I would also make the quarterdeck, and thus the cabin, longer or loose it completely. Your masts are nice - great cross-trees and square sails - and I like that your masts are divided in three like on a real vessel. The placement of the masts is a bit off. As someone else said, a long vessel like this would probably have three masts. With two masts, they should be spread out more for a more balanced rig. I would also suggests you look at some more pictures to get the fore-and-aft parts of your rig right. While your square sails are pretty good, I think the others need a little more work. All in all, great vessel!
  8. Thanks, Mike - my favourite posing is the soldier on the right. And his posing is entirely accidental, as he wasn't supposed to have fallen partly into that pit making him lean like that! I am working on a new source of renewable energy... Spinning the heads of evil pirate lords! Glad you like the expressions - I always have fun picking out those. Well, I am actually not sure where it is from - I think it is from one of the larger creator sets, where it was... well - an inkwell Thanks - tried to balance interior and exterior efforts. Thank you, Capt Wolf! And the minifig is a very expressive species! And yeah, I see now what you mean about the coat rack... I really need to think about photography already in the building phase! Well, the natives of Nellisa have proven almost immune to wisdom... The only ask one question again and again... "What's in it for me?" *sigh* Thanks. Elostirion - was starting to fear I wouldn't be able to fit in all the stuff I wanted... Happy to see you welcome knowledge on Nellisa too. We are happy to bring the light of science to your island. (And Alberto de Pontelli is already a member, as you know) And my stories always seem to explode in length - happy it isn't tedious!
  9. Well, since this was bumped anyway, I am going to take the chance to reply, something I have apparently entirely neglected! Thank you - was quite happy with these waves, although the places where the baseplate is bare seems to stand out by my current standards... Thanks, Mike - I remember putting quite a lot of work into these waves. And the coastal slope, for that matter, which I think turned out well for my third or fourth BoBS build Thanks, man! Thank you - as I said, I did put a lot of work into them. Well, not all natives are necessarily savages. (Apart from the natives of Eslandola, that is... ) Glad you liked the two different points of view - reading it again makes me want to take that up once more. Thanks anyway! Thanks Captain! Well, the Athena is a private vessel, not a navy vessel, so dressing in the official uniforms would have been pretty pretentious, wouldn't you think? And as Ayrlego suggested later, they are indeed fishing nets hanging out to dry. Thank you, Elostirion. Looking at it now it seems a bit naive, but still sets the scene pretty well. Thanks, Ayrlego! And yep, you are right about the nets - and see my comment to Captain Genaro for the uniforms. Thanks, Titus, glad you liked it! Well, what are you waiting for? I am certain all the factions will be very welcoming towards new blood! (But of course, I am duty-bound to tell you that the smartest, most handsome, and coolest people are in Corrington.... ) I am happy you like the story-telling. (And O'Brian is certainly, as is probably painfully obvious, my main inspiration! ) Reading this, I feel like I might have neglected my stories lately, at least in some of my builds, and I will try to put some more work into that going forward. Lastly, just a tip from an old hand here. Normally, it is frowned upon to revive old subjects unless you have something EXTREMELY important to say, but as you are new here, I am certain the admins will let you go with a warning this time.
  10. Sounds like something for the Royal Society to get involved in! Count us in!
  11. Updated with Mike's fancy new map, the new properties, and trade value and town bank. Remember to check the Military Governor's Office for outstanding offers!
  12. If you are in need of funding, the Montoya Estate might be interested in setting up an Eslandian shell-corporation!
  13. Lovely building! My favourite overall detail is how it is recessed into the ground. The exterior is great, and the loading bay for salt is a great addition as is that terracotta roof. I really like how you play into the other buildings opened in Mooreton Bay! The interior is great too, with a lot of interesting details (I love those hanging pigs!) , and your description of the process really enlightened me! (Is this a true description of the actual process? ) When the Naval Base at King's Harbour becomes more organised, expect the provisioner to stop by to place orders for a continuous supply to the fleets!
  14. A small study has been acquired in Nova Terreli by the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy. Licensed as small educational.

  16. As Montoya has mentioned before, this is a bold and unexpected move! Very nice job on the constitution - seems like it could actually work for a new faction in BoBS. The build is nice too. Lovely crowd and great building. (Especially that roof)
  17. Cool sig fig! Looking forward to following his stories! :)
  18. Great depiction of a beach landing, Capt Wolf - both the beach itself and the posing is very nice. The ground is a little plain, but I didn't notice this at first glance. The pictures are a bit off in terms of focus, graininess, and colour, though. Looks like they might be taken in bad light? As to the political perspectives, it is interesting and surprising to see bluecoats intervene, and one might wonder at their motives! And depending on your own objectives, you might find that the Corlander forces are more or less on your side...
  19. Great looking build, Kai - I like the vessel, the fog, the water, the monster, and the figs. It all has a wonderful dream like quality. Not too sure I empathize with Wyndzon, though - At least some of this he has brought upon himself!
  20. To his Majesty, King Philip, Sovereign of Oleon and New Oleon and affiliated colonies, Following the Eslandian claim to Your Throne, we have invoked a state of armed neutrality. We believe it our duty to inform you that while this is meant to dissuade the aggressor, such a neutrality will extend to pre-emptive on your part, as well as defensive measures, and we fully expect you to respect our position. In the name of her Majesty, Annetta of Corrington Respectfully Don Isaac Montoya Lead Consul
  21. To the High Council of Eslandola, After renewed claims pressed on the Olean Throne by the Sovereign of Eslandola, the Crown of Corrington hereby announces a state of Armed Neutrality. We desire no part in your conflict with Oleon, and find it a gross transgression against the pursuit of peace in Halos. Thus, any Eslandian forces found to be trespassing on Corlander soil or territorial waters for the purposes of military action against Oleon will be met with full retribution of Her Majesty's armed forces. Or forces have been placed on high alert, and will be ready to interfere. We hereby consider you adequately forewarned. In the name of her Majesty, Queen Annetta Don Isaac Montoya Lead Consul Corrington
  22. Previous Builds: Concerns in the Ministries In the Dark of Night Lighting up the Diplomatic Furnace Blue Rooster Inn March of the Grenadiers After having arrived at Nellisa, Montoya had had his plate full. New Terra had experienced large scale privateering, naval invasions, hostile claims on the Olean throne, and heavy build-ups of naval forces by competing powers, and of course, Corrington could not stand idle and had landed troops on Victoria Island. Further, a secret, yet well-established Mardierian Colony on the same island had been unveiled, leading the major powers to reconsider their positions. Much of this had fallen on his plate, and therefore, he had retreated to a study in Nova Terreli owned by the Royal Society. As a member, this was a privilege he often took advantage off, as not even the most hospitable of hosts (amongst which Fontonajo was certainly to be counted) could offer the complete discretion and tranquillity needed for scientific or diplomatic work. Having just finished a report on the recent declaration of independence of Nellisa, he returned with a frown to the recent directives from the Ministry of Finance. Being narrowly concerned with finances and profits almost to the degree of an Eslandian, the temporary minister of Finance, Lord Pennington, had continuously thwarted Montoya's efforts to serve Corlander interests in New Terra. Pennington was a man of the old world, and Montoya had come to suspect that he was more concerned with his own career than the good of the country. During the recent events on Victoria Island, Pennington had almost succeeded in rendering all Montoya's efforts useless, damaging foreign relations and eventually throwing Montoya into disrepute with the Crown. Whether this was part of a Brickiavellian plot to throw Montoya out of favour, side-effects of Pennington's ambitions, or blatant incompetence, Montoya was not sure, but would do his best to find out. Leaning back, he smiled as he heard the newspaper boy exclaim the latest headline. At least Pennington hadn't been able to thwart this... Meanwhile, outside the study: "Special Report! Corrington announces armed neutrality! Buy the Pontelli Gazette to get the full story!" The newspaper boy shouted to the assembled crowds. "Following King Fernando Augusto's renewed claims on the Olean throne, the Crown of Corrington has issued a statement that Corlander neutrality will be enforced with force. Forces of King Fernando Augusto found to be trespassing on Corlander soil or territorial waters, whether for offensive or defensive manoeuvres, will be met with the full extent of her Majesty's armed forces." While a few soldiers were worried by these news, most of the populace seemed happy to find Fernando Augusto's plans frustrated. ____________________________ Just a little build to propel our story, set of a few rumours of (IC) disconcert in Corlander circles of power, and most of all, to proclaim our armed neutrality.
  23. But how on earth does it all fit together? :O
  24. Great looking figs and nice little scene. My favourite part is the cannon though - and I would like to see some detail shots of its construction! And nice to see Mooreton Bay responding to the increased threat level. DEFCON 3!
  25. To Count Adwin Encarnacion, Minister of the Colonies of Mairdier, The Crown of Corrington has no wish for war, but neither will it be swayed by threats. However, to prove our willingness to negotiate, orders have been issued for our troops to refrain from any offensive operations and only respond in force if under direct attack. Further, they will be instructed to refrain from erecting any permanent fortifications. Nonetheless, let it be known that field defences will be prepared and that her Majesty's finest will be prepared to meet any direct aggression mercilessly. Your threat of issuing Letters of Marque appear to her Majesty empty, as Mardierian privateers have long been preying on our trade. Unsurprisingly our fleets have met these unprovoked aggressions relentlessly, yet they have not gone unnoticed, and you may consider this an official protest against these attacks upon a peaceful nation's shipping. Her Majesty's forces will remain entrenched on La Isla de Medio awaiting the outcome of our negotiations. The Crown of Corrington wishes only peace and order, and will be awaiting for instructions for the Queen's representative to meet on neutral ground with a suitable official to negotiate for a peaceful solution to the current conflict. In service of Liberty, Peace, and Order Don Isaac Montoya Lead Consul, New Terra Corrington
