  1. A grim place indeed! My favorite parts are the orientation of the towers (just don't keep the build together for too long as the non-legal technique is putting stress on those poor bricks! ) and the barrel vault. Great idea with the signpost for illiterates as well!
  2. Very nice and sturdy look! I like when builders mind that also the walls of towers should be at least as thick as the curtain walls, sometimes towers look very brittle even at ground level when too much interior is crammed into them.
  3. Nice to see more classic falcons appear in Historica! I really like your trees growing smaller with distance, but I think the forced perspective illusion would have worked even better at a lower angle and with focus only on the riders.
  4. Nice landscaping, I like the color mix on the ground! Only nitpick is that I'm not very fond of the dbg plate corner on the right side in a build with an otherwise quite smooth edge.
  5. Glad to hear that you are thinking that way as well. That's why I usually appreciate the feedback here in GoH better than on flickr or Merlin's Beard, where people write much less constructive criticism. The spirit here of helping everyone improve regardless of if they are building one of their first MOCs or seasoned veterans appearing regularly on TBB is something to be happy about but also make sure we are caring for and not losing.
  6. Nice Kaliphlin atmospere, and excellent minifigs! I hadn't seen that red female hairpice before, but now I have to get one or three I agree that the guard looks a bit out of place however, even though I know that DM has used that kind of figs before in Mpya Stedor.
  7. Nice series of builds! I think my favorite is the one underneath the giant bird
  8. Wow! That's something like a whole Wikipedia article for your county, great job! And the digital and plastic illustrations are working very well to illustrate it. Keep up the good work!
  9. Lots of nice details and excellent photography! I love those small snow mounds, reminds me of home in late winter I'm not too fond of the technique of using only round tiles for the ground however, it creates a too repetitive pattern for my taste.
  10. What a return to GoH with this barrage of builds! I absolutely love all the neat details you've managed to make with those brown windows, and especially that gorgeous round window I also think that this color combo for the ground is one of the best I've seen you put together. Even though they make an outstanding contribution, I'm not completely sure I like your inclusion of non-lego (?) vines. One of the things I've always admired you for is how you've managed to create shapes I didn't thought was possible using the relatively limited palette the lego bricks are after all Then again, the purist in me is still fighting for control...the vines are perfect in terms of the visual impression!
  11. This is simply outstanding! If I have to choose a couple of highlights I liked even more than the rest it is how the tower is shrinking with height and how the colors on the ground are playing so well together Once again, great to have you back here!! I can't help to wonder about the difference in hue between the pictures however, are you sure you've go the white balance right in some of the shots or is it intentional...?
  12. Great to have you back here! As usual excellent shaping and details, even though I'm not sure of all the color choices...looks almost Nocturnian to me
  13. Excellent creature design! Your talent for details is showing here as well. (I know for a fact that I commented in this thread on my phone, must have gotten lost in the air...)
  14. Nice FP and excellent plant designs! I'm so glad to see that you are building so much now! UoP +1.
  15. I havn't had any use of most of my Gimlis or Hobbit dwarves, so I figured I should try something new. And last challenge was way to peaceful Still have most of my bley tied into my castle which turned out to be way more long lived than I thought, but I guess I will have to open my last Helm's Deep and Kingdoms Joust if I come up with something slightly more parts consuming. Right now I'm probably going to focus on the two smaller categories and maybe (but only if time with two kids permits) do something for the last category. It all depends on how deep the water should be, but for just some random texture on top of a blue plate maybe that would do...otherwise I think a couple of thousands at least.
  16. I know how it is... We don't have any PaB wall in Sweden either, I just try to pick up a few cups whenever I'm travelling (especially if it's to the US where it's like 50% off!) If you have some round plates I would advice you to try to fill at least a part of the water and then count them and multiply by the total area. Otherwise, a great water part that has started to appear on PaB walls (and therefore very cheap on BL) recently is the jewel 30153 in trans-light blue which I think looks even better for water. I've picked up something like a cup and a half in total this summer when visiting a couple of Lego Stores So far I've not managed to build something to include them in however...
  17. I tried the technique a while ago and I was surprised that literally all my (what I thought at the time was more than I ever will need) trans-clear, trans-light blue and trans-blue 1x1 round plates was needed. So for your build about half to two-thirds of a PaB mug maybe? In numbers that is quite a lot... But if you have an entirely blue layer underneath it probably takes less, I had to cover up all the gray area of the baseplate.
  18. Definitely an extreme environment! UoP +1 I agree however that the vignette probably would have been better balanced if it was slightly bigger.
  19. Sign me up for the dwarves!
  20. Wonderful build! I love the colors and the shaping of the house and landscape You are quickly establishing yourself as one of the top builders here, keep up the good work! UoP +1
  21. Lovely little build! It has the kind of look I would expect from a shrine somewhere on a fantasy/medieval countryside
  22. I did something similar, where each section was wider at the back than at the front. If I remember correctly, the angle between the sections was about 1 stud per 3 studs. The priority was however to get the inside wall as round as possible. My solution for the tiling of the upper floors was to allow some overlap between the "pies"...which worked ok to eliminate the gaps but did not look very good on the small scale of the build. Fortunately the minifigs hid most of the ugly misaligned tiles I have longed to build a larger amphiteatre for a long time, but never gotten around to it...your build here is great inspiration for me to think further on it!
  23. Great to hear! You seem to have good progress with your building at the moment Congratulations! A substantial portion of that is in GoH I suspect?
  24. Excellent build! I like the small scenes with the minifigs within the build and how you've made it instantly recognizable to be in Ruadh by including that tree I tried my hand at a similar technique last year, but I cheated a bit by covering up the gaps with minifigs
  25. Nice scene with lots of details! I love builds like these with correct descriptions of the medieval industrial processes
