  1. Really nice snow/ice with all those angles! And the tower is gorgeous too For some friendly advice, which I try to give to everyone so they can improve regardless of skill (consider or disregard it at will): I would encourage you to take a higher resolution picture if possible and rotate it a bit so that the scene is straight. Now it looks as you have either had a lower resolution to start with, or maybe lost some resolution in the image handling?
  2. Welcome to Kaliphlin SSchmidt! Nice intro! My sigfig also lives in Barqa when not travelling around Hisorica. But I assume that Logar hasn't stolen anything from the mansion of Sir Gideon when he has been out of the city?? ;)
  3. Impressive! I especially like the buildings with columns inside the wall
  4. You mean like submitting part 3 as a free build if I can only squeece in one more build in April?
  5. How many in Kaliphlin are making Ch VI entries? If fewer than the maximum number of judged builds are in progress, then we should make sure to at least enter enough entries to get some points for all. Is it the best 5 builds from each guild that gets scored, or have I misunderstood the system? Anyway, I have one 60x38 MOC which I intended as a prelude to the battle of Queenscross (and built within Ch VI size limits just in case ), but didn't have time to finish before the battle started. I could enter that MOC as one entry in Ch VI but would need to make two more really fast builds if I am to make the Ch VI deadline... So what I'm basically saying is that I could probably enter Ch VI with a sub-standard entry just in case to at least get some points for my first build, if not enough entries are produced by you other guys. But if enough other builders with more experience, bricks and time are entring Ch VI anyway, I will focus on finishing my build as a Kaliphlin free-build and maybe make another one but not necessarily before April 30.
  6. Fantastic builds and a great story, can't do much more than agree with the previous posts and look forward to the continuation :)
  7. How is the battle going? Any more fighting or are both sides cautiously waiting for the other side to make a move?
  8. Looks like a nice and detailed build, but the presentation could use some work. Especially some kind of backdrop would be advisable, and prefferably some more light as well.
  9. Nice build! Looking forward to seeing the rest :)
  10. Nice interior! You have really captured the feeling of a vibrant inn That green plate under the floor in pic #2 disturbs my eyes somewhat however, but other than that I think this is a great build with so many details to discover and enjoy!
  11. Looks like they can wreak some havoc on the hand forces! Nice red quivers by the way, are those new pieces? And I like the small landscaping you've done, looks quite part consuming however
  12. Looks interesting! Nice rounding and impressive scale, is it going to be a giant tree?
  13. Nice to see some more pictures, you have really captured some fierce action in some of them! Good thing Carol Anne and Klugg showed up to save the day, but maybe we cannot expect much more reinforcements now?
  14. Thank you for your encouraging comments! Usually the garrison is only a few men, and they either just sleep on some straw or in their bedrolls on the floor inside the upper floor (the one with the arrowslits) or in cots hanging between hooks in the walls. Most of the year the probability for rain in the Siccus Badlands is very low and the nighttime temperature is quite pleasant, so often like many other of the inhabitants of Kaliphlin the soldiers in this tower find it most comfortable to sleep on the roof. If a larger force is present, they would camp on the ground in the same way as they would do in the field anywhere else since this is not a fortification built to hold a large army.
  15. Nice boat, the brick-built sails look really good!
  16. A good laugh, just what a parody is for! Great work The FP background is really nice as well.
  17. Great MOC! Especially nice are the border around the whole thing and the stonework of the building! I'm however not totally convinced of the roof design.
  18. Great build! I especially love the mottling in the wall and the muddy feel of the ground
  19. The size of the base was the input I had to work with, I built this for a Swebrick competition where the base was restricted to 16x16, and the base of the castle to 8x8. Of course I took the opportunity to show the Kaliphlin colors!
  20. I love the scale of your project! However, the sketch seems a bit too orthogonal to me. If you plan to render it fully in bricks I think it would be even better to try some more irregular patterns. On another note, I have posted a MOC for another of my small factions now. More pictures here.
  21. Somewhere in the Siccus Badlands, not far from the Arkbri River, is an ancient watchtower is located on top of a spire of rock. It is now in the hands of the Arkbri Falcons, a band of mercenaries led by the notorious Ediz Falconi. Right now the AF are fighting for the salvation of Kaliphlin against the Hand of Corruption forces, or at least fighting them because Sir Gideon and his wealthy friend Emad ibn Sohail al-Haboob has paid them a lot of gold to do it. The AF are using the tower as a base of their operations in the area, and have so far been quite successful in stopping some of the Hand's smaller raiding parties. The locals call the tower "Falcon's Nest", both because of its inhabitants and because of its appearance. The tower is easy to defend as there is no way up except by a rope ladder which the defenders can easily raise, and they are also stocking up on provisions to be able to withstand some time surrounded if a larger enemy force would appear. The rope ladder can be lowered to allow access: Bringing in provisions to the small garrison: Steps hewn in the rock, once they extended all the way to the top but some defenders centuries back decided to remove most of them
  22. I didn't put too much time into this, I actually built it quickly for a mini-challenge over at Swebrick (supposedly showing a historical event, but I take every chance I get to build in Kaliphlin style nowadays). I was sitting in front of the TV upstairs where I had a few bins of bricks from my recent MOCing (which I will post here soon as well) and didn't bother to go downstairs to pick up some dark red or other "roof tile" colored slopes
  23. Well, it wasn't supposed to be a wall but the edge of a roof of a building along the street.
  24. Here is a small vignette I put together yesterday, showing one of my side characters named Emad ibn Sohail al-Haboob riding into Petraea through one of the smaller city gates. He is a wealthy and definitely untrustworthy merchant and a good friend and business partner of Sir Gideon. Emad has a very slow temper, but can be terrible when pushed to anger and go to extreme measures to punish those who have wronged him. This has earned him his nickname, meaning "the sudden sandstorm", a name he has adopted as his surname since it gives him useful respect in his business counterparts. The hard life of a Kaliphlin merchant has made him quite used to the sword as well, even though he definitely prefers to pay others to do the fighting for him.
  25. Nice little micro build! I suppose it is showing one of our water-powered industrial facilities aiding in the war effort?
