  1. Liked the dialogue as well, it's not very often you hear the bad guys side of things :) Nice landscaping also!
  2. Nice! You are developing an interesting style! Many details to love and be inspired by here :)
  3. Really nice interior and use of the map! But I didn't know that Varlyrio was such a large island! Must be plenty to discover there :)
  4. Nice to see Nocturnus still alive (or undead? ) with new members and challenge VI entries! Of course various factions in Historica are using falcons on their coat of arms since the falcon is an elegant and strong animal, and common all over Historica.
  5. Thank you all for your encouragement! But please feel free criticize anything I could improve on the next time, that's really why I'm here in the first place It was my first attempt at a brick-built boat, definitely not very sturdy but I think I finally managed to get the lines of a river barge quite ok. Thanks! The windows are actually the reason behind that particular build and indeed the whole theme of the entry, I was experimenting with a bricklink delivery of various transparent cheese slopes and I thought the flames were a nice pattern. I don't know how well it came through on the photos, but another detail is that I put lighting in the fire pits (1 red and 1 yellow light brick in each). Here is a picture which shows it better (sorry for the ugly background color, looked better on the screen I edited it on...): Fire pits by Gideon_83, on Flickr
  6. I agree! It is great to be able to be part of such a fantastic group of creative builders, so much to be inspired by! And so many well-written stories :)
  7. Lovely dark red house! And I like the interior scene very much as well. At that scale the mix of transparent plates in different colors give a very good effect of small glass panes
  8. Great story, you leave us in a nice measure of uncertainty! Even though it wasn't a legal Ch VI entry, I consider the battle of Queenscross to be one of the greatest contributions to the ending of Book I, and definitely the most memorable event in GoH since I joined. But of course it is nice to see more of the aftermath of the battle documented as a proper challenge entry
  9. Great to see another Kaliphlin entry, and with such fantastic builds! The interior scene and the photos of that are probably my favourites, but its hard to decide...so many nice details on the other builds as well!
  10. Haha same here, I fortunately had a few days of leave from work I could partially allocate to the deadline of Ch VI
  11. Corrected a some typos and errors from cutting and pasting text, I was obviously a bit too keen on making the deadline... Please don't hesitate if there are more errors in the text!
  12. I really like the temporary wooden section in the wall!
  13. Excellent build, happy to see more of Varlyrio! I like the vegetation and the boats best of all here, but there are many other details to like as well
  14. Final part of my Challenge VI entry is up! (First post updated)
  15. First post updated with the final chapter! These will be my scored builds: Along the Arkbri River by Gideon_83, on Flickr On the road to Castle Zar by Gideon_83, on Flickr Battle of Castle Zar by Gideon_83, on Flickr
  16. I really like how you have matched the micro build to the gatehouse, and the moat is really nice! The barrel is a nice detail, but it looks as if it is extremely light? The lighting in the interior is just wow!
  17. @Damaximus: That Mpya Stedor engraved brick is awesome, how have you made that?
  18. Fantastic exterior and nice interior as well, my favorites are like some already have said the roof and the corners of the house. That's a technique I might borrow some day And great minifig posing!
  19. Great entry! The woodwork in the village is really nice, and I think the mottling on the wall in the second build is one of the better I've seen Fun idea with the ducks btw.
  20. Tripod, a decent lens on a DSLR camera and a lot of tinkering with camera settings and many trial shots to get a depth of field i was satisfied with @Ska, Olympus works ok for me, but I'm looking a bit for a new camera (which would have to be Canon or Nikon in this segment nowadays...) since the small Olympus four-thirds sensor of this camera is way too noisy in low-light conditions and the fact that this one can't be used for filming. Thanks! Actually, the only pictures in chapter 1-3 above which I have edited are those of Queenscross. The background in the others are just the backdrop with enough indirect light (external flash directed at a white ceiling) to wash it out. Saves lots of time
  21. I think I'll go with the microscale one, it's the one I'm most satisfied with how it turned out. The Queenscross build was a more or less hastily assembled one for plot reasons, but I like the technique with the cloaks on the top of the figures heads. I don't know if I've seen it before, but I would be surprised if someone hadn't thought of it before me. And you are correct Ska, it is definitely based on your battlefield. The painter who made this small picture just paid a bit more attention to the details
  22. My favourite parts in this build is the snot rockwork, and the fact that the bridge is placed at an angle. The engineer in me protests a bit however at the seemingly flat structure of the bridge, some more vaulting would maybe have looked more realistic to match the superb water!
  23. The pillars are definitely one of the best details in this build!
  24. Nice rounded tower with great detailing on the walls! Its easy to not see the hinged gaps
  25. The aftermath of the Battle of Queenscross found it's way into my Challenge VI entry! Sir Gideon is mourning the death of his friends... Queenscross after the battle by Gideon_83, on Flickr
