  1. Nice little Kaliphlin freebuild! I like the trees and the swimmer best :)
  2. Welcome to EB odidoma! Great build as I have already commented on Swebrick, especially the ruined tower :)
  3. Looking good, especially from the inside with all the sections put together. From the outside it looks a bit strange to me that the tower isn't farther out than the rest of the wall, which should make it more suited to both defending the wall and the gate.
  4. Nice digital creations! I think I like the croissant sign the most, clever
  5. Nice build, I especially like the stonework on the towers and their crenelations. The photography is good, even though I think the light is a bit too bright (too sharp shadows). But I suppose like Sweden that they have nice clear and crisp sunny days in late winter in Mitgardia! :)
  6. Definitely one of the best Ch VI stories! I love when there are historical links to "present" events ;)
  7. Nice interior build, and great to see more everyday life of Kaliphlin! What head is that you are using now? Could be good to know if Sir Gideon happen to cross paths with Lord Damaximus in some build
  8. Ok, here is updated info on my character (Sir) Gideon (Gideon) Life: Son of an unknown elf and a human mother, daughter of an Avalonian lord. Gideon was looked on as a half-breed and scorned both by humans and elfs. Grew up in his grandfather’s castle Nordana Hall in Avalonia and got good weapon training, but ran away and travelled Historica for many years. Joined the guild of Kaliplin and served in the Petraean city guard for some time. Lives in Barqa, but leads the life of a wandering adventurer and tradesman. Quite successful at business, don't ask. Fought in the battle of Queenscross, where he gained a nemesis in the cyclops Liberated the Khel’Zarim fortress Zar from invading orcs Currently: Castle Zar in the western foothills of the Rakath Mountains, in northern Kaliphlin. Secondary characters (put in collapsed spoiler box): Sir Derrik of Groenby Gideon’s oldest friend, after spending many years in Kaliphlin in his youth Avalonian knight whose county got ravaged by Victor Revolword and the Hand of Corruption Joined forces with Sir Gideon, to fight the Hand of Corruption Slain by the cyclops king Orgoth the Near Sighted in the battle of Queenscross Aemilius Young Kaliphlin son of a merchant Served as a squire for Gideon after he had seen the boy’s extraordinary weapon talent Died at the battle of Queenscross, saving Gideon from the cyclops king Emad ibn Sohail al-Haboob Shady and wealthy Kaliphlin merchant Son of Sohail, who Gideon served as a caravan guard for Slow temper but terrible when really angry, hence the nickname al-Haboob ("the Sandstorm") Ediz Falconi Kaliphlin mercenary captain, leader of the Arkbri Falcons Fought in the battle of Queenscross and in the battle of Castle Zar Aidana Met Sir Gideon as a girl travelling with Emad's father Sohail Female battlemage of the Khel’Zarim Led Gideon’s party in recapturing castle Zar Lutalo Colored soldier from an island in the southern sea Noble-born but exiled to Kaliphlin Roger Farstrider Scoundrel, former sailor One of Kaliphlin’s best sharpshooters with his crossbow I can add more links later, time to go to bed a long time ago here in Sweden.... There are also a couple of characters who have not yet been introduced
  9. Great work with both the build and photography! Reminds me of some of the shops in the alleys of Trastevere in Rome :)
  10. Another nice vignette, with great minifig composition! And good job with the photography!
  11. Nice vignette with an interesting color palette, but in this case I would like to especially give you credit for great photography work!
  12. Nice vignette, the footsteps are the best detail :)
  13. It was probably the upscaling of the picture on the iPad that made it fuzzy...my 750px test shot of a Kaliphlin house in POV-Ray (which i assume you were also using?) got the same problems on that screen.
  14. That tower design is great, and well executed here! I also like that you use an irregular base, seems to be spreading in Historica :)
  15. Looks really nice with the new rendering settings! Maybe still a bit fuzzy, at least on my iPad screen, what resolution do you render at? I agree that all-tile surfaces should be only when representing really smooth surfaces, but a stud-only surface without structure or color variations maybe looks more crude build wise rather than crude in what it is representing if you go for a high level of detail otherwise. I think your structure on the ground outside works great btw :)
  16. Welcome Str0ngbad Khor II, great to see some more of the dwarves daring to engage in surface business! Your help in the defense of Historica is greatly appreciated! In Kaliphlin dwarves are not uncommon, but I see that it is beneath the mountains of Mitgardia the might of the dwarven kingdoms are strongest. Good approach! As with any camera, go for good lighting. Preferrably natural (outside) or at least ample incandescent light. Fluorescent lighting/low energy lightbulbs tend to distort the colors badly.
  17. Nice digital work! Is it screenshots from LDD? (it almost looks too good to me for being from LDD's rendering?) One thing I think would improve the build would be to use tiles for the floors, maybe square grey 2x2 tiles for the ground floor and 1xN (4/6/8) brown for the upper floor?
  18. Welcome Yooha, or should I say Lasvor Nirhad? Did you find GoH because of all the awesome ch VI entries? :)
  19. Kaliphlin's sea power grows, always nice to see :)
  20. Nice build, I especially like the bird in the first picture! Intriguing story, looking forward to more of that :)
  21. Great feeling you have created there, so sad that there are so many refugees all over Historica these days... Is one of these your sigfig by the way?
  22. Thanks! Please advice me to the weak points, I joined GoH to improve my building after all ;)
  23. I agree, the orange really works well to make the mud look more realistic. The tree is also superb!
  24. It's nice when interests converge, my photographing had almost ceased (except for on vacation and the like)...but since I started building with lego again I've got a good reason to develop my photography skills as well. I find that to be a very important part of making good MOC presentations and I really encourage everyone who comment on my builds (and others) to give constructive feedback on the photography and postprocessing. And for those whose pictures I have criticized, it is purely because I want you to be able to improve on that aspect as well as the fantastic improvement all over GoH in build quality :) One thing I wanted to point out (but might have gone lost in my photo rant) was that with some simple care when shooting it is so much easier to post process and publish good pics. - Good lighting (enough covered already in previous posts) - Neutral background (makes it easier to publish immediately or to cut away the background, a simple piece of cardboard or a sheet goes a long way) - Ensure sharpness (short exposure time, good lighting helps here, and/or use a tripod, there are really cheap small table tripods for compact cameras that might be good enough in many cases) - Control the depth of field (zooming in usually gets you less sharp objects in front and behind what's in focus if you don't have a camera where you can compensate with the aperture). But if you do fp, then you don't want good depth of field ;) - And probably more easy tips, can someone help me here?
