  1. Nice mix of colors you achieved there! A great example that you can "take what you have" and still make a good build I'm however not totally convinced about the statues (?) in the walls, they look a bit too much like exposed soldiers to me. Even though it's not showing very much of the wall, my favourite shot is probably the one over the heads of the defenders down on the attacking army. Great choice of camera angle!
  2. Nice wall technique, I especially like the texturing but the color variations are nice as well. The story and minifig posing are also great :)
  3. Scary demon, the face is spot on and the smoky shape of the body works great especially in the shots with limited depth of field :)
  4. Sounds great! As long as the deadline won't be too soon I'm looking forward to building something for Kaliphlin again
  5. Wonderful landscaping, the cliff and vegetation looks great! I especially like the SNOTed cliff and the hanging plants, clearly those springs are good for biodiversity I am however a bit ambivalent regarding the use of cotton, it looks great but the purist in me can't help thinking that it might have been possible to build with bricks with some trans-clear/white combo or something else... I also agree with CBB that the base could have benefited from some more attention, at least on the sides towards the camera. Keep these nice Mitgaridan MOCs coming!
  6. Wonderful building! I agree with the decision to omit minifigures, it would detract the eyes from all the wonderful architectural details.
  7. A lot of action on very few studs, well done!
  8. Wonderful idea of a multi-vignette build, I had no idea until the last pictures that it was all the same MOC Good job with the photography as well!
  9. Looking forward to seeing the MOCs coming out of this! As a sub-arctic dweller in the real world I can testify that even above the arctic circle there can be a lot of green, just not for a very long time of the year
  10. CBB, that is possibly the best sigfig I've seen here in GoH! Can't wait to see what he will be up to in Book II
  11. Seconded, you have really earned that! Keep it up!
  12. Depends on where the old picture is located I suppose. But what I referred to is that it wouldn't hurt if you add at least one of the new pictures in a new post in the thread (maybe even with a link to the first post) when you update the first post so we lazy users who don't scroll back to the top unless we know we have to don't miss the new pictures you've posted
  13. A warm welcome to you Kalin Hardiel! May your service to Kaliphlin be prosperous! We always need more soldiers keeping the trade routes safe from all those pesky Hand of Corruption remnants preying on our peaceful traders, which really are irreplaceable to maintain Kaliphlin's wealth. I know for sure that the council of Barqa is always looking for able hands to secure our trade
  14. Nice collection of sig-figs, it is builds like this which makes me want to start collecting the pieces needed to recreate some sig-figs as well!
  15. Thanks for your comments! I actually just built in only one color (the dark tan obelisks) first, but then they had to have some environment so that made it two colors. The deserts of Kaliphlin is no match for Avalonia when it comes to colorfulness It is more or less the same sand technique as what I used here. Not as high dunes this time, but at least the sand doesn't have a hollow back side now I should however get more interesting parts in dark tan, I agree that more details on the obelisks would probably have been good. In this case, I thought adding what texture I could produce would at least be enough to avoid the "big dark tan wall syndrome"
  16. Nice build, I especially like the ground and the insects (?), and the action you've captured there! The tree is also a very interesting technique, although I would probably have preferred another layer of plant elements on top to hide the hinges more.
  17. Very nice roof, that definitely improved the MOC! Although I am not sure if very many Mitgardian roofs would be flat, since the weight of snow in a harsh winter could be troublesome then Just a quick tip to get more views if you update any MOCs in the future, be sure to also post some of it in a new post at the end of the thread or at least make a clear statement that the first post has been updated, as at least I always use the "show first unread" functionality when revisiting threads I've already started to read. In this case it was Kabel's comment that made me scroll up.
  18. A creepy kind of white elves sounds perfect for Nocturnus!
  19. Very good work on the ground, I like how you've really made it look like early spring in the north with snow melting and patches of ice still here and there. The minifig posing and the photograpy is also top notch, keep it up!!
  20. Nice tower, that stonework is really lovely! I also like your photography, especially the closeups of the minifigs. Keep it up I think a darker tone benefits Guilds of Historica, at least for myself I'd prefer that over a cheerful fantasy world.
  21. Finally got my entry photographed! Red scorpions are a rare and very poisonous animal, but their venom is also a very potent alchemical ingredient. They are sometimes found in or around old temples, like this ruin which still contains an altar to one of the deities of old Kaligem.
  22. Red scorpions are a rare and very poisonous animal, but their venom is also a very potent alchemical ingredient. They are sometimes found in or around old temples, like this ruin which still contains an altar to one of the deities of old Kaligem. Sir Gideon has found one to kill and obtain its venom for the quest Masa of Kaliphlin sent him on, in order to collect the pieces for the potion "Kiss of Life". Threading lightly with his half-elven feet to avoid the scorpions feeling his steps and with the sun at his back he is very glad that the scorpions' hearing isn't very good, since it is hard to be silent wearing full battle armor even with elvish heritage. Better that than being stung though. I have had this build on a shelf for quite a while, and only now got around to photo it. I have a new backdrop (roller curtain from Ikea), do you think it looks ok as it is or is the fabric a bit too rough? If it works out OK i think I'll buy a narrower one as well, since this is 1.6 m and a bit hard to handle and the full width is not needed very often... This will be my last GoH build for a while, stuck with LUG stuff and a promise to the family to take some brick downtime after that. Hopefully back to GoH building by the time the challenges start!
  23. Bold use of colors! It is a fair bit off from the muted color palette I would consider to be a "realistic" medieval one, but nevertheless in a fantasy setting like this it works very good!
  24. Possibly just echoing comments already my spontaneous thoughts were that the roof and door were really nice and that after some looking to get used to it the color scheme works surprisingly well!
  25. Wonderful to see legends of Kaliphlin resurfacing! (@Gabe: Your harbor MOC was one of the ones getting me to join Kaliphlin instead of Mitgardia )
