Unusual way to campaign, but a fun build!

I like it that you posted this here too, I would definitely have missed it otherwise! Nice build overall, and I especially like how you did the ground. Any chance that we might see a "behind the slopes" shot of your rocks sometime?

Collecting the Pieces - Finding the Tiger Fang

Excellent groundwork, I especially like the tree stump! A word of advice on the photography is to avoid catching your camera's/your shadow. It might even be better to shoot in the shadow actually to avoid sharp light overall? -
MOC: Scouting the Ruins (Raising the Dead: Family Heirloom)
Gideon replied to Dragonfire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I agree, I think we should emphasize constructive criticism in the comments to continuously lift the level of the whole GoH project. Seeing how many builders have improved during their time here is encouraging! Too much competition will as you say push some people away, and I think also sometimes make people push out rushed builds (at least it has made me do that sometimes). Some measure of competition is however a good thing in my opinion too keep people pushing their limits further But this probably is a discussion for another thread.- 10 replies

I agree with dG, your builds would stand out more if they were shot in better light. Try using more light sources, or even better just go outside on a cloudy day! But as I said before, the quality of your photos is clearly improving.

Very nice creation! The statue looks very imposing. -

I think those various small builds look nice, but unfortunately the photography lowers the whole impression quite a bit... I would advice you to use better lighting and avoid digital zoom (which at least the last picture looks to be suffering from?).- 5 replies

Wonderful atmosphere and an interesting backstory! I can't help but wonder if anyone ever has actually survived that...? -

Nice to see a part of this Kaliphlin wonder! It's sad to see that so much water is leaking out along the way, but I suppose that's how the people living along the aqueduct want it to be?

Looks like a bucket handle?

Nice road signs! I think I have to get me some of those

Hard to compete with that My wife at least accepts my hobby, but tends to complain a bit when it takes too much time and I order too much... But she is interested enough to have joined my LUG and bought a couple of module houses, and even made a MOC once -
Well built action, and I really like that tree! Your photography is also clearly improving, keep it up!

So cute, yet potentially mischievous? The boat is also a really nice creation, looking forward to more!

A simple background (white sheet/piece of some rigid material) and good lighting (outdoors on a cloudy day, avoid direct sunlight, don't use a built-in flash either) gets you a long way. Most modern cameras can actually take ok pictures as long as they get good lighting.

I know, just couldn't resist making a joke out of it when it could be interpreted in another way as well Sorry if it offended anyone!

Thanks for the offers! I don't think I will be looking for any significant quantities of any single minifigure in this series, but I can think of uses for at least half of the series so if it would be possible to obtain some at sub-BL prices I would be happy -
Wonderful landscape and fire! My favourite picture is the second, where the forced perspective effect really makes the worm look huge

I have the same problem, my first build after my dark age took me at least twice as long because my wife got me to promise to build it with a complete interior! But now she has realized that if I had to do that in my current project I would do less chores at home -

Ok, I might try to take a detour by the Lego Store in Liverpool or Manchester if time permits then. It would be nice to fill some PaB cups as well if they have some decent inventory, even though neither of those Lego stores seem to have a large PaB wall according to BrickBuildr... I should probably bring a stack of empty cups with stickers just in case. The trouble is that I'm not travelling alone, my colleagues would probably be a bit puzzled if I asked them to wait while I go to the Lego store to squeece minifig bags and optimize number of bricks per cup -
Epic siege weapon indeed, impressive scale and well built! The landscape is also excellent However, I can't help but wondering why they put the drawbridge so low...?

Well done! I think you've really succeeded in recreating the lines of those heads, looking forward to the whole beasts!

Lovely to see more medieval ships! I would however appreciate some decent sized pictures with a cleaner background.
