The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-Up and Discussion, Era II
Kwatchi replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Unfortunately (for me anyway), no one is truly at a war footing at the moment. Corrington and the Sea Rats are sniping a bit, but that has now been trumped by the internal COR disagreement. Era 2 is has started incredibly peacefully in comparison to Era 1, but the new systems needed a 'shake-down cruise' so it is a good thing tbh. I'm sure there will a decent war in the future, whether it be NPC vs NPC or PC vs NPC, and then those delicious letter of marques will be back on offer. There are so many young captains looking for honour, and prize money, that is is pretty inevitable for an inadvertent spark to set things off.- 243 replies

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Kwatchi replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good on you for finding a use for yours. "Mine" just sit around all day getting fat. -
A very nice interior scene. I also like the lighting effect in the fireplace. Oddly enough, I had never fully absorbed how out of proportion the cooked turkey piece is until seeing your picture; it is nearly the same size as a minifig. It looks like they cooked an ostrich or a Chima bird-person.

After losing... what was it... 17 ships to the Sea Rats who were working for Mardier at the time? -

Those tirailleurs are so perfect they drew my full attention away from a great palette and build. The (hookah) pipe is a nice touch. A nicely composed action scene; well done. -
[SR - FB - Dec 17- LDD] Black Tower Lighthouse, Haven
Kwatchi replied to kaiju's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very creepy Kaiju. Perfect for Haven. I like your choice of adding colour to the grey to break up the rockwork. It came off very nicely. -
Yikes! I have to agree there. That seems overly harsh... oh wait, I'm a hypocrite. That building has a lovely look as others have said and the crowd scene is well staged. Nicely done. PS: I just noticed the two nefarious merchants are wearing green. Nice touch!

A very entertaining development. I really like the 3 part floor layout.

The Sea Rats have finally formed a trading company. It was decided that the other factions should not have the advantage of boring commercial play all to themselves any more. Yes, this means some of us are going legit... er... maybe just semi-legit. FREE TRADERS ASSOCIATION -

[MRCA Cor] The detention of Captain Tyrell - NEW CONTENT
Kwatchi replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Is it just me, or is the WTC acting very... um searatty? Another well built, and well photographed, build Ayrlego. That line of brick facade framing at the bottom is a very nice touch. -
Wow. There is a lot of great stuff here. You have some really nice roof designs, a great interior tap room, and of course the genius idea of portraying canal locks. Nicely done!
-
That is a lovely facade and the terrain/trees gives a better feel for a Caribbean locale than I usually see (or can manage). Nice job. The tale of course has me hooked. Weaving game events into MOCs & story lines is something I enjoy tremendously.

FREE TRADERS ASSOCIATION The Free Traders Association (FTA) officially began operating in December 617 in response to aggression towards legitimate free trade fleets. Fatigued from the tyranny of the tired monarchies of the old world, many colonist had come to the islands of the Prio and Sea of Thieves looking to start anew without the oppression of the aristocracy. While they prospered initially, the attempts by some old Kingdoms to exert dominance of the trade lanes required the banding together for mutual protection. At a tavern in the Garvey's colony of Freeport, a number of ship Captains met with a delegation from Charlatan Bay to sign an accord of mutual defense and profit sharing. With its headquarters in the free port of Charlatan Bay, the FTA warehouses serve as a clearing house for legitimate (and not so much) goods traveling between the Prio Seas colonies and the Old World. At the same time, its surprisingly well-armed trade convoys travel between colonies insuring a steady supply of needed goods. Somewhere in Freeport "Gentlemen, in light of constant pirate depredation, aggression by tyrannical nations, and collusion by envious rivals we have faced in the past months, I applaud our uniting together to make common cause. Please raise your glasses with me for a toast; 'The Free Traders Association - May our success only be outshone by the gold in our purse!' Now before we begin to celebrate in earnest, there is the matter of organizing our fleet..." ---x---x---x--- Just a little build to serve for the license application to level 25 and the official announcement of the formation of the first Sea Rat trading company - the Free Traders Association (FTA). And yes, the lantern is crooked. Bah!

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
Kwatchi replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
OOC @MesabiOf course it was obvious this was not a deliberate action from the outset. Once I read your convoy had been blown off course (and really off course I gather) it became pretty apparent you weren't gunning for our little trade convoy. But I could hardly pass up an the opportunity to knock that blow-hard big behind-Admiral Fletcher down a peg. I am not a fan of 'keeping' other person's MOCs so if you build the factories, C.Bay will pay back your license costs and hand the ship back to the WTC. Since the Night's Whisper got knocked about and never made it out of zone 22, the FTA convoy find itself one ship light. What I can offer is that the Beacon sails with us next MRCA to a neutral port and the Icarus can meet us there for the hand-off. PM me once the next TMRCA is announced and we can work out a spot. I would suggest Charlatan Bay, but I couldn't help notice that a certain King's Harbour fleet (cough cough @Bregir cough) "patrolling" zone 24 and playing some dirty pool; I sees what yer up to der! -

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Kwatchi replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The colony of Charlatan Bay is looking for that ever elusive creature: the builder with free time and willing to MOC for a few Dbs. We're on the cusp of City status and simply require 3 more factories to hit it, but December is a busy month for the both of us. So if anyone is interested in building a factory in Lowtown, the colony is offering to reimburse your licensing fee and pay you a 50 Db bonus. And as always, you are guaranteed ownership in perpetuity because we don't believe in that kind of shenanigans. If this is something you can help us with, feel free to PM me to discuss further. -
We're still giggling about how they overpaid for it at auction and this makes it all the funnier.

Lol Mesabi. Be careful who you attack next time. Our fearsome class 2 & 3 trade convoy has now captured three ships in two months. I hope I didn't jinx us with that bragging. -
Lovely.

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
Kwatchi replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Dispatched on December 2, 617 To: Rear Admiral Fletcher, Commander-in-Chief, Royal Terra Novan Navy From: Captain Silas Pike, Charlatan Bay Naval Escort Peregrine It is with regret that I inform of that your navy has one again been soundly beaten and that we have taken possession of the warship WTC Beacon as a spoil of war. This last action wounds me greatly, for we had made all efforts possible to avoid this very situation. The free people of Charlatan Bay were satisfied to distance ourselves from your conflict with the notorious privateers of Bastion and had been willing to act as a neutral party. It is a poorly kept secret that there has been frequent contact and trade with some of your territorial governors for many years, even in spite of the reign of the mad bishop. Based on this, and the very assurances you made on November 14th of this year, our trade fleets left your northern marches under flag of truce assured of safe passage. Yet we had not but left the sight of land when your cowardly squadron struck at us, and were not for the superior seamanship and fighting spirit of our trading ship crews we would now find ourselves unjustly in chains. It is apparent to me now that Corrington has no honour left. You spout honey words into our ear like a Pontillian harlot, all the while plunging the knife into our side. The people of Charlatan Bay are free. We will not submit as you do to the whims of a weak monarch, acting like brats clinging the skirts of their dumpy scullery-maid mother in order to feign innocence only to throw stones when one's back is turned. We will never again wear the yoke of tyranny! I call you a liar Sir and will spread the news of your pusillanimous navy's action to all who will listen. These facts have been communicated to Mayor Amara, and I regret to inform you that a full response will likely be enacted in due time. Cordially yours, Captain Silas Pike @Bregir -
Oddly enough I saw a 5-6 'garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON' on the shelf of my local TRU in Ottawa yesterday, but none of the other sets from this wave. I would guess that since they were in the midst of a Buy one/Get one 1/2 price sale this weekend, they needed to restock the shelves with whatever large boxes were on hand.

Nice little scene. I will guess you are working with a limited collection and you are managing well, so I won't comment on the build except to say that your farmer is rather grumpy looking. Having being "caught" on this in the past myself, I'll suggest you keep a couple of different minifig heads on hand for different facial expressions; it is a small thing that makes a surprising difference.
