  1. Those icy-trans-blue parts look beautiful in the light.. I'd probably pick the set up, just for that. Leave it in a place where lots of sunlight can shine through, pose it, and snap photos.. or you know, just bask in its glory. I also really like how those lime-&-black-'Quaza' parts work here with the scheme. Very cool. Bulk needs red eyes. Moving on. Probably will try to pick this one up, for reasons already stated. Thanks for the review.
  2. Bulk with a drill. Again? Still, I think it suits him. It's a nice, seemingly-sturdy machine that can do some damage, or be delicate.. depending on the situation, and if Bulk remembered to swap out the drill bits. (Drill heads? I don't know much about drills.) Machine' fits with Bulk's color scheme, and that orange chair doesn't look so jarring here. I like the orange drill here. The trans-lime green somehow looks less awkward and more.. exciting.. to me here. Not a fan of the flick-fire missiles much, but at least we have backup if the drill fails! Speaking of which, the flippy-fold function looks very cool. Needs a little belly-bulk, but otherwise, it looks solid! I agree with the eyes, though. Bulk's eyes. Swap his head with Surge's, all the problems in the world are solved. I like the bright jumper and that almost icy cocoon. Love the color on that. While it's not the top of my list, it looks like a cool set. Thanks for the review!
  3. That beastie is simple in build, but I like 'im a great deal. Red's a nice change, and I really enjoy the detailing on the beast's upper head piece. That cocoon is bright and gives the beast's body a very organic feel. I do feel as if the thumbs look a little.. off. But it's cool. I agree with the fact that Surge's helmet looks too.. smooth. It has the shape to give off the impression that 'yes, this is Surge, come buy his toy', but it doesn't look totally right to me. Perhaps if the top somehow had a point at the rear, like Surge's helmet has in all his incarnations.. I'd like it better. And he gets a pew-pew gun. Why does everyone get the cool pew pew guns? I want a pew-pew gun D; Not sure why they opted for a red head for Surge. It's an inconsistency and to me it stands out. If I get a set with Bulk, I'll swap his and Surge's minifig-heads. Lime will look so much better. Simple set, again. I still want to pick up Jaw Beast before I do any others.. but I probably would pick this guy up after. :)
  4. For the price it's set at, it's a decent little set. We have a mech that is largely solid in its build, compared to the 'Evo Walker' from last wave; we have something for Rocka and his mech to fight ( the little crawler), and we have that gorgeous cocoon-egg-leafy-flowery-pod-thing. It's got a few more interesting parts and on its own could be fun to mess around with, or just use as a parts pack. One thing I will say is that while the arms do look a little awkward, I do like how they are in 'Pose 3'. That shot kind of reminded me of one of the Bohrok from the old 'Bionicle' days.. at least to me it did. Also, those feet. Just saying. Add some claws to it or something. I do agree that it probably would have been better if another Hero had piloted this vehicle, Nex or Stringer perhaps. Gives a new(sort of) and interesting colored character, exclusive to the set, that makes people want to pick it up more(if only for the figure). I'd probably pick up the set once it becomes available at my local Toys "R" US. I like it enough, and I'd probably do what I planned to do with the Evo Walker and just revamp it somehow. No beastie's going to be able to stand against the almighty Rocka Crawler!! ...maybe
  5. That's very clever! Reminds me of a (non-LEGO) toy I had a long time ago.. push a button, and the horse falls over. I will admit it would be cool to see it released by the pull of a string, but the way you did it works well too. Shame it can't 'stand' on its own before it's demolished. I like that there's a bunch of spectators watching, and the crumbling look of the building in question. Excellent stuff!
  6. 'This-Girl-is on fi-i-ire' Seriously, though- I do love that hair. And I like that the 'Chima' parts are being put to good use. The gold chest part makes her look like she's wearing a corset. I imagine, the way the back is with the gold buttons, that probably was the intent. :p I also really like the add-on armor from the same 'Chima' set. This just proves the pearl gold and 'Metru' red were made for each other I also really enjoy her easel and her brush. That is a very cool brush! The brick-built painting is very creative. Makes good use of those 'Chima' wings. The only thing that bothers me are her feet. Is she in heels, are they boots? To me the latter seems more correct, but it is a little tough to tell. Overall, pig, I very much enjoy your creation.
  7. It's a nice looking steamer! I enjoy the attention to the details of the real-life prototype, especially the lamps on the front. I wonder how this powerful-looking but long loco would handle on LEGO's tight radii...?
  8. That is one evil-looking throne! I like the 'Piraka' 3-toed pieces coming out of the base like giant, skeletal hands. And I like the use of those "Chima" blades and the big, red blade coming up the back. Are those plastic LEGO Train tracks on the back? Nifty! I think maybe the skeletons should be clad in 'gunmetal' pearl-grey armor. They'd look cool and blend in a little better with the place, in my opinion. The red-and-black color scheme works perfectly here. I really want to see more done with this- It looks evil, and I like it.
  9. I wonder, with all the two legged mechs we've seen, plus the four-legged 'splitter' thing that Surge operates(with the separating flying portion, of course), and the 3 legged machines.. has anyone thought of creating a vehicle with the new cockpit part with wheels? Treads would seem most appropriate for rugged terrain. I doodled some ideas down on paper, and I'm thinking of throwing something together with the parts I have, maybe, and I need to know the dimensions of the new cockpit-chair piece. Wouldn't that be cool though? A vehicle using those new parts.. I thought of trying to design a mobile crane, but with the parts I have, something smaller will have to suffice. I look forward to those Summer sets.. Bulk in particular. His helmet still looks a little off to me..
  10. It's got everything you need for a City food cart. I like it!
  11. I really like that ribcage, and the overall skeletal look of the creation. I do agree with DraikNova about the blocky head, but I think it's cool that it can actually open up to reveal the Kratta/what I assume to be organic matter (a brain?) inside. I know it was probably meant to be thin as bone, but it does feel like it's lacking.. something. But, I still really like that ribcage :)
  12. I agree with Mutant Orc in regards to the color- silver would look more fitting for this Mech and Breez herself, but the way it looks now is very cool. I like that it uses the same kind of gun we saw when the new CCBS system came out, and that sniper cannon looks terrific. I also like how you managed to put the hex shield on there. It works rather well, considering Breez got it in her "Breakout" form, and it never hurts to have some extra protection! My only gripes are the silver (which for the squarish clip-armor is currently only available in the Brain-Attack Bulk), and the lack of the Hero-Core on the minifigure. It's like she's missing her heart, and it is a little off-putting. Overall, though.. I like how this baby looks. Hope to see more mechs (and maybe monsters?) from you soon! :)
  13. I hate to admit it, but these look pretty cool. LEGO did Chima Ultrabuild figures, and Chima's got minifigs, so it's not too hard to imagine them doing this officially. If that Red torso was un-printed I'd pounce on it immediately. Gold's hands.. which are gold, and probably the only color they haven't been in officially, are pretty desirable too. Those Glatorian heads look a little odd. I wonder if they have the same 'brittle' cups? While they do look pretty cool together, I imagine the quality of the pieces aren't as good as the official stuff.. how did they feel when you handled them? Interesting review! Thanks so much for sharing it with us :)
  14. My local Target store now has Evo's XL machine and Rocka's Stealth Machine.. and that's it. Hopefully, more will become available in my area soon!
  15. My last was the Brain-Attack Breez, but it'll soon be that Evo Walker.. :D
  16. That basically sums it up for me.. I wouldn't mind using more 'Bionicle-era' parts in my creations.. but with the CCBS I'm learning to use a small, limited number of parts in limited shapes to make something new, or several somethings new over and over again. Which is really cool.
  17. The existing minifig hoods don't work on the Friends heads? Not even the pulled-back hood? Dang. You could take a minifig-cape and use that as a hood somehow, or cut one from cloth to use. Might be simpler than making a totally new mold for this. It's an interesting idea, and I like how the Photoshopped image looks. I think, though, that without the zipper or other subtle features, the Photoshopped image looks rather plain. I hope that whenever you make this a reality, that those little details make it in. I also have to agree with Cheaster- it does look odd not having her yellow, however if this is meant to be a Friends thing then I can understand the color change. I hope to see more of this soon! :)
  18. This combiner works very, very well! Little Evo sits nice and tight in the cockpit, and thanks to the shape of the wind screen, has a place for his feet! I really like the way the Technic beams shape the torso of the mech, and I like those those big plate parts for the shoulders, shins, and "crotch" area as well. Lots of hidden little missiles on this machine as well, I like it! Something I'm not a big fan of are the exposed ball joints on the upper arms.. but if one is only using parts from the two sets, I suppose this could not be helped without totally throwing off the color scheme. And the hilt just after the Jet-part on the sword looks a bit.. flimsy. Again, probably could not be helped. Overall it is a very cool looking mech, and I quite enjoy it! Do you know if this measures any bigger than either of the two original sets?
  19. "We're going to need Battle Machines!" These guys look way too cool. I'm a bit curious as to how you did Brawn Beast's tongue. I can see the Exo-force hand part and the red spike but with the black jaw, that's pretty much it. It looks powerful, and I like the bulk in the torso a lot. It took me a minute to realize what torso Magma Beast was using. That shoulder-armor technique gives it just the right amount of bulk, and the beast puts those trans red-orange claws to good use. Stealth Beast's lime contrasts well, but like Rocka's Stealth Machine's gold, the lime makes it seem less stealthy. However, I really enjoy the look of this guy. Looks a fair bit like a charging T-Rex but with longer arms. Overall, these beasties look very cool, and will certainly be a handful for Hero Factory to take on!
  20. No worries! I can imagine how it would look if the part were up the way it's meant to be. Do you plan on revamping any other "Invasion" sets? Aside from the beast in that last picture. Man, that looks good.
  21. I'll admit, it is nice seeing Breez again, and in a humanoid-battle-suit, but I do wish Nex and Stringer had appeared instead. The likeliness that Thresher would ever be featured as a set is incredibly low, Merrick too for that matter. I still think the limbs need cladding, even if it is a free polybag set. I hadn't thought of that. If I had the Drop Ship, I'd see about making the appropriate adjustments. I wonder how a smaller Drop Ship would look? Hmm. My mind is stirring with creative possibilities.. I just need to get my hands on some of these "Invasion from Below" sets and make magic with the parts!
  22. The little Breez polybag is adorkable. Yes. I said adorkable. As others have said I like that it's not just accessories, but in fact an actual build. It's a cute little thing, though I do wish it had some kind of cockpit, or maybe give the arms/legs a little length and cladding. Still, it isn't bad for a build this size. Shame it couldn't be a recolor of a character to resemble another. Nex, Stringer, hell, recolor Bulk and do a Thresher figure. Make that blue guy we only ever saw once in the cockpit of that Drop Ship set. Anything. Actually, thinking about it, the Drop Ship set could be re-released in the new minifig-scale. Wouldn't be that hard to imagine, actually... How cool would that be? :-D
  23. I like how the main build of this looks. Really growing fond of that kneecap style. I like the use of the 1.0 feet here and the torso-armor on the shoulders, complete with the Hero Factory (core) icon! I do have to use a little imagination when it comes to that blaster. To me it looks more like a dagger no matter the way it's placed, but I get what you were going for. The minifig-saw on the blaster arm is a nice touch, harking back to Stormer's original weapon design. I do wish there was something for his feet to 'stand' on, instead of having them dangle around like that. Perhaps another of those Savage Planet parts (like on the legs) attached to the little orange cladding underneath the cockpit would help with this? I like that there's more orange around the seat too, and throughout the body. Before, it stood out. Now, it looks like it belongs. (Seeing the white and orange together like this makes me miss Nex even more... sigh.) I think it looks like a great little revamp, and that beast in the bottom-most picture looks like a very threatening opponent. I can easily tell who that's going to be.. !
  24. It is an interesting idea, to have a class system among the beasts.. we have not seen that side of them, and since they have a queen, I don't see why that can't happen.. Beast itself looks good. I really like the Lime and Azure together, and the use of that Chima fur-part on the back is very cool. I'm not very sure of the purple head, it stands out against the other colors, but otherwise.. nice job.
  25. And thus you have summed up my thoughts. But I'm just going to blather on anyway, so here we go! Seriously though, can't believe we're getting a machine, three hero-figs, two cocoons, and the Queen Beast all in one set! Really like the cocoon as part of her body, and I can't help but feel reminded a little of Nocturn from the old days. You know, that guy under the sea that did the thing with the other thing. That guy. I agree with whoever said the Combat Machine looks like someone's MOC. The front legs give me that impression for some weird reason. Still can't believe it's got six flick-fire missiles! Those rear feet don't look like they fit in right to me... I wonder if Breez's Anchor Machine's anchor has a System winch on it? Would be cool. Bulk's Drill Machine looks okay, wonder if those leg cladding parts are printed? Really wish there'd be another set with 5M orange cladding.. Those other two smaller sets are cool too. I like that we're getting a red beast this wave, and another beastie with a transparent head! Lots of shiny see-through action on that Azure one.. Most of these look really good. I really hope to see them on shelves and in reviews soon.. of course, I'm still waiting on the first wave to get to me, so there's that too
